Another Possible Gs3

I don't know if it's a fake or not. I hope it isn't as this would be awesome.
Let the speculation commence!

At first, I'm skeptical to say that a "gobo_4227" could be seen as a reputable source... but those images seem VERY plausible.
---
This is exactly the sort of title that Nintendo could have revealed at the press conference to make a huge splash. Either they're saving it for post-E3 (i.e. last year, Brawl was revealed on the final day of E3), or it's just not ready yet.
But definitely promising. Good find, Nick.

The Image on the touch screen is not new. It came out with TLA, just different colours. And what type of a title is that?
Split. It's the Solar Soothsayer.

I'm skeptical about this though:
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2007/07/goldensunds.jpg
Notice the image on the bottom screen. That looks like the same image that was used for the boxart of TLA. There's nothing wrong with that, but wouldn't a true GS3 use original art? Maybe Camelot just slapped something on there because it's in the early stages, but it's my job to be a skeptic. :D Also notice that the image on the top screen doesn't go with the one on the bottom screen. I'll admit that the images look very genuine, but maybe this gobo_4227 is an expert modder/hacker that he could make a screen play on his DS lite to make us think GS3 was coming. Anything's possible.
Anyway, look at the screen on the Maxconsole site. See the paper next to the DS Lite? If anyone can read what it's saying, there'd be major cookies.

Although I highly doubt it, I might be able to get a picture/video expert at the FBI to enhance the text on the paper since my cousin works for the FBI (He even interrogated Saddam, and though that sounds like BS and I have no way to prove it, it's the truth). I could e-mail the pic to my aunt, and she might be able to foreward it to my cousin.
[EDIT] With this picture, I can make out "600 Wii Points", "Air "Zonk/Yank/Zunk/Yunl/whatever"", "future", "collecting", something"DOES 1-2 players", "so stop Xing-" and "sidescrolling" on the right hand side after sharpening the picture and converting to black and white. Not sure what it means, but it's definately game related.
Here's the enhanced picture.

This image is, by far, the closest thing to a GS3 we have, I will admit to that. Even so, it just seems too far fetched that only a single man would break this NDA and only with a single screen from the game. The timing was well planned, the image is of outstanding quality, the press release on the right is the perfect subtle touch, but among the rehashed TLA image and this lack of anything more than a single shot, it's a little too little for me to call it anything other than a hoax right now. I would change my mind in a heartbeat if we saw the slightest hint of what was suggested in the description, the pseudo 3d or Felix in a real setting in the game, but right now, this just looks like a combination of Passme and Photoshop.
EDIT: Also, Soothsayer : a person who predicts the future by magical, intuitive, or more rational means. Very fitting for Golden Sun, and a brilliant name, but we've run into this before as well, so it doesn't really say much.

Blink brings up a good point though - why only the title screen? If the person claimed to have played the title, why not take a picture of the pseudo-3D psynergy effects, or show us the overworld, or show us anything else besides the title screen?
Speaking of which, very cool title. I can definitely see it happening.
EDIT: Sorry for this, but I think this right here just might prove it false.

So the fact that we have Box Art and a title screen for two brand new GS titles doesn't register 'Hang on, this could be a really well timed joke'.
The Wii game is a lot less believeable then the DS one. Mainly because they're just old images we've all used in Sig's and banners. Plus, Celestial Chronicles? Sounds alot like the FF GC title.

Digressions are wonderful things.
I don't have a handheld on me right now, but was that text used for "2001 - 2007 Camelot" always used for the opening scenes? I'm curious; it reminds me of Fire Emblem's opening text quite a bit.
#24
Posted 12 July 2007 - 08:22 AM
And guys, I think the paper is a list of VC games coming out, because you can read "Mach Rider (NES) 1 player", and below that, Yoshi (I think...match eggshells in a action puzle game, and something about Mario) (NES) 1-2 players, and below that, "Air Zonk" and the begining of TurboGrafx16, and below that 600 Wii points. And in the second paragraph, with excessive sharpening, you can see Wii Shop Channel, every Monday, can purchase Wii Points...So, It's not a GS3 press release. I checked all the titles I could read, and they were real games, with exception to Yoshi, which I'll try and find out about later.
EDIT: Yup, Yoshi was also a NES game.

Of course, if this were real and under tight wraps, the security would've made sure that there weren't any cameras (phone, digital, or film) allowed in the room. That's not to say it'd be impossible to sneak one in. On top of that, they wouldn't have let any reporters in in the first place.
But Camelot wouldn't have even had a conference if they didn't intend to give out more information, so if we don't see more by the end of E3, or at the VERY latest, the next gameing conference (non E3 related), then it's a definate fake.

