England-Algeria really showed how this is not the World Cup for the big teams, alongside the losses for Spain and Germany. I can understand France falling hard as they lost Zidane, and Italy really needs fresh blood, but there's really little excuse going into the last round of group matches to not be at the top of the group.

Nope. R/S didn't have that either. It's one thing that made G/S/C so great. It basically doubled the playtime.

I do think it offers a safari thing or something where you can re-catch your pokes from the R/S series in the safari zone, though.

I enjoyed it when I was younger but the general gameplay doesn't seem as fun now. It's fairly repetitive, and the early stages where you're going around fighting Pidgeys and Rattatas, taking out bugs and such are not fun.

IIRC You can trade after you reach the first major town. Once you discover the global trading station, you can trade online with friends... or somethang. It's been awhile since I've played D/P/P. I *just* found my DS again, so if you need any specific pokemon I can probably help you out. I've not got any D/P/P starters, but I can give you a bulbasaur/chikorita and squirtle.
