If you don't like Mac OS X, then just install XP/Vista on it. Simple as that.
If you must have non-mac hardware for whatever reason, go look at Lenovo's line. They've got good stuff (and at somewhat more affordable prices too).

And how old is it?
Also, I'm assuming you don't know, but there's a huge difference between virtual memory and physical memory. Virtual memory can be as massive as you have hard drive space. It's your page file. It's also really slow.
Like Max, I can't say much for their consumer laptops, but I've heard nothing but good things about Thinkpads, and I can say from experience that they're very well built.
However, they aren't very flashy looking.

Unless they're just Flash applets, those are fine.

I wouldn't go for Lenovo just due to personal experience, though it might just be because mine is going on 3 years old now.

Fixed.
Macs are beasts when it comes to anything related to media. The media software for Macs are abundant and well made.
If you're doing buisness stuff then a Mac is horrible, solely because it pales in comparison to the buisness related programs available on windows.
And I'd say it's just your experience. I consider Lenovo to be the best non-mac laptop manufacturer out there.
If you're looking for something on a budget, get a Gateway or an HP. Not a fan of them (used to love Gateway, but not anymore), but they're better than Dell IMO.

HELL NO. GET THAT THING AWAY.
I already told you what you should look for, and I'd say I have a good amount of credibility on my belt. Seriously, don't get a dell. At least, not that dell.

Don`t waste your breath. Like Caael said, we tried to help, he ignored every suggestion you guys gave. Tough shit for him then.