At first i was very happy and and could not wait to turn on my TV, thinking I had miss Nintendo/G4's cover on it. BUT sadly to my relization from looking at the pictures and reading over what most of the Vet posters are saying, this by far has to be a fake. Yes i would love to jump on the banwagon and tell everyone that there is a new GS3 coming out but, after much looking over the internet and doing my own "lookover: on the pictures, this is not something im going to trust. Hey, a couple of months from now if the game is real and Nintendo is just not realesing anything on it yet (¬ ¬ which kinda makes no sence, if any of you watch E3 07' live on G4 that they where covering for all us beloved fans of video games who E3 shut out, you would have noticed that Reggie Fils did not leave many of us hanging with anything new about Wii, DS, or any other nintendo games) Then i will happly say i was wrong and stab myself with my Gaia blade. . . ^.^

Then again, E3 isn't the end-all, be-all event it once was. If you noticed from the announcements from the three console makers, no true "megaton" was dropped (Wii Fit is reasonably close, but nothing that hardcore gamers would go crazy for). E3 is now just a "regular" gaming event, albeit an important one, and it probably now holds equal significance with GDC, TGS, etc.
#44
Posted 14 July 2007 - 12:36 AM
Wish it was though, and Camelot would either announce a GS3 or say that they don't intend to carry it on. Waiting for a GS3 is seriously bad for our health, because we all know that:
Time = Money, Money = GS3, GS3 = Life, and Life = Fish sticks. SO, in the end, waiting for GS3 is costing us in fish sticks!! :P
#45

But yes, there is always room for assumption and speculation. But I think we can all agree that this was a very well planned out, prepared, and executed hoax. And I'm sure we'd all be more than happy to eat our words as well. At the very least, I am.
#46
Posted 14 July 2007 - 05:53 AM
And just because it's supposed to be a direct continuation of TLA doesn't justify Camelot using the same artwork. They wouldn't want this game to look like a TLA remake, but a new GS game. Also, seeing as all four main characters were different in TLA from GS, do you really think GS3 would have exactly the same characters?
I still have no doubt this is fake.
#47
Posted 14 July 2007 - 08:16 AM
lol on GSA (another golden sun forums) we had this same discussion about this same website with the same fake images. This website was the first to release news about this so called golden sun 3 game, and it was most likely done either to win publicity because he knew everyone would make a big deal or just bad info.
But the chances of a person with an alias named gobo who happened to get a hold of these images of a real camelot game before it hit E3. Highly Doubtful.
But I could be wrong and there is that 2% chance I am and this is real :P Which I hope I am wrong.

It's missing the © in front of "2001-2007." Why would there be any reason to remove it? The previous games say "©2001-(year) Nintendo / CAMELOT."
And in the above image, what kind of screen is that taken on? Definitely not a GBA or DS. It looks like a square unmarked monitor. Emulator + photoshop skills?

If you think Golden Sun is their only income pool then you are a bit obsessed. Nintendo has plenty of merchandise to sell, but they are not exactly focusing on income. While that is their goal, they need to experiment with new technology. They can't keep reviving old s*** in hopes of success. They need to test areas and see if it works out for them or not.

I'm just worried about voice acting and the battle menu if it's on the Wii. Honestly, if they don't get the right voice actors, they could probably ruin the game. =/
I'd like to see it on the Wii, but I'd kinda prefer it be on the DS. The DS has a wider fanbase anyways.
And if they're not making it now, it's becuase Nintendo's to busy with their casual crap to care. Those casual games probably bring in more than GS3 ever will. And they're dirt cheap to produce too. There's little graphic design, and sinc the games aren't big, there's not a lot of coding involved. They probably spend most of their time refining the controls.

I'll play it when it comes out. Camelot said they wanted to make it, and were fully intent on making a third installment, but that they've been to busy or whatever. It's just a matter of time.
And the guys who made those things are very skilled. There's no denying it. Their reasons for making the fakes (as far as I've heard), was to stir up the comunity and create interest in the series again. If that really is the case, then I think it was a good idea.

it is supposedly a picture from a 3D version of GS! if u look at the top left hand corner, u will see a scroll image that says "Vale..." its most likely a fake, but i thought that id tell u anyway!
and, i agree with the last person. if they come out with another game in the GS storyline, then id play it for sure! i also must give the creators of the fake games props as well... the skill and patience involved with making a fake game case and box art would take up most of my brains power! and, they sure as heck got me re-interested in GS, so props to them, not for tricking people, but for taking the time to create such realistic-looking product!
btw, if ur looking for a good RPG to do in ur spare time, go to "anime.myfavoritegames.com" and search for "Golden Sun," "Alchemy Unleashed," or, "Over the Edge." my friend made the Alchemy Unleashed RPG and i made the Over the Edge one...
have fun with them! i hope that u like them!
thanx!

That actually is RPG maker. It looks exactly like the 3rd one. I had it for awhile but it wasn't a very good game at all.

Anyway, thanx for not making me feel like a total moron. I can see haw putting a pic of an RPG maker screenshot in a forum and saying that it MIGHT be a sequel can be a little idiotic!
