Well it seems i'm going through a Metroid phase at the moment.

Prime had been lying around in my cupboard for ages; I never really cared much for shooters. Then I was bored, and put it in. I was drawn in as soon as I saw the opening sequence. It was an incredibly advanced game, easy to get the hang of but hard to master. I fell in love with Tallon IV and started my Metroid Obsession.

I'm hopefully getting Fusion and Zero Mission for my birthday, so thats 2 more titles. Also, super metroid on VC looks awesome, and i'm definately getting corruption.

The only one that doesn't really appeal to me is Echoes. It's a great idea, if cliched a bit to have a dark and light world, but the game just doesnt seem to be as in depth as the first prime, and it doesnt seem as mystical. And Samus at the end is uuuugllyyy :unsure:

Metriod series is really good. I've enjoyed both the 2d and the 3d. Nintendo has done great jobs with every game. Corruption is looking beautiful

The Prime games revived my interest in the series. I love the Metroid formula, but I prefer Castlevania (the 2-D games are practically identical in game progression, except for the settings they take place in). In my opinion, Metroid: Prime is probably the best game in the whole series. Magnificent graphics, great gameplay, all the works.

I'm so hyped for Corruption. August 20th can't come soon enough.

First I've got a question for all of you: Who's getting Coruption on the exact day it is released?

The only Metroids I've played are the Primes(and soon Prime 3). For some reason I didn't really enjoy Prime 1, while Echoes is one of the best games I have ever played.

I should be getting it the day it's released, providing it's after june, and not the same month as brawl.

Well it's August 20th in America, but I don't think they have a release date for the Land Games Companies Forgot (Europe).

I'm excited about the Wii controls for Corruption. I remember in last year's E3 demo, there was one instance where Samus had to place her hand on a lever (by moving the nun-chuck forward), and then twisting and pulling it in the exact same motion.

Pretty good stuff. :P

That said, which 2-D Metroid game is the best, in your opinion?

I wouldn't know yet, i've asked for the GBA ones for my birthday, and I will be getting Super Metroid on VC.

Ah, Metroid... One of the only reasons I actually keep my GameCube plugged into my TV to this day. It's an excellent francise, but I was disgusted when I first heard news about Metroid Pinball, I mean come on...

So was I. Nintendo makes a pinball game based off every franchise. It's easy money. The only thing they haven't made is Zelda Pinball...

It was pretty crap, the pinball. They could have at least put a different story in instead of taking Prime's.

I want to know if Echoes is worth getting, it seems to have got worse reviews than Prime.

Super Metroid was my first nintendo game and will always be special to me <3 <3 lol.

Seriously though, Metroid is pretty much the only thing that keeps me interested in console games, along with Zelda and SSB.
Lets hope Corruption isn't ruined by the Hunters-esque linearity and the wii controls. Last I heard they felt a bit unnatural, but that was before the first wave of wii fps, so hopefully Retro leanred from their mistakes.

Dude, Echoes is awesome, you can't go wrong with it. It only got slightly worse reviews than Prime because it's much of the same thing, but it still rules.

I agree, Echoes is pretty win. You only realise how much better it is than Prime when you try to go back and play prime again :D.
The only complaint I guess is that it feels more linear, with the game pretty much pushing you along with the pattern of seek out the energy controller in light Aether, find the 3 keys in dark aether, fight the boss, retrieve the energy and return it to the light world.
It's actually a bit more involving than that though.

I actually picked up my copy of Metrod: Fusion out of despair that my golden sun got stolen. I'm not really playing through it at power mega speed, kinda just playing when I get bored.

I think the Metroid franchise can only get better by using the Wii controls. Corruption will work beautifully, you'll see.
