Alot more people here play than I thought. I wasn't sure if figures and stuff was the proper place to discuss it though, so I decided to pl;ay it safe and make a new topic.

I only started playing last month. So far I have only a Space Marine Tactical squad and a Commander. But I'm hoping to go to a hobby store this weekend and get something new.

Like I said, I have a HUGE Chaos army, a small Demon Hunter army, and a small raptor thingy army(DS could you find the name for me, since it is escapeing me at the moment.)

I have 2 Defilers(the best chaos tank/vehicle), Abadon the Dispoler, the Khorne demon Lord, the Serpent thingy demon Lord, the green fat Jaba-The-Hut demon lord, 3 raptor squads, 3 motercycle squads, alot of normal chaos squads, some are demonic(arms and things), 5 Khorne demon squads, a couple of my chaos squads are upgraded with flamethrowers and such, a few squads have comanders(more powerful units, you can have one to each squad for none WH players), and I think that's it. Oh and 2 tanks, and 2 chaos versions of the vehicle that DS has in his avy. I can't remember the names AT ALL.

I play alot at my local store, win alot, except against the store owner, who has an insane Necron army, and whipes me out almsot every time. I've beaten him twice, and both tiems were REALLLLLY lucky. My Defilers just kind of wrecked him. But every other time he kills me.

The only thing I can think of would be Tyranids.

My squad has one dude upgraded with a flammer, and another with a missle launcher. One sargeant, no grenades and purity seals.
My commander is armed with a combi-melta and a lightning claw. He also has purity seals, artificer armor, and a golden halo.

Me loves Abadon. He is so awsome. His sword is preatty powerfull, plus the lightning claw is helpfull too.

And Abbadon has to be THE most powerful commander in the entire game.

I think that after I get the hang of the game and finish my Space Marines army, I'll go Chaos. They seem to have lots of powerfull units and such a huge variety of them they can deal with lots of situations.

They are more advanced, yes. Especially when you add demons, which you will becasue they rock, that's when it gets difficult.

Thank you. Ya I have 2 chaos Drednaughts and 2 Chaos Rhinos. A little stronger than the SM ones, and look cooler. They have spikes coming out of the top, and like, demonic parts on them.

Khorne, mainly. But yet I have the demon lords from the pink/black dudes, and the green poison dudes. Names please.

Pink/black would be Emperors Children, who serve Slaanesh. Greenish dudes are Death Guard, who serve Nurgle.

Thank you. I haven't touched my Warhammer dudes since like the summer. Ya I got a few Emperor's Children squads. The Chaos Lord looks awsome. It's like a knight with a lance, riding a serpent. And Nurgle, is fat as hell. I hardly use the Death guard, but I always mix my Khorne, Emperor's Children, and the normal, black squads. Looks cooler.

I have an ok sized Demon army that I use with 40k and normal warhammer, and I got a small vampire counts and a small egyptian mummy army.

The one thing that makes me mad is that they don't release that comander dude with the big whip. He's in the Chaos book, they talk about him, but he's not released as a figure. I forget his name. DS, you gotta do some more researching.

In the codex I have(which is 3-4 years old, so he might be out for all I know) he isn't a model, just a profile. Damn, I need to get him. Can you try and find his stats please. I know I ask alot.

Really, its fine. Most of this stuff I can recall off the top of my head. But stats are to hard to remember, and my Chaos Codex is at my dad's house. Sorry.

Well I have a small room in the basement that has a battlefield, and my army all set up, and paint, adn all that junk, adn I haven't stepped foot into the room since the summer, so like, names, pfhhh, ya right.

But ya my codex is liek 3 years old. Should probably get a new one.

and ALOT of irrelevent men

will be getting a Baneblade at some point, which packs as much firepower as 3 Lehman Russ

i play 2nd Edition rules as they are the mst enjoyable

I have a question:
In the rule book, a SM has a WS and BS of 4, while a 'Nid has BS and WS of 3. I always thought that when you roll the di, you roll for anything higher than # for a hit. But the rulebook says that the SM is better because it has WS of 4 instead of 3. So does this mean that you actually have to roll for anything lower than # to get a hit?

