All right, so folks, I am in need of help.
I have a major project due in three days for my World Studies class on South Africa. My topic is on languages and their presence/impact in South Africa. It sounded easy enough, just had to write a 6 page paper and prepare a poster board.
It turns out there are 11 official languages. Har har har, thank you karma.
At any rate, I've got to pull together a cohesive theme for my presentation. I'm thinking I was going to tie in the different languages with the development of post-Apartheid South Africa in 1994 (with the felling of racially oriented policies), and I need help with sources. Any sites that breakdown the languages and/or linguistics, the peoples that speak each one, any resources, maps, etc. would really mean a lot. I also need suggestions on what pictures/visuals I can use on my posterboard, besides maps, since we have to give an oral presentation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've already done alot of searching, but I just have so much going on as finals approach. Just a collection of good posts, links, essays, information, pictures, etc. would do me so much immense help.
It really means a lot, thanks everyone.

Wikipedia is always useful, but apart from that...
www.cyberserv.co.za/users/~jako/lang/ - Language histories
www.southafrica.info/about/people/language.htm - Distribution, culture
www.sa-venues.com/sa_languages_and_culture.htm - Dialects and adoption
www.ethnologue.com/show_country.asp?name=South+Africa - Distribution statistics
You said you wanted essays as well, this might be helpful.

Split, thanks for the links. I didn't have the latter two and they're very useful.
Skidz, obviously I have. I've created an outline for my paper, as I do with every assignment, and I've broken it down into the key ideas, though I do need to expand to a few more. I just don't have the volume of information to expand it into a full paper, hence this topic. I was also hoping to find some material to fill up my posterboard with.

Man it looks like you've got a fair bit of work to do too. I get to spend my Sunday finishing my English Literature coursework.
