Also ToS playable characters will be returning with the exception of Kratos, whether they'll still be playable is unclear
Best part is........................Namco have confirmed a European release for this and Tales of Innocence ^_______________^

Kratos was in the trailer...and yeah, the other characters are all returning, so i'm guessing they used the ending where Zelos wasnt killed. I'm wondering if Lloyds group are like Felix's group in GS1, because in the trailer, the new guy seems to be fighting Lloyd, and the new guy appears to be on the side of the Pope...I dunno, i'm crap at plot analysing.
Oh, whats the release date, Laharl?
Edit: Wiki plot summary

incorrect.
each Tales game is totally from the others unless its a sequel (that said the american Tales of Destiny 2 is actually Tales of Eternia, then an actual japanese Tales of Destiny w was released and was a direct sequel :/ Namco america looked total idiots)
If you ask me Tales is the best RPG series going, consistently excellent, i believe this to be the extent of series:
UK Release
Tales of Phantasia (UK: GBA, Originally SNES)
Tales of Eternia (UK: PSP, Originally PS1)
Tales of Symphonia (GC)
US Release
Tales of Destiny (PS1)
Tales of Legendia (PS2)
Tales of the Abyss (PS2)
Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology (PSP)
Japan Release
Tales of the Tempest (PS2)
Tales of Destiny remake (PS2)
Tales of Symphonia remake (PS2)
Tales of Destiny 2 (PSP)
Tales of Rebirth (DS)
Tales of the World: Nanriki Dungeon (GBC)
Tales of the World: Nanriki Dungeon 2 (GBA)
Tales of the World: Nanriki Dungeon 3 (GBA)
Future Titles
Tales of Innocence (DS)
Tales of Symphonia 2 (Wii)
Tales of Vesperia (360)
if i can get my NTSC PS2 working i'll be importing Abyss and Legendia :P

Strange, the Wikipedia page for Symphonia says that the developers placed Symphonia in the same universe and that it was a prequel as it was set thousand of years before Phantasia.

But apart from that it all sounds good. I'm still hoping Lloyd turns out to only be a temporary antagonist. It seems strange for him to be a villain anyway considering his idealistic nature.

certainly sounds excellent, but given the choice i think i'd rather see what Namco do with with Tales of Vesperia on the 360.
The inclusion of monster training is questionable but everything looks top notch, hopefully Mr. Sakuraba will be employed in the soundtrack department again

Eternal Sonata imo was ****. It was very dull, and the battle system tried too hard to be in real time, but still be turn based, and the end product failed miserably.

No doubt it is, that's evident in the fact that DQ is sickeningly huge in Japan:
Dragon Quest is such a cultural phenomenon in Japan that there are live-action ballets, musical concerts, and audio CDs based on the Dragon Quest universe.[10] The London Philharmonic Orchestra has performed for several Dragon Quest music albums.[11] It was the first video game series to have its music performed live by an orchestra.[12] Since 1987, music from Dragon Quest has been performed annually in Japan in concert halls.[13] In Japan, due to complaints of mass absenteeism from schools and places of work, Enix changed its policy of releasing new Dragon Quest games on weekdays.[14]

There's a difference between forcing an opinion and strongly defending a game. Believe it or not, I've been doing the latter with that.

Anyhow, I'm not really interested in this. I haven't played the first part, so there's no reason for me to look forward to the sequel. I'm sure it's a good game and I believe I would like it, but I play enough games already, so I don't need this too.

I'm somewhat sad to hear that it doesn't tie into Symphonia well, but overall, can we say solid RPG/worthy entry in the Tales series?

- poor cast
- no world map
- linear plot progression
- battle feels stiff, delay after attacks is not appreciated
- flawed monster leveling system leaves only 2 real characters
- little replay value
if you knew anything about the series you'd see this is little more than a badly designed spinoff. The only reason you think highly off it is because there are no other good Wii JRPGs to compare it to.

Umm right lets throw out reasons why I like a game just because you think you know. The reasons I liked it are the reasons I gave, and since I am not some hardcore gaming fanatic I don't intend to read to far into the details of every game I play. The games I enjoy are the ones I play, it is as simple as that.

And the ending was brilliant. Well, depends on which one you get (the "short one" or the "real", longer ending), but it did well to salvage the game and really tie it all together.
EDIT: And hell will be paid if there is not a new game with Kratos returning.
EDIT2: Ahh man, now I'm quite depressed. I'm going to miss the Symphonia cast, they were great.
