Novelization What do you think?

Hi guys,
it's been a while. How are you?
I was thinking it would be nice to make a novelization of Golden Sun. I bought a DS last year, but I have to admit that I still have not played an RPG on that system that is as good as Golden Sun. However, because I bought the DS I came in touch with some new RPG's (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest) which made me think of the good old Golden Sun series. The great story, the battles, the world map, everything in that game was and still is amazing. And because of the great story, I would love to make a novel of it. It may sound stupid; in fact it's rewriting a story that someone else has created. But wouldn't it be great to have a solid book with the Golden Sun story in it? Books have such a longer lifespan than games. Maybe this is a way to get people to experience this great story. I've been waiting for years for such a book to come out, but it never came. So, why wouldn't I at least give it a try?
I came to this idea when I saw Raymond Benson (check out his websitehttp://www.raymondbenson.com ) made a novel of Metal Gear Solid which was amazing in my opnion. My conclusion was that games can make great books.
There are a few problems, though. First of all, I'm Dutch, and I'm not sure I am good enough at English to write in that language. A Dutch version will be much easier for me to write, but a Dutch novel will get to a lot less people, unless somebody is willing to translate it. Second, it will take a while; I go to university now and I have to spend quite a lot time doing homework and such. And finally, I have no idea what rights I need to do this; I can't just write it and send it to a publisher, that would be plagiarism.
What do you think about this? Worth the while or waste of time? I hope you like the idea; maybe you have some ideas about how it can be done best.

Do it if you want to. You shouldn't care how many people are going to read it. If you want a GS novel to exist, then make one exist.

Nice, thanks :D.
I'll at least give it a try (in Dutch and English), maybe it will work out.

A book?....
The halo book wasn't successfull, so why do you think a GS one wouold do any better?
Maybe a movie, but not a book.

Because you know, novelization = book. ;) He means to write it for his own enjoyment (and obviously others becuase he doesn`t want to do it unless other people will read it) not try and sell it to a fucking publisher.

A movie or anime series would be great too, but that isn't something I'm capable of making ;)
Of course, writing the story would be for my own enjoyment and of course for others (if they're interested). It's not that I don't want to write it unless other people will read it, but if you write a novel while nobody wants to read it would be a little, how do I put this, weird? I'd like a GS novel to exist, even if it would be only for myself, but the more people read it, the better.
By the way, I tried to make a start last week (in dutch :) ) and it's quite hard, but fun. I'll try to make a prologue or something in English to see how it wil work out. I'll show you when it's done.
And above all that, thanks for the reactions! Nice to read what you have to say about it.

How is it weird? You got to read it. You get to feel good that you acomplished something of that magnitude. Plus....you get a GS3.
And Tolkien started writing The Book Of Lost Tales (part of the Middle Earthaverse) with absolutely no intention of showing it to anybody. Alot of writers do that. Alot of non-writers write poems, songs, raps, stories that they never show off. Writing something just so that other people can aknowledge it and give you props for it is a little pathetic (not in any way saying this is what you are doing, I`m just saying in general).
I say go for it, and if the people here or otherwise don`t like it, **** `em.

You're totally right, that's the way to put it. Thanks for the heads up ;)

How do you know they've read it if they're not your friends?
