Another one of those storybook games, I knew it.
It still looks bizarre to me. I can't see the game having a fast pace if Sonic's got to stop to swing a sword.

If they gloss over the sword thing and don't make it an intense focus, as in Sonic stopping every 5 seconds to get into an elaborate duel, this could quite interesting. As long as it stays a new attack and nothing more, that would be awesome. That probably won't happen, though.

Better an original concept that's been proven and works, and not one destined to fail.

Sonic games (the better ones) are about speed and keeping pace, the combat shouldn't break it up, that would only detract from the game. Hence why it's a good decision.

I don't see how it's possible to engage in swordcombat at speed though. The only comparison I can make would be having a swordfight between two formula 1 cars.

Agreed. I could maybe see different strengths of enemies, so some you could slash through with no thought, others would take several hits, making you avoid them like the plague. It could be an incentive to avoid enemies.

They might make it so you press a button and Sonic just sticks his sword in front of him for a few seconds, sorta like a dash attack but with no change in speed.
