Any games you're waiting until Christmas for? My main one is Tekken 6. I just saw a preview for it and... damn. It looks incredible.

None. Not only for games, none for all. I don't want anything for Christmas. The things I want can't be bought with money, and sadly depend on the friendship and good will of people, which I'm sure will let me down just as it does most often.

On a lighter note, I'm going to be playing Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City soon enough. :)

No gaems this year, I've already bought every game I want sans Assassin's Creed 2 and Dragon Age. I just want money and like two neat decorative items for my room I saw in a store.

IF I were to ask for games, it'd be AC2 and DA.

I have to admit, it's less games for me than it used to be. Maybe we'll all growing up...

I'm looking to get a Radeon HD 5770, a Core 2 Duo E8400, one or two cheap USB keyboard and Mice (lack of plug-and play capability with my PS/2 ones is killing me), possibly another Samsung 943BWX (If I can even find one. I don't think they're made anymore) and a new DVD burner. I think mine's failing on me.

I'd really like to build a whole new computer with Intel's Core i7 or something, but I don't have the funds. Nor will I for quite some time, even if I do get a job.

Aside from computer parts, the 60GB PS3 at my local gamestop would be nice. Or maybe a 360 Elite.

What's with the outdated hardware? I mean seriously, you could build a better rig for less money if you use newer parts than what you've got there.

It's not like the Q9650 has gotten all that much cheaper now that the Core i7 and i5 parts are out.

The Core i7 920 performs a lot better for $100+ less.

A pair of HD5870's will also outperform your HD4870X2's, for a comparatively small premium (you're dealing with pretty high prices here, after all).

and BD-R capable drives aren't worth the money. You're better off just spending $50 on one that can just read Blu-ray discs, instead of $200 on one that's write capable.

Also, Velociraptors are practically meaningless now that we have really good SSD's available on the market. But really, a pair of WD Caviar Black drives in RAID0 will give you plenty of performance. If you want redundancy, get a third and put 'em in a RAID5 instead, or just get 4 and put them in a RAID1+0 or someting.

Oh yeah, don't mess with water cooling unless you really know what you're doing. Their a pain to maintain.

The main reason why I want older(but still perfectly capable of an ass kicking), and far from outdated, parts is because I want the pci and pci-e slots on the motherboard... I looked into some motherboards for i7 and I tried to configure it in my head and I ran short. I want all of those expansion cards and the rampage extreme is the only one that can fit all of them right.

The graphics cards, network card, and sound card are arguably the best on the market. And im sure that 8GB of DDR3 at 2GHz can handle anything. As for why I chose a Velociraptor, it is more astectically pleasing.

The 4870X2 is not the best on the market. The GTX 295 gets better framerates in most games because Nvidia makes better drivers (among other reasons), and as far as sheer computing power goes, the HD5870 beats the 4870X2 hands down (twice the FLOPS, even). Besides, I'd be surprised if you could find a 4870X2 form an online retailer that isn't going to charge an arm and a leg for it, because most major online retailers (Newegg comes to mind) aren't stocking it anymore since it's being replaced by other cards. And don't tell me you're getting it from a store, because that's just ridiculous. Nobody buys computer parts from a store anymore, because they charge a premium.

As for your reasoning behind the motherboard, picking one almost solely based on it's slot layout is kind of ridiculous, There's no point in having all those slots if your system isn't capable of realizing the potential of the cards inserted into those slots.

That being said, and while I prefer Gigabyte over ASUS, this board should do you fine:
                                      http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131482

The LGA 1156 based CPU's are also more technologically advanced than the LGA 1366 based ones. The Core i7 800 series is hardly mainstream, despite what some people might say. Those CPUs will, without a doubt, run circles around that Q9650 you had in mind.

[EDIT] Looks like Gigabyte has an X58 board that will work too:
                                      http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128375

And here's a P55 Gigabyte motherboard that will also work:
                                      http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128400

You just need to search a bit harder. And the chord on the Hauppauge TV tuner looks to be long enough for you to move the expansion bracket a few slots away from where the card is installed.
