That's one of the most ridiculous ideas I've ever heard of. I assumed it was a joke at first.
At least the parents got compensation in the end.

In this age, we humans do not have souls (scientists cannot find it, so it isn't there) or morality. We therefore do not need to pay attention to anyones dead son, since it doesn't concern us or make us richer or improve our quality of life in anyway!

It's a good thing they dropped the case and got insurance money, but it can never make up for the damage he did. The selfishness of that man...thats like...I cant even think of any analogies because it's so selfish. It compares to that story where Michael Jackson moved a woman having a heart attack out of a hospital room because he had the flu, and the woman he moved died. The world is messed up if these things are allowed to happen. If I were the driver's lawyers, I would have refused to take the case.

I'd like to believe that even if the case had gone to court, the Judge would throw it out. It's just plain sick. I always like to believe that everyone has good morals, but I can't defend this guy.

I agree with you guys, but the parents want to capitalize on their sons death also...
"But this is just the start" - His pops. I guess they want to put the man behind bars, but it could mean they want more money also...
I'm not gonna judge based on one video in any case.

no, no, no. The parents didn't sue the driver, the driver sued the parents for damages to his car.

Truly, what a sick ******* to do something like that. Anyone who would equate a human life with something as trivial as money doesn't deserve to live. Absolutely sickening.

and yet we pay hundreds, if not thousands for medical care.

Right. But after the guy dropped the suit his pops said ""But this is just the start", then the reporter said "The driver's insurance company has already payed the boys parents nearly $50,000" which makes me believe the parents are demanding more money from the insurance company and/or want the guy to go behind bars.

I can understand them receiving money for the accident, plus the distress caused from his actions. Anymore though and it would be nearly as bad as the guy himself.

um caael about that michael jackson thing, wouldn't it be good for the person to be moved if he had the flu? the flu is contagious and you wouldn't someone with a compromised immune system to get it...Then again I don't know if that was his mind set at the time.

I honestly think the guy who did it must have something wrong with him mentally, or maybe he had a breakdown after hitting the kid and is in denial.

I am sick of these kind of stories. We need international laws which prohibit insurance for damages as a result of your own criminal acts.

That's absolutely one of the most effed up things I've ever heard in my entire life. To think that the kid's life is less important than a damn car is just disgusting. I can't believe that there are people that selfish out there.

But...why would you sue the family of a dead person? It was the guys own fault for hitting the guy on the bike? Thats like that story when a thief broke into a house, but broke his leg or something and sued the persons house he broke into and WON. It's like..wtf?