I have 3 tau squads, 1 with Aun'Shi, 2 stealth squads, 3 broadside battlesuits, 6 standard suits, 18 gun drones, and 1 railgun tank ( I haven't played in years so I cant remember the name). Also, I have 2 squads of kroot, 1 krootox and 6 hounds.

you couldnt make that much more confusing

WS 4 hits WS 3 on 3+
WS 3 hits WS 4 on 4+
BS 4 hits on 3+
BS 3 hits on 4+

i have a squad of five space marines

had two games today

lost 15-12 to Space Marine

my luck was horrific, i snook up on his Whirlwind and blew it apart with a Lehman Russ on for its turret to land on me and blow up my tank D:

and beat Eldar 11-10

amazingly close match, alll 76 of the men in my army died but tanks were practically unharmed, must of killed around 10 of my own men (including my commander!) with the Hellhound's Inferno Cannon :P The most was with his Caledius Assassin, which had Lehman Rus Demoshlisher trying to kill. First Demolisher shell missed, landed on his viper destroying and sending the flaming wreck 22 inhes across the battlefield XD I then had another Demolisher shell and Multimelta shot missthe assassin and land on my own men, murdering them XD

I'm going to a hobby store tommorow. Thinking of getting a Dreadnaught. My youngest brother plays as chaos though, so do you have any recomendations for what he should get next, Skidz? Right now he has a lord and two 5 man squads.

Hmm if he played Chaos and seeing as you have the choice of choosing something similar or different. If you want similar then space marines, DaemonHunters, Witchhunters, Necrons would be your choice, seeing as these armies rely mostly on having basic units that are harder than some armies Elite units, whether due to physical attributes or simply better gear than most; if you think that a change toward a more unit heavy army is needed then I would say, Imperial Guard, the Orks and Tyranids simply for the sheer volume of men and vehicles (or big monsters) they can throw about; finally if you want an army which relies on individual units working independantly but have to synchronise well together to work then Eldar, Dark Eldar and Tau are the ones to look at, they all rely on armies of small exceptionally specialised units doing what they do best in concert with one another. Harlequins where an extreme in this regard, a normal 1,500p army of Harlequins used to number about 20-30 models but still be able to hold its own against the hundreds that Orks and Tyrannids could field. I think they changed that though.

They are called Leman Russ (named after the Space Wolf Primarch I think) Battle Tanks/Vindicators/Demolishers/Vanquishers/Conquerors/Exterminators/Annihilators and maybe a few more but that's off the top of my head.

Finally I do have an army mostly unpainted and stored away somewhere but it includes a Chaos Lord, Chaos Sorceror, 5 Chaos Terminators, 5 Plague Marines, 12 Khornate Berserkers, 15 Chaos Space Marines (1 plasma gun, 1 Heavy Bolter, 1 Missile Launcher, 1 Autocannon, 1 Flamer, 1 Lascannon, 1 Aspiring Champion with Power Claw and the rest armed with bolters), 3 Nurgling Bases, 3 Chaos Bikers, a Chaos Dreadnaught, Chaos Predator, Chaos Land Raider and 2 Chaos Rhinos. Not played in a long time but I'm thinking of actively trying again but either concentrating on a Tzeentch army of chaos or moving onto witchhunters with all their pyromania.

you do realise that an Imperial Guard Basilisk has an Earthshaker cannon which is Range=120"(Direct)/36-240"(Indirect), S=9, AP=3, Ordance Blast 1

had a pretty close game against Eldar today, was pretty even until mt last turn where i wiped out his Fire Dragons with the Hellhound's Inferno Cannon, wiped out his something (they were black with Krak missile launchers) with a Lehman Russ, wiped out the remnants of his guardians with lasgun fire and utterly totalled his dreadnought with a demolisher cannon (i mean ****ing totalled, i rolled to 6 on three seperate damage tables XD), giving me a nice 8 victory points, leaving him with an assassin and the eldar avatar, which killed 3 guardsmen, handing me a 15-7 victory ^____^

Finaly played my first game today. My commander and half my Tactical squad allied with my brother's attack squad against my youngest brother's two attack squad and Chaos lord. Little C was annihilated, but my forces fared far better. The games was real close, my squad Sargeant and Commander against two of his marines. Thank GW for ignore armor saves!

That's preatty cool. Alot of my squads are painted different colours. I have soem Khorne themed paint jobs, some Death Guard, some Emporer's Children.

Thats one of the great thing about dreating a chaos army. They don't have any standard paint schemem, and you can even include other legiones in your army.

The blue guys are mine. The chaos guys (red) were asembled by my youngest brother, and painted by me. I know they arent the best, but my painting has vastly improved since I made these guys. Also, sorry about the picture quality, I took these with my phone.
