Suprised actually to see no excisting topic of this. Or at least, a recent one. ^^ Anyways, let's discuss sports - and no, not the sports you watch on tv. Sure we can't all be as beefed up as Toasty with his manly body of godlyness, but sure you guys to ocasionally lift a dumbell right?

I was never a sporty type really, but since a year I've been going to the gym with some nice results. Didn't really started to get 'into' it untill I was there for about... 5 months or so. Never believed that excercising actually was adicting as I heard people say, but damn I can't picture my week without excercise now.

So basically, what do you do to get or stay physicall fit? Everything counts. And please, no bragging. Yes you Toasty.

I used to be all bulked up and stuff, when I was in high school, but I stopped and lost it all. Believe me though, the hardest thing to do is to start lifting again after you have stopped.

I'm taking weight lifting as an elective at school. Haven't really seen much improvement though.

Tennis and football. I'm pretty good at tennis and play at a reasonably high level. As for football, I'm quite good at that, but my team is more of friend's team than a real competitive one.

I try to do exercises that I've chosen for myself as often as I can(almost every day), and I've been doing them actively since August. The result is definitely noticable. I've always been quite thin, but people have started noticing that I've become pretty burly. I do push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, neck exercises, leg exercises, different ways of weight lifting and other stuff. I do them all at home and in one go, with short pauses of one minute or so in between each exercise. I've always found going to the gym to be pretty stupid when you can do similar yet less dangerous stuff at home and get the same effect. I can do about 60 push-ups in one go.

Also, at academy we do all kinds of very diffcult work-outs almost every day, and many of these workouts go on for hours.

Plus, I love walking since it's one of the rare things that really gets me relaxed and gives me the chance to think clearly about everything that's been going on in my life, so I walk a couple of miles every day.

Lately I've been in great shape and feel stronger and healthier than I've ever felt in my life.

                      Dang.....

I do nothing. leik, srsly. I just sit on my ass all day, and I can still push 500+ pounds with my legs. 1000 if it's just my calves.

ANYWAY. I'm incredibly out of shape at the moment. Not fat wise, but I can't run flat-out for more than 50-75 meters without gasping for air.

Hopefully the conditioning we do during tennis practice will fix that.

[EDIT] also, everything in this post is true.

I could before winter came around. I think I might actually be able to do the 100m dash, but I haven't tried running that far when my muscles werent sore in quite a while.

I love to play basketball in the summer. I'm 6'2, 175 pounds, so i'm a pretty good point guard. I live in minnesota so all the courts are all unusable right now. Either way i'm a pretty active guy. My license have not been achieved yet so I walk everyday to get to A to B. Sometimes i'll get rides though. I consider myself naturally fit, really.

For some reason though, I used to be stronger before Thanksgiving break. Now it feels like I can't lift as much.

I scored two goals and missed a penalty in my last match.

                                            That's how good I am.

Weight training for me was only 90 minutes and I got some nice muscle definition out of it. 90 minutes of lifting stuff every day can get you far, dude, if you eat right and know what you're doing.

90 minutes is pretty long I think. Especially when your doing that every day. O.o You need to rest to you know. Can't be pumping those biceps everyday. Most muscle groups at least need 3 days rest or so. At least, that's how I do it. You grow when you rest.

But yeah, food indeed is important. Most important factor in training really. And good night rest of coarse.

Oh and I'm currently thinking of practicing a material art. But I don't quite know what to do. Kick boxing comes to mind, but I find that a little too... simple, and brute. Anyone with ideas?

I was thinking of playing hockey or golf when I go to university. Hockey because of the rich parent's kids in my team and golf isn't to bad for networking either.

                                                  I'm so ambitious...

Parkour requires unbelievable amounts of muscle and strength. The sheer effort of jumping across a gap onto a ledge and then pulling your own body weight up would tire most people out.

Ok, well, I lied. There has been a slight improvement in my strength since I started weight training, but only a little since the class is only an hour and a half long and I only have it every other day.
For some reason though, I used to be stronger before Thanksgiving break. Now it feels like I can't lift as much.

That's because going from no weight training every day to doing it every other day for 90min. is hard on your muscles. They'll feel sore and weak for a while until they recover.

Eat a lot of protein, or get some protein powder/shake. Don't get muscle milk though. They're getting sued by a bunch of people over something.

I'd actualy highly suggest a product called PROVANTAGE by Reliv. Taken with their NOW product, it's really good for building muscle.

It's a powder, and my mom takes some of their other products for her fibermialgia or whatever it's called.

It's basically a near perfect balance of nutrients that your body can easily absorb.

Anyway, I took weight training as a freshman (90 minutes, five times a week), and that provantage stuff really worked for me.

Well if I'm able to finish marathon training and the marathon. I think I could do it.

Leg muscles dont cut it. They're good for running and jumping but the rest is all in the arms and torso. Incredibly hard work, unless you're very muscled on the upper body, work out before doing parkour.

To be honest though, parquor does take a bit more leg muscle than upper body strength. That's not to say you should have somewhat beefy arms and abs, but you want to be as light as possible while still having a good amount of muscle.

One reason why I can jump so high is because most of my muscle is in my legs. I don't have much excess weight in either muscle or fat anywhere else. I still need to work a lot on my arms though.

You do more climbing/pulling in parkour than running. And as far as I'm aware, running doesn't take half the amount of effort/strength as pulling your whole body weight up something.

                                                                I'd know, I do it.

And I'd know too, because I do it as well.
