For christ's sake skidz, speak for yourself. first off, I'm a protestant, not a catholic, and my christianity doesn't influence me as much as you think. Whether I believed in christianity or not, I wouldn't ever do drugs.
My main reason for not doing drugs is because they're not healthy. Doesn't matter what anyone says, it's not healthy to be inhaling anything but what makes up an average cubic foot of fresh, clean air. The human body was not designed to run on smoke of any kind. Same thing goes for any other drug. If the body was meant to ingest cocaine or whatever, it wouldn't filter it out of your system as if it were a poison.
And I've got more common sense than to just believe that ingesting something will help me become "enlightened".
So shut the hell up.

lawl, neither is fast food. and no, im not comparing fast food to cocaine, im comparing it to dope, mushrooms, ecstasy. Mushrooms dont have a yearly deathtoll because its not high enough (sometimes its zero), ecstasy has around 20 a year, and weed cant kill. Now a quick search on google can tell you how many people die as a result of eating excessive fast food. The human body wasn`t designed to run on processed food on any kind. Bitch please, think out your arguements before you come in here.

Funny thing is, Skidz, that I haven't eaten fast food for the past...3 years? Save for when it was the only think available to me. And when that was the case, I'd order something that had a chicken fillet in it, since chicken is healthier than beef, and usually any chicken that isn't a filet in fast food, is just a whole chicken ground up into a paste.
People weren't meant to eat fast food, because fast food isn't really even food anymore.
My point is, Skidz, that even if more people die from obesity every year than drugs, drugs are still treated as a poison in your system. That means they aren't supposed to be there.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not some kinda health nut or anything. I just try to stay away from stuff that was clearly not meant to be eaten.

Fast food = legal
Illegal drugs = illegal
Illegal drugs are hazardous to your health. Legal fast food is also hazardous to your health.
Both can make your death come faster.
But what will kill in the largest amount? The one that's illegal and not as easy to obtain, or the one that's perfectly legal and readily available? Either way I don't really see why you two are arguing about this.

Yeah, but the deservingness (there`s a word, can`t tink of it, sue me) of the illegality of weed is always under question. You can`t use the law for this areguement, because we both know it`s flawed. (the law, not your arguement).
Well since weed and mushrooms carry no to little deaths, even if it was readily available fast food would still be more detrimental.

Whether people actually consume either of those or not, and how many people die from consuming either one is not the question here Skidz. You keep on trying to refute my argument with something that's only barely related to it.
My point is about how the body treats these substances. Not about how many people die from them. The thing is, whenever you take drugs or processed foods or whatever into your body, your body treats it as either waste, or poison, and filters it out of your system accordingly. If your body isn't using those substances to grow or maintain itself, then chances are it's not supposed to be there in the first place.

Don't bother pulling out any studies. All studies on the effects of marijuana are inconclusive. If you find a study that says one thing about maryjane, I'm sure I could take a minute or two and find a study that says otherwise. The only reason it's illegal is because of propaganda. It's BEEN legal for over 99% of it's discovered existence. That dates back to around 6000/7000 B.C.
Not only that, the uses of the cannabis plant are endless. The first woven fabric was made using hemp. It's been used in food and as rope, amongst other things. There was even a law in Virginia during the 1600s that stated that all farmers MUST grow hempseed. That law was kept in place for over 200 years.
It wasn't until America got uncomfortable with the flow of Mexicans moving in on the united states that used Marijuana as drug that made America criminalize it (with the help of hysterics from the catholic church, mind you. What a reliable group of people they are, eh?) Or something like that. I'm too high to care right now. ;D

This. This this this this this. Toasty, your mesiah himself probably used the marijuana plant. It's almost fact that many hallucinogens were around in that age, meaning that many high end political figures probably used them too. You forget that almost everything the human body does isn't good for it. You are aware that humans didn't even KNOW what Anandamide was until they started studying the effects of Marijuana, right? And, no, it doesn't sound like such a bad idea to me. I don't really understand how you can see as Marijuana as so harmful, though. In order for Marijuana to be fatal, you'd have to smoke 1500 lbs within a 15 minute time frame. It's "safety ratio" is 1000:1, with alcohol at 10:1, cocaine at 15:1, and heroin at 6:1. Dangerous ****in' drug, eh? 1500 lbs of that ****'ll kill you! And if you take a lower dosage, that demon of a drug will relax you, make you hungry and make you happy, and quite possibly leave you inspired!
How many people die a year from drunk drivers? In the past 10 or so years, the average drunk driving related deaths per year in America have been in the 42000 range. How many people have died in Cannabis related Car accidents? ****, I don't think they even bother counting. I've tried driving high, and god damn I felt like I should slow down when I was going at 20km/h under the speed limit.
I guess that's a little bit irrelevant? I dunno, the point I was trying to make (or am trying to make now XD) is that Marijuana is not nearly as bad as it's hyped up to be, and the negative side-effects, when compared to the amount of things the plant could be used for that would have a positive effect.. it's just ridiculous. We haven't even gotten the CHANCE to study Marijuana extensively for it's analgesic uses because we've spent all of our time doing studies to prove that it's a terribly harmful drug, which clearly is pointless because they've all been inconclusive.

