The government is trying to find ideas on how to get high-speed internet access to every home in America. They're even asking, and promoting, that civilians offer ideas on how to do so.
Google decided to help out with the latter:

If you live in America (or even if you don't, I suppose), head on over and submit some ideas. Then vote on the ideas that others have already submitted.
Though I have come across some pretty hilarious suggestions. Like "Use the water pipes to pass through data, using high power lasers."
I also don't see how anyone could think that you could get a reliable, secure, high speed connection through powerlines. It's even harder to do that than it is to do it through phone lines (Like DSL).
And consumer WiFi routers with public and private zones so anyone can connect to your router and bumb off your bandwidth? Who the hell thinks of these things?
[EDIT]
"Open source, public-accessible satellite(s)."
**** YEAH! FREE MISSLES!
