YEs, that's right, it's a car with fabric skin. It can alter the shape of it's body (to an extent) so as to adjust for varying speed, allowing easier entering and eixting of the vehicle, increased or decreased air intake, etc., etc., etc.
If this car wasn't a prototype destined for a museum, I'd buy one.

Even if you could buy one, it would no way be road safe. I mean, a fabric body instead of metal. There is a crumple zone at the front of the car where the body work is supposed to crumple to absorb the impact, with this that's gone.
But other than that, it's a pretty cool idea. If they used a better material for it it would be awesome.

That was on Top Gear some while ago. I guess they could make it safe by making a role-cage like system around the motor that could crumple. It looks fun and is pretty awesome but it's more of a gadget then a car.

I imagine that the skeleton of the car would be more than suitable for protection in crashes if they made it for the road. The body panels on a normal car don't usually play any major role in crash protection other than shileds for flying debris/etc. The frame of the car is what usually absorbs most of the impact.

The whole car is made out of one sheet of... some material. So one small tear, or big one and repairing it will mean with string and thus make it fricking ugly.
