It has been almost 3 months since my last news post, so I just wanted to reassure people that everything is fine with the site. Although it will not be as complete as I had originally hoped, I intend to launch the new version of GSS before the summer is out. Work on GSW is currently still proceeding at a trickle, as my job and another project have left me with very little time for other substantial projects (like GSS and GSW). By the end of the summer I hope to have a better idea of where things stand with GSW long-term. I hope everyone is enjoying their summers, and thank you for continuing to visit the site and/or forums.

I have been following your development of GSW and GSS for over a year now, and i just can't help but wonder. you took GSW to a screeching halt to do something to GSS, which i have not seen any difference in. so i would like to put up a question that i am oblivious to: What kind of overhaul are you doing that is a fan site that is for a game that hasn't had any new content in years? GSS is already great, in both content and look and an advanced UI, what on earth are you improving? I really began to wonder when you let the GSW blog site go corrupt with no valid info on it anymore...

I've been gone for how long? Though I agree somewhat, I think you forget that this is his site and he has his own life aside from this.

Right now, the GSS home page consists of static HTML pages. If data needed to be added/changed to any one of them, you'd have to go in and edit the HTML files manually. Not to mention that if more than one file needed the same update in information, you'd have to go through those and edit them aswell.

Max is setting it up so that information can be added/changed/etc. via a database. Any pages that require any piece of information will link to it in said database. Therefore, if anything needs to be changed, you only have to edit one document rather than 2/3/etc. documents.

Does that make sense? Besides, we need a mian page to match the new forum layout. :unsure:

Toasty got the gist across. Over the years I've manually recoded and rewritten the site at least four or five times. While working on GSW, I realized that I needed access to alot of the raw data on the site, and I didn't think it made sense to copy that yet again. So I decide to put everything into a database that I can use to power the site as well as pull into GSW.

Also, if you actually looked at the site, you'd see that many of the pages are broken, are missing images, have spelling errors, etc. This revamp is my attempt to fix all of those issues, while also contributing something to the GSW effort. There are also some things like music and sprites which I will be adding or hugely expanding, respectively.

Some members such as Toasty, who have helped me with the new site have an idea of where I am headed. I just ask that you wait patiently, and hopefully when the new version of the site launches you will understand.

Thank you for those who answered my completely valid questions and concerns, now i do understand why why you would need to redo GSS before GSW. i do not appreciate those who shot back and told me to shut up, do you not think that i know Max does this in his free time? I think it is great that someone would put such hard work into something like this and not expect much back. I simply do not wish to see GSW end up like the 'C&C Reborn' project, they had the capability to create their mod faster, but it is still not finished. in the meantime, people have made more mods in half the time, and EA in about to release the next FPS in the series. now i am fully aware that GSW is not a mod, it is a game created from scratch on Max's time. Simply to relay the concept: all creation such as these have a ticking time bomb attached to them whether we like it or not. while the individual or small minority may wait longer, the overall validity of the project will eventually disappear. we will be patient yes, but time waits for no one, and GSW's clock is ticking.

P.S. §eeviper is NOT a Pokemon name. there is a pokemon named Seaviper, but one a pokemon nerd would know that. i did not know that this name was so similar to a name in a Japanese childern's franchise. i don't do Pokemon.

Maybe if there was more people involved in this project it would become an outstanding game ( I'm not saying it isn't but it would be better with even more people working on it). I wish I could help... but I'm merely a C++ novice programmer and I don't have skills in drawing nor in music...

Sooooooo my names Elias, when i was a few years younger under this name i frequented the GSA boards, but like many other Golden sun fans once i beat lost age and no sequel was truly announced my interest began to wane in sitting on the forum boards talking about how great a new golden sun would've been had the Takashi's not suddenly seemed to have developed a golf fetish. But after wanting to buy golden sun for my cousins 12th birthday (the age i was when i fisrt purchased played and worshipped this rpg masterpiece) i remembered my fondness for the game and its superbness. So i return here with a whoole lotta nostalgia in my mind i return for...no reason at all. nostaligia gets the best of me often so yeah. anybody here from the good old days? Yay GS!
