Curious statement indeed, any ideas on what core titles Nintendo might reveal?

Depending on how long the new Zelda game has been in development, It'll probably be there. Maybe we'll evn see some entirely new stuff.

And GS3 is most likely a DS title <.<

A Kid Icarus would be nice, and the new Zelda would be nice too. Maybe a 2D Metroid. We need a new one Nintendo.

Well in my opinion, I think it's more 50/50, since we have games like Zelda, Metroid, and Brawl, but also Wii Sports and Wii Fit.
We'll just have to wait for July 15th-17th though, when E3 comes around, because I'm sure Nintendo will make more "core" games, since this "casual" thing was really an act of desperation that turned out to work.
I think that more 3rd parties are realizing the potential of "hardcore" games on Wii, with The Conduit and MadWorld being examples.
And WD, look at the pitches here.

I was just about to say that. The one thing I hated about Colloseum, was that you couldn't walk between towns or catch wild pokemon. Haven't played it in ages though.
Anyway, I could've sworn there was some kind of onlin pokemon game for the PC in the 90's.....or something. I could be wrong. Probably wasn't online.

And it's not like you wouldn't be able to play with others without their friend code...there's something called play with anyone...even if you don't have their friend code. The retarded friend code system is for your friend list.

Anyway, if you want to do anything besides punching someone or just staring at them, you have to have a friend code.

Japan in general seems really behind as far as online functionality goes in video games, to be honest.

That said, speculation! Pikmin 3 for certain will be announced at E3, if hints by a number of gaming journalists are to be believed.

That isn't saying a lot, the Japanese are extremely protective and nationalist over their own products. Why are there so many JRPGs on the 360, yet most Japanese refuse to buy it?
I'm just saying, because the PS3 has been successful in Japan, does not mean it's GOOD now, nor does it reflect anything to do with their online system.

You seemed to imply that online = success, that's all I was trying to disprove.
And secondly, I meant to say PS3 is dominating 360 in Japan AND Europe AND Australia (the entire world pretty much save for North America).
I meant it as a quick side comment folks, my fault. Back to core titles, Nintendo, E3, go.

In a team match in an FPS some kind of communication is needed...in MoHH2 you can select little commands like "move out" or "cover me" to communicate with the rest of your team. As Toasty said, it's really not needed in racing games or fighting games.

I'm just saying, to Nintendo fans that's what one of their "hardcore franchises" are. The big ones are of course Mario, Metroid, Zelda (and to a lesser extent, Smash).

* Mana RPG (Expected)

* Sword of Legendia

Yeah, Tales is the Namco game.
Here's more Wii RPGs- http://www.wiisworld.../wii-games/RPG/

Dude that list said Rune Factory 3 and I just became aware that there was a second one in Japan. Man I am behind. I know but most people here probably wouldn't like Rune Factory, but I thought it was amazing. That would be really cool to see on the wii.
Btw code lyoko would be lame.

Anyway, being able to manually control your pokemon in battel would be great. A real-time system would perfect, as that's what a real match would be like in real life, if it was possible.
But anyway, until omething like that happens, I'm done with the series. I might pick up Crystal occaisionally, but that's about it. Crystal, and maybe the Red/Green remakes are the only ones worth playing anyway. The first ones are too old, and the new ones suck beyond belief.

It would be great with a probably sad ending. =P I have to wonder if that protagonist would be another reincarnation of Link, though? (assuming all the Links in the Zelda universe have been reincarnations of the OoT Link)
#117
Posted 14 July 2008 - 11:48 AM
I think they really need to pull off something new with whatever zelda they make next. the lttp formula is getting old, and they need to let go of OoT.
#118
Posted 14 July 2008 - 11:52 AM
And yes, Zelda should focus on realistic/dark themes a bit longer. We already have Mario and... well, every Nintendo series besides Metroid for cartoony stuff.
#119
Posted 14 July 2008 - 11:57 AM
that actually wouldn't be too bad, lol, it could be cool with the wii controls...
But I think their new motion peripheral just hints more at a zelda. I doubt nintendo would release something as big as this without making a game to show it off and get developers interested (show them how it's done, you could say). Zelda with 1:1 motion sensing for sword fighting? This is what everyone wanted from TP and if they deliver it they will rake in the millions.

And I highly doubt that a new Zelda will be unveiled tomorrow. Maybe an announcement, and maybe a demo of Twilight Princess done with the Wii MotionPlus attachment just to give us an idea of how it can be used. But it's simply too soon.
Though, I too would love a remake of Wind Waker.
My predictions:
Kid Icarus
StarFox title with online and IR
Pikmin 3
Animal Crossing
whatever project Retro Studios has been working on
Wii Music
a "major" new IP or announcement from Nintendo, not a casual game either (yes, I am hopeful)... possibly Square-Enix related

After reading the steampunk Zelda idea weeks ago I got quite excited about the prospect, though I know it's 100% fake. Yet, now that I've read the last couple of posts about a new Zelda explaining the flooding of Hyrule, and Link as the main star and all that stuff I felt a little sick... ENOUGH Zelda!! There, I've said that for the first time, though I've been leaning towards it for a long time! How come people aren't absolutely SICK of the franchise?!
All right, I've calmed down a bit now...