Even if you get lucky and your brain is fine, other parts of your life will be ruined-- because it will change you, and most often it changes people in unpleasant ways. You will push people away--your loved ones, family, even friends-- because they loved you for who YOU were, without pot. But once the addiction to this darker, cooler side of you with pot takes over, you convince them that that person is no more, and that you're so "badass" and "street smart"...and really, you know it's just a facade to cover up the insecurity and loneliness.
Tell me honestly that none of this has happened, and I'll rest my case, Percy.

Sorry, but on that note, I have to disagree. Most pot smokers smoke with friends, or in groups.
Other, more serious drugs may cause you to become a loner, but pot likely won't do that. Though I suppose it could push you away from your family.
And I think I'll quote myself from an MSN convo I just had with PDM.

I have to take off my clothes, feel the cold air, splash the water across my bare skin. And dance. I'll dance a ghost dance. I'll bring them back. Can you hear the drums? I hear them, and it's my grandfather and my grandmother singing. Can you hear them?
I dance one step and my sister rises from the ash. I dance another and a buffalo crashed down from the sky onto a log cabin in Nebraska. With every step, an Indian rises. With every other step, a buffalo falls.
I'm growing, too. My blisters heal, my muscles stretch, expand. My tribe dances behind me. At first, they are no bigger than children. Then they begin to grow, larger than me, larger than the trees around us. The buffalo come to join us and their hooves shake the earth, knock all the white people from their beds, send their plates crashing to the floor.
We daance in circles, growing larger and larger until we are standing on the shore, watching all the ships returning to Europe. All the white hands are waving good-bye and we continue to dance, dance untilthe ships fall off the horizon, dance until we are so tall and strong that the sun is nearly jealous. We dance that way.

Possibly because "Well if Marijuana is legal, why can't cocaine be legal?" and other things being brought up by people once Marijuana is legalized.
That may or may not happen, but it's certainly a possibility, and I'm sure there's a few people out there who would think that way.

Other, more serious drugs may cause you to become a loner, but pot likely won't do that. Though I suppose it could push you away from your family.
And I think I'll quote myself from an MSN convo I just had with PDM.
"Still, whether maryjane is bad for your brain
or not
It can't be good for your lungs"
Hey, i've always maintained that one of the few bad things that weed does is lung damage; didn't have to point that one out :)

No Toasty. See, Marijuana has lesser effects so if tobbaco and alcohal, substances with worse effects, are legal then why shouldn't weed? On the flip, cocaine is waaaaay worse than all those three, so why would one being legal preclude cocaine being legal?

The above text does not give an idea of exactly how utterly impossible Ork technology is. When it is basically accepted that an Ork given a stick (and successfully convinced it is a gun, likely not difficult) can actually make it fire bullets, you know you've stumbled into some deep magic.
"Their numbers are limitless. Their malice infinite. To know them is madness. The Daemons of Chaos are the most feared of foes; they are liars one and all, but it is the truth that damns us above all. They are here because we want them to be. They shall kill us because we deny that want. The Galaxy shall die not in blood and fire, but with a realization: Chaos can not be Denied!"

Because not everyone sees drugs the way you do. Some people, likely those who have never tried pot, but have tried other drugs, will try to make the case that other drugs should be legalized if pot is made legal.
It's the same thing as people saying "Well if gays can marry, why can't I marry my 5 year-old niece/daughter?" Sure, the latter is far more of an extreme than gay marriage, but people have already been making those statements in states where gay marriage has been legalized.
Saying that what I suggested will never happen is a pretty ignorant statement.

Here I have to draw the line. Your usual strawmen arguments and displaced causation of logic are testing my patience. They are not the same thing. They are separate issues. You might have an active agenda against gays/lesbians/bis that's founded on baseless claims - and thus need to use whatever false analogy to justify your homophobia - but people who have even an iota of brain power will not fall for it.

I used it as an example to show that if you push the line a little farther to please some people, other people will try to make a case for you to push it even further.
Also, take note that I never said gay marriage was a bad thing in that post. I did that on purpose because I didn't want to start a whole other argument.

As far as i'm aware, weed has no addictive chemicals in it at all, getting addicted to weed is the same as getting addicted to videogames or something similar; it's because of weak willpower, nothing to do with the drug.

This is arbitrary. If you "push" the line further to please "some" people, "other" people will try to make to push "it" further. The lack of specificity and the openness of your words allow it to be interpreted very negatively. It is meant to sway people and change their minds, to have them worry about these "others" who will swoop in and suddenly change everything.
It's not an argument. It's a baseless claim founded on nothing but on arbitrary appeal to emotion, under the pretense of being a cohesive and structured causation that's only assumed.

If I make it more specific, I run the risk of making it look like pushing the line is either good or bad. It's up to you to decide whether or not I meant it like that, and since you disagree with me on quite a number of things, I should've expected that you'd interpret it like you did.
Whether "pushing the line" is good or bad isn't the issue (though in the case of pushing the line to make weed legal, it could be bad). The point I'm making, is that if you do push the line, other people will try to get it pushed even more.
You can always put your foot down to prevent the line from moving one way or another, but that doesn't always work once the line gets moving.
Hopefully that got the point across that I was trying to make.

The answer is easy if you take it logically
I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
She said it's really not my habit to intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning won't be lost or misconstrued
But I'll repeat myself, at the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover
Just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
Don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
Don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free
