Its probably fu if loads of people in your areas play it but yeah Caael is right, you get one figure soemtimes that cost £30 pounds and then you ahve to learn the rule book and if bought seperate is something like £40 (when i last time checked it was that much, I was lucky I got a starter set) and then you have to paint them xD

It's actually cheaper to buy a battle force instead of each unit individualy. Unfortunatly, I found that out too late.

As for my army list:
1 Captain - combi-melta - Lightning claw - Artificer armor - Iron halo (going to change all that soon though) /145pts
1 Techmarine - full servo harness /100pts
3 Tactical Squads
_1 Missle Launcher - Flamer /166pts
_2 Missle launcher - Melta gun (I think) /170pts
_3 Melta gun - Plasma gun /170pts
1 Assault squad - power fist - 2 plasma pistols /135pts
1 Devistator squad - 2 Heavy bolters - lascannon - plasma cannon /175pts
1 Rhino - smoke screen - pintle mounted storm bolter /63pts
1 Preditor Destructor - smoke screen - pintle mounted storm bolter - Sponson mounted lascannons /163pts
1 Vindicator - extra armor - dozer blade (?) - smoke screen /148pts
Total: 1435pts (?)
Probably not the best list, or even a good one. And I feel bad for not knowing earlier that you can't have both a melta gun and a plasma gun in the same squad.

If I were to start up again, i'd either have Necrons or Tyranids, but i'm not likely to start again anyway.
#16

I like the Tyranids swarm style, but there's something I don't like about them that keeps me away.
I like the Tau bacause they're so good at ranged combat, even if they're pansies when it comes to CQC. But beyond battlesuits, they really don't have anything else that catches my eye.
I really like Chaos, and later on I'm planning on converting my existing Space Marines to Chaos. The modeling and conversion potential is insane. However, it's more of a "one of those days" kind of plan, as I still like my Space Marines.

But I might even chose Orkz because they look fun to play as. And to me the Tau seem like the only good (Well... the least bad) race in the game.

Ultramarines. I figured they would be the best choice because I've heard they are the easiest to learn with. Plus Blue and Yellow look great.
And yeah, I don't like the Blood Angels color scheme either.
I don't like the metal warboss models for the Orks. I prefer customizable plastic.
And the Wargear selection for Chaos is nonexistant.
I striped the paint from my commander, took him apart and put him back together with a Storm Sheild and a Power Sword, Adamantine Mantle and Artificer Armor (60pts of wargear total). I gave him a nice banner, then Re-painted him.

And those little black bits are only really visable when I put the camera light on them, otherwise they look mostly blue.
But once I get some more paints and a detail brush I will start making my models better.
Edit: Just finished my first Black Templar, not to shabby tried to make it a little grey around the edges of the power armour. I still hate those stupid jetpack things though.

If you're gonna go Tau, you'll need kroot, and for that, you best be good at mixing colours. It took me ages to get the perfect colour for my kroot skin, by mixing loads of colours.
Plus you have to have a big army if you're going to play Tau. If you just have a HQ and 2 squads, you're screwed because as soon as the enemy get in close, there's bugger all you can do really. You need to have a relatively big army, with quite a lot of kroot and tanks if you're going to be balanced out.

**** yeah!
If you're looking for personality, you can't miss with Chaos. Avoid races like Tyranids and Necrons. If you don't like chaos, my best suggestions would probably be IG, Eldar, or Orks. Orks is probably the best out of that list by the way. Plus they talk funny.

