I've played it. I suck interminably at it and was banned from playing for a while because I threw my friend's controller on the floor in frustration because I couldn't get through Carry on my Wayward Son. It's not my fault! They should make those things more resistant to smashing. Either you smash it in frustration, or if you're good, you'll smash it in celebration like all the greats. Why did no one have the foresight to make a Guitar Hero controller with some Nerf Armor? Anyway, we were playing multiplayer the other day, and I found out that I'm actually pretty skilled at bass. That or Bass is easier, stop crushing my dreams!

So yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Now I'm off to watch Youtube videos of Korean pre-teens that can do Freebird on expert because they have no life. And probably because they need the battle of the bands prize money to feed their family.

I got through Sweet Child O' Mine on Expert today for the first time and even though the solo killed me, just getting through it was enough gratification. This is the only video game I play now, because I'm sick of conventional ones. I figured more than just two people here would have played though....

It's actually nothing like DDR. It's actually good.

I've played 1 and 2 on PS2, my cousin has them. I quite like them, but I'm not sure if I would get it on the Wii, I just don't know enough of the songs.
GH2 is better I reckon, mostly because of the multiplayer.

The general point of a forum is to have somebody post topics and then have other members, members who know something about the topic, reply to that topic. You know nothing about Guitar Hero, and by giving a four word post saying it's an oversized DDR and I should get over myself, I have a right to be pissed off.

Second of all, how can you not feel awkward playing such a game? As far as I know, you can't even use the guitar strings. Why not get a real guitar and actually impress somebody?

Whats sad is, I have a friend who thinks he can play a guitar, just because he dominates in Guitar Hero. I 've heard him play the real thing, and he sucks. When he tried to do a nieghborhood show, I thought of stoping him, but decided to let him learn the hard way. By the end of ten minutes, everyone was demanding thier money back. Poor fool.

If I felt awkward playing the game, that would mean that I was somehow self-conscious about my lack of musical ability. I, however, recognize that Guitar Hero is a video game and not a real guitar. Why do people practice games like Super Smash Bros? Is it because they want to be good for themselves? To be the best in the world and not have anyone know about it? No, they practice so that when the day comes that they can play someone who is better than them, they can beat them and impress them. That's the point of multiplayer video games. That's the difference. I don't actually think I'm good at playing guitar because I play Guitar Hero. It's a video game. This is a video game forum. If I thought I were good at guitar, I would've made a guitar topic. Simple as that.

I play Guitar Hero when I get the chance. My favorite song is Woman, but I'm dissapointed that they don't have "The Boys Are Back in Town" by Bad Company. Or something from Foreinger, like Juke Box Hero. But it's a game worth losing your life to, that's for sure. :P

And PS, sorry to kill your dreams, but Bass is easier. =P

There's a lot of chip thingies you can easily hook up to a PS2 to let you do stuff like that to it. There's a chip thingy for the Game Cube that even let's you play mini DVD's, I think. I know that you can at least upload movies to it via USB and watch them through your GC.

Despite my complete lack of knowledge when it comes to music, I have played Guitar Hero II. It's a fun game and it's hard to not enjoy it, even if you have to wear the guitar and everyone decides to look at you.

I don't know why it's such a big deal to everyone that it doesn't teach you how to play a real guitar. Examples of video games that teach you actual skills are scarce. You might think that GTA might make you a better driver, but real cars aren't operated with buttons. If it's a fun game, stop whining that it's not a real guitar and go freaking buy a real guitar and learn that!

That's different. You can only drive cars at a certain age and besides, there are consequences to driving like a maniac in real life. But with a guitar, the worst that could happen is the tips of your fingers really ache.

My cousin got GH3 the other night, spent about four hours solid playing it to unlock the final song in multiplayer. My whole right arm was just screwed.
The final song is Monsters by Matchbook Romance, a band I really like.

Dragonforce are fast but not much else, if they have bands like Sonata Arctica, Arch Enemy, In Flames and Dream Theatre then i might consider purchase.

So aside from the fact they have stepped out to include a number of different bands, like Senses Fail and Matchbook Romance, who are really only known to their audience. If the game consisted of only Heavy Metal, do you really think anyone would buy it?

im not saying that, i'm saying that the game is BS because it labels bands like Muse as legends and constantly reminds you how it has the greatest guitar songs of all time whilst leaving out the two genres that require the most skill when it comes to guitaring. Really pisses me off.

I have a feeling that Rock Band is going to be pretty expensive with all the peripherals, so in my mind, Guitar Hero will always be great. They have an almost unlimited library of both classic rock and modern hits, as proven by the deep setlist of GH3.

I can't wait to get my hands on GH3, especially to play Dragonforce!!! (and maybe a few others)

I got GH3, and Through The Fire And Flames is the most fun to play, I can hit 74% of the notes on expert in training (because the opening is a *****). More good songs are Raining Blood (mosh part is inhumanly hard), One (solo kicks ass), and Rock You Like A Hurricane (of course!).

I have a modded PS2, and I have a modded GH2, so I have all custom songs, and let me tell you, they are INSANELY harder than the songs that are in the actual game. I can do almost all the songs on Hard, and some on Expert on the real game. I can BARELY finish the custom songs on Hard, let alone expert. Atreyu's Bleeding Mascara, woooah. Once you get past the intro, it gets easier, but sometimes I can't even get past the intro. Ya, custom songs are funner, and more challenging than the real songs.

Now, GuitarHero talk. Me and my friend were playing GH3 a couple days ago, and I did the "Mute something" challenge. You have to tunr the voluem off in the game, and beat a song on Expert. It wasn't THAT hard, got it first try, but I didn't do that well.

A new Guitar Hero's been announced, but I can't say it looks like a smart idea. I mean the DS version looked rubbish, but at least it was an attempt at a new idea. I've already seen it said that Guitar Hero is ripping off Rock Band, which ironically ripped off Guitar Hero in the first place. I guess it's the sort of thing that would make Laharl yell for originality in the industry. :D

I'm getting better. I can get through Dead! by MCR on hard in GH:2. Nothing near perfect, but it's a lot better than what it used to be.
