I have been playing Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time. The game is similar, visually and in game mechanics, to PMD: Red Team/Blue Team, but features a whole new story and a couple new features (including better Wifi ability). The story itself, I feel, is better than the previous version, although you're still under the same premise that you're a human who has lost his/her memory.
I found this version had better flow and gave the player more freedom (by not requiring the player to do so many missions before they could do X).
Overall, fun game, fairly long (I've put about 9 hours into it thus far and I'm on Chapter 12).

Is it another spinoff game? I've never been a big fan of a series moving into other areas.

It is a spinoff, I guess you could say. The basic plot is that you're a human turned into a Pokemon and thrown into the Pokemon world with no memory of your human past. It is your job to find a way to explain what happened to you and eventually return to the human world.
The game features turn based action in the third person where you can control a team of up to four Pokemon (including yourself). You fight your way through Mystery Dungeons (Dungeons that change their configuration each time you enter it) to solve the problems and mysteries of the Pokemon world. You also take on rescue missions to help other Pokemon in need.

From what I've seen, it looks too, kiddy. If that's the right word. It just seems a little boring, but then again the Pokemon series in general has gotten boring lately.

I agree that it seems childish. I thought so too. Still, it is an enjoyable game even if it is 'easy' or 'kiddy'. :o

Well the new Donky Kong games have been very kiddy, but still enjoyable. I'll probably only rent this. I've made a personal boycott against buynig ANYTHING Pokemon untill they do something original, but good. Not that PMD won't be good, but it just isn't "Pokemon". If that makes any sense.

Aren't all
I considered getting the DS version of the origional, but decided againt it.
The one thing that's bittersweet about awesome games, is that they're awesome, but then they get overused to the extreme.Pokemon would've been more of a ledgend than a fond memory if they stopped with the GSC series, or event the Advanced series, but Nintendo makes far too much money off of the franchise to just stop producing games.
I might buy this when the price drops.

Hmm. I didn't really like the first one for the DS, but I hear this one is pretty good. Doubt I'll be getting it though.

That's stupid. Nobody would stop making a game that brings them tons of cash. What they should do is drastically change the formula.
