however, every now and then i hear a cover that completely destroys the original, some examples:
Norther - Final Countdown (Originally by Europe)
Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Black Tears (Originally by Edge of Sanity)
HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR - ROSIER (Originally by Luna Sea)
Children of Bodom - Rebel Yell (Originally by Billy Idol)
Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Flight of Icarus (Originally by Iron Maiden)
Norther - Smash (Originally by The Offspring)
Galneryus - Black Diamond (Originally by Stratovarius)
anyone else have any examples?

While I agree that Guns n Roses did do an amazing job of covering "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" (originally by Bob Dylan), I have to disagree with your statement, or at least add a song to it, as they did (in my opinion) a pretty horrible cover of "Sympathy for the Devil (originally by the Rolling Stones).