Mission type: Capture and Hold - 1000points
Special Rules: Space Marines know fear (ATSKNF disbled)
Army Lists:
DS:
Squad Stob (Store Bought) - Flamer and M.Launcher
Squad Imil - Plasma Gun and M.Launcher
Squad Garroh - Flamer - M.Launcher
Squad Vale - Jet packs - plasma pistols - power fist
Captain Felstorm - Artificer armor - Master - crafted power sword - storm sheild - adamantine mantle
Techmarine Ignatus - full servo harness
Vindicator Goliath
Potatoes:
Chaos Lord - Mark of Khonre - Combi-Melta - power fist
Berzerkers
CSM1 - mark of Khorne
CSM2 - mark of Slaanesh - meltagun - H.Bolter
Obliterators (2)
Possesed CSM (2)
Predtitor Annihilator
The map looks a little bit like this: http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/2663/deploymentyq7.png
We do a begining roll. I get 1, he rolls 3. Potatoes wants to go first.
Turn 1 - Matt
Matt moves his berzerkers up, along with CSM1-2, and moves his Preditor into the hallway, trying to get a shot at my Vindicator. He rolls and hits it three times, getting one penetrating hit, and destroying my Vindicator before it even has a chance to move.
Turn 1 - Me
With no one in range, I move all my untits towards the hallway.
Turn 2 - Matt
Matt moves all of his units up, forming almost a wall like formation, then fires his preditor's gun's at Imil 1, causing one casualty
Turn 2 - Me
Ready to get revenge, I move all my untis up except for Stob and Imil 2, who have both rocket launchers and LOS. Unfortuantly, both miss the target.
Turn 3 - Matt
Matt begins turn 3 by moving CSM2-2 on top of the blocks, hoping to get somew targets for his heavy bolter. He then begins to move the rest of his units around the blocks, trying to get at my infantry.
The preditor shoots at Imil 1 again, scoring yet another casualty.
CSM1-1 fires at my Captain, scoring 3 hits. 2+ saves are great tough to beat though, and all are saved.
CSM 2-1 shoots at Imil 1, scoring a discouraging 2 caualties, and leaving only one man left.
CSM2-2 shoots at Garroh, but all 3 hits are saved.
Turn 3 - Me
The lone Imil 1 Marine takes a morale test and passes. I move him up, hoping his plasma gun will be enough to tke out Matt's preditor.
I roll to allow Vale to Deep Strike behind the trousblesom Preditor, they land 5 inches to the left of it's backside, awfully close to Matt's Possesed, who have been sitting ignored with their Feel No Pain abilities.
Squad Stop and Imil 2 stay, readying another salvo of rockets.
Ingatus sats into postion as well, guading my relatively unprotected right right flank.
Garroh stays into position on my left flank, readying their bolters to Rapid Fire atCSM2-2.
Captain Felstorm moves in towards the trench, and I end my movement phase.
Garroh Rapid fires at CSM2-2, scoring a satisfying 2 casualties.
Ignatus shoots at CSM1-2, scoring 2 casualties
Stob and Imil both fire their rocket launchers at the Preditor, and both missles have no effect.
Sadly, I forgot about Vale sitting behing enemy lines - so much for my plan.
Turn 4 - Matt
Matt rolls to Deep Strike his Obliterators into the game. He rolls a hit...right next to Vale!
CSM1-1 and CSM1-2 forward. They both fire at Ignatus, attempting to avenge their fallen comrades. But CSM1-1 misses, and the shots from CSM1-2 are saved thanks to Ignatus' artificer armor.
CSM2-1 fires its H.Bolter at my Captain, dealing 1 wound.
The Preditor also shoots at my Captain. Amazingly, he recieves no damage.
The obliterators use their flamers on Vale in an attempt to protect the prescoiose vehicle, and burn 1 squad member.
Finally, Matt's six berzerkers charge my Captain, hitting him 10 times! Thankfully, all were saved and the Capatain managed to kill one of the attacking berzerkers in retalliation.
Turn 4 - Me
I move Vale closer towards the tank, desperate to destoy it before it can do anymore damage.
Imil1 takes his morale test, but fails and falls 3 inches back
Vale fires at the bakc of the tank, dealling no dame. Not much of a suprise there.
Garroh tunrs it's attention towards CSM2-2 and Rapid Fires, dealing no damage, however.
Ignatus shoots at CSM1-1, killing another heretical marine.
Stob and Imil fire at the tank, but the front armor is somply to strong and no damge is done to it again.
The Captain continues to fight with five berzerkers, killing yet another one of them. They retaliate, but their blows are blocked by the Captian's artificer armor.
Vale finaly comes through, destroying the tank with one glancing hit and one penetratnig hit. Now my troops can safely move into the hall.
Turn 5 - Matt
CSM Rapid Fires at Ignatus, still doing no damage.
CSM2-1 Rapid Fires at Garroh, the 1 wound they do is saved by Space Marine Power Armour.
The 4 berzerkers cause 2 wounding hits on my captain, both are saved yet again by his artificer armor. My captain fights back, killing another one of the blood-crazed chaos marines.
The Obliterators charge Vale, pissed about the blown out tank. But without their power fist's, they do no damage.
Turn 5 - Me
With turn 6 almost upon me, I move all available squads into the trentch. Imil 1 fails his morale test again, and keeps running the wrong way.
Stob and Imil 2 Rapid fire at CSM2-2, trying to hold them off. They do no damage.
My Captian still fights with is berzerkers, killing another. He's elliminated half the squad on his own by now.
The berzerkers fight back, but again fail to wound my captain.
Turn 6 - Matt
CSM2-2 shoots at Stob, dealing no damage
CSM1-1 and CSM 1-2 shoot at Imil 2, killing two of them.
The obliterators activae their power fist's and attack, but one of them ends up getting shredded to peices with chainswords instead.
Turn 6 - Me
The turn is mine now. Squad Garroh claims the objective just in time. Imil 1 is rallied back into the fight also.
Ignatus heads toward CSM2-2, and uses his flammer on them, but to no effect. Howevr, his Twin-linked plasma pistols fair better, and kill another traitor marine.
Captain Felstorm manages to get in one last kill, receive no damge in return
Vale and the Olbiterators fight eachother one last ime, but neither make any kills.
End Game
I got a sense that Matt was throwing the game around Turn 5. If he had moved CSM2-2 off the block and towards the objective, I might not have won.
I can't bleive that damn tank blew up my Vindicator on the first turn! That set me back a little. Luckily I was able to return the favor with Vale's suicide mission. With the tank gone, I could sent my troops in without being afraid of them getting fried by lascannons.

I don't have the 5ed rule book, but I know that there's a new rule called True Line of Sight, where LoS is measured from the model's point of view. Meaning you can't put your Chaos Lord on a mountain of skulls because this will make him taller and easier to pick out for your enemies. Which sucks because a Chaos Lord on a mountain of skulls would look really cool on the tabletop.
I also heard vehicles can ram other vehicles and are a bit harder to kill.

Chaos for the win.
And I wanna re-paint for old guys because let`s face it, they were painted by an anxious 14 year old, and they suck. Can I just dip (spray, whatever) them with black paint, and it will just cover it up? Or do I have to do something ``special.``

That depends on how thick the paint you put on them is. If it's not too bad, than by all means, just spray them. If it's too thick, soak them in brake fluid and scrub them clean with a toothbrush.
