When I get bored I often start fires think about stuff that doesn't matter in the slightest. Once such occasion occurred when I had been playing TLA for periods much longer than is healthy. I began to notice that the planets appeared often in the games and I started looking to see if there were examples for all of them. The only one I couldn't find an example for was Uranus. Most of the indirect refrences seem to come from the way that the Romans ripped off all the Greek gods. I'll list off the ones I have and see if anyone else can come up with missing ones or better examples than the ones I have. I'll try to edit this post with an updated list whenever I can.

Mercury: Water Element, Hermes (As in "Hermes' water.") was the greek name for the roman god Mercury

Venus: Earth Element, (Greek name was "Aphrodite" maybe that's in there somewhere...)

Earth: Weyard is an Earth-like world, Gaia is derived from Gaea, the greek word for "Mother Earth"

    Mars: Fire element

    Jupiter: Wind Element

Saturn: Sautros, Father of the Titans (As in Titan Blade)

    Uranus: I got nothin'

Neptune: Neptune is a level 3 Mercury Summon, Poseidon (the boss) was his greek name

Pluto: Charon (the summon) is Pluto's moon.

Well I hope that I have sucessfully projected my boredom onto you.

Gaia is also the Titian of Earth, in greek myth.

Alright. One, you have stolen my ****ing line. Two, nice list. Very err, random of the day. Yah.
And don't worry. Playing games for bad limits of time = good thing. I played KoTOR till 5am last night.

Hm, interesting, but I can't think of anything else.

Gaia Axe releases Mother Earth. Don't know if that counts...

Lots of games have planetary allusions. And whoever came up with the name "Uranus" was some kind of freakin' sadist.

                        ...

It wasn't a childish joke, it was a classic one. Please do note the diffrence between the two.

There are alot of little quirks about the game.

Like have you ever the connection between lemuria and Atlantis?

Or the fact the Gondowonaland looks like South America and that Angara looks like North america?

Indra looks like india, Tundraria looks like antartica?

Just to point out some real world references.

I always thought of Angara/Gondowan as more of a Europe/Africa type thing... I'd say Atteka and Hesperia count as the North/South America equivalents, I mean, Moapa looks like your typical "American Indian." If you notice, Angara and Gondowan are more extensively settled, and there are what, two villages in all of Atteka and Hesperia? So yeah, that makes the most sense to me in terms of location.

Well it was the shape that made the other two seem like North and South America. And I suppose the Anemos ruins could be compared to the Aztek.

VGmaps.com has some good ROM-ripped maps, but nothing like that one. I believe a copy of that map came with the game, if you still know here you left your instructions.

Well if you look at the shape... and look at Europe and Africa, it's almost the same thing.

Madra(s) is a real city in India. If you look in one of the ovens, it says that they're making tandoori chicken, which is an Indian chicken dish.

                                                    Nah, that's Isis.

Isis is a goddess in Egyptian mythology. She is the wife and sister of Osiris and mother of Horus, and was worshipped as the archetypal wife and mother.

oh, right. well I was close. I remember now, in one of the books I read, there is a goddess named Iris that is the wife of the chief god. And that story's gods are based of Egyptian myth. That's how I got confused.
