I'm surprised there isn't a topic yet. I don't own this yet, but I think I'll ask for it for Christmas.

I've seen this in the store, and watched the commercials. But I still don't get all the hype. I know it has something to do with multyplayer, right?

I got it from a 'friend' for free *cough* to try for a while. Haven't been able to get it to work though because I'm missing an important 'key' to the software. *cough* <.<;
But yeah, my video card sucks, so I'm not sure how well it'll run. But my friends video card sucks more, and it works for him, so I'm hopeful.

Next shooter I get. Portal is alone a reason to buy it, but like 4 games in one? Team Fortress 2 looks amazing, never played Half Life so that could be fun, the only thing it doesnt have is the original half life.
Totally worth it.

Yeah. It's stupid fro me to say that I'm into PC gaming but have never owned a Half-Life game.
But never fear, for The Orange Box is here. It has the original Half-Life as well as episodes 1 and 2.

Team Fortress 2 looks awesome. Go on gametrailers and search ' Ignis Solus'. Awesome video about TF2.

Orange Box <3
But seriously, I got it a few weeks ago, and it's pretty sweet. I've never tried Half-Life before it so it was a chance buy, but I think it was worth it.
Portal also dragged me into buying it.

Portal was such a fun game. The fact that you can shoot portals can make life so much easier [to get to places and to rob banks/etc unless blocked]. Some of the puzzles were such a loophole for me, but I always wouldn't mind to speed run. =3 Hm...speed runs are fun. *Waves Orange Box*
I always had the thought that Chell didn't die. When I saw the ending of the cake and the companion cube, I felt a bit hinted that, "Oohh...Chell! =3 Lurf." A cake all for Chell. (me)! And that adorable Companion Cube with a heart on it. Ahaha. I love those mood cubes. They were so cute. "Oh, what's that? Where are you going? What are those things on your legs? Oh, you're back!"

It's not Portals. It's just Portal.
I didn't find the main game too hard, but the advanced chambers are actually a bit tough.

I know it's Portal, but the 's' just gets stuck when your shooting portals all over the place. =\ Merf.

I did all six out of six, however, they were a bit hard, especially test chamber 17 in advanced.
It was particularly hard to tip over the turrets to get the cube. But I got it by flinging my way onto their platforms.I laughed through the whole game though <3

If I want a highly rated game, i'll buy it myself. My parents never get me stuff with good reports. Instead of praising me for good stuff, they scorn me for bad stuff.
I really do want the orange box. COD4 isn't my type of game, so I might be getting this next.

Why can't you buy Portal yourself?
Wait, I'll answer my own question and say that you'd need a credit card to buy it online and you don't have one. That's why you need your mom.
You could still try to buy Orange Box yourself. If you're lucky, the register person will let you have it without ID.

I bought Crysis and Bioshock this way. I'll be 17 soon anyway...

You can with the Half-Life 2 and episodes in retailers I think, though I haven't been LOOKING for them either. I don't think Team Fortress 2 is in retailers.

You are correct about that. I need to buy it from Valve's website. Plus, why spend your own money when your parents can spend it?
I need someone to take me to the store so I can buy Orange Box.

At least we're not in the UK where you have to be 18 to buy certain retail games. Here the highest rating is 17 for a retail game.
But then again, a lot of our games are censored...

Alright, so my dad left to Spokane or Seattle or whatever for the weekend to take racing lessons in out BMW, right? Well the guy giving the lessons was one of the head software engineers at VALVe responsible for hiring people, and he offered my dad and I a tour of their facility!
And yes, I know for a fact that the guy is what he says, because he had a buisness card with VALVe's logo on the front and back, and their signature picuture of a guy with a valve on his head on the back.

And Split, that's exactly what I'm sad about. I liked having the ending left open, not knowing if Chell died or survived, and ending the story there. No announcement of Portal 2, no clarification on her death/passing out, nothing. That's what I wanted.
And Valve ruined it for me!

They are making a portal 2, check Gametrailers TV and it might be co-op
Split Infinity
Mar 11 2008, 01:55 AM
Wonder how that will work. Perhaps there'll be a third portal shared by both players...
Caael
Mar 11 2008, 01:57 AM
That would be really confusing. How would a third portal work anyway?
Split Infinity
Mar 11 2008, 02:00 AM
Like, each player having their own individual blue or orange portal that they can shoot, and a third (green?) portal that either player can shoot. If one player shoots a green portal, the other player's portal disapears. And both players can enter all three portals.
Pretty neat eh?
Caael
Mar 11 2008, 09:33 AM
What's the 3rd one connected to though?
Split Infinity
Mar 11 2008, 02:27 PM

I never thought of that. Maybe it connects to the other portal of the player who shot it? But that would make a three-way portal, and if you tried to go through it you'd get split into two, which would create a paradox. Ah, fudgecakes!
Caael
Mar 11 2008, 04:19 PM
So maybe the 2 people share the orange and blue, but one of them has a green and one of them has a red one. The green and and red are connected and orange and blue are connected, so co-ordination is required.
