Red Dead Redemption delayed from April 27th to May 18 for NA, May 21 internationally. This article cites extra marketing time as the reason.

Rockstar additionally says from their website that the delay is to add extra polish. Frustrating, as this is my most anticipated game this year, but I suppose it's for the best. I'd rather wait 3 weeks than wade through endless patches to play a good game.

Jesus. I've only watched a minute of it because the place I'm staying at right now has slow connection but, this could be the best footage we've seen yet. All of that combat footage we've seen is nice, but I personally buy sandbox games to experience the world itself, and this looks like the best example I've seen of a living, breathing world.

GTA IV was the most entertaining tech demo I've ever played.

In it's defense, GTA III was also the first GTA game in its engine and the games that came after it were much better. Expect to see GTA: Los Venturas or what have you with the same engine and much better gameplay than IV.

It was called Red Dead Revolver and was a third person level-based shooter for the PS3 and Xbox.

Revolver came out about a year before the 360 was released, and 2 before the ps3 xD. there was like tech demos and shit of a RDR2 on the 7th gen consoles, but it essentially became redemption.

It does, I think it has all the GTA IV gametypes but with RDR twists. Like races will be with horses.

Besides freeroam mode, I'm most looking forward to Capture the Bag (of gold.) Match has two towns at either end of a stretch of desert, the object is to steal the opposing posse's gold and bring it back to your town. The catch... The battlefield between the towns is littered with old school lead ball cannons and turrets.

You can even dress your avatar up as a native american for multiplayer, so theoretically you could have a cowboy vs. indians thing going on.

Tl;dr version:

• Five gametypes as opposed to GTA IV's 15
  
• Freeroam, Hold Your Own (CTF), Gold Rush (sort of like a free-for all CTF) Gang Shootout, and Shootout (death matches)
  
• Freeroam has pretty much everything you can do in SP, minus story missions.
  
• Dead-eye is available in some form for MP. Available in all modes but Freeroam. The article says it's bullet-time, but the only way that could work is if time is slowed for everyone as you watch one dude shoot everybody. That sounds REALLY annoying, the only way I can see it justified is if it can only be used so many times by everyone in one match.
  
• My favorite thing about this article is that FINALLY, out of all of the previewers who have spent time with the game, this one finally describes the aiming system in RDR:

Anyway, Red Dead hopefully won't wind up a sleeper hit and will in fact start off popular due to the success of the first game <3

GTA IV was good up until you started doing all the mafia stuff. Then the plot just kind of got half arsed and forgot what it was doing. You're only introduced to the antagonist by about 2/3 through the game so the last few hours or so were just a bit of a clusterfuck of parallel narratives blending in with each other.

Oh of course, that's the main appeal of the game, dont get me wrong. The missions just felt forced for the sake of making the game longer; when they could have ended it a few hours earlier and had a much more rounded set of missions. Though I suppose narratively that would leave open ends.

Eh, RDD looks purdy <3 The posse system I dont fully understand though; in the video it mentions multiple times that you and your posse can bump into other posse's whilst roaming. Does that mean while in free roam you're paired with other random groups?

Welllll I don't know this for sure but from what I pieced together:

Multiplayer starts without a lobby, you get plopped down in the open world in freemode and wait for other people to join. No posses are formed yet, but as people join you can invite them into your posse as if you were looking for a party in an MMO.

Once that's all set, you can move through the map to find a game mode, like finding rampages or other activities in a GTA game. Or you can just do it from the menu.

I imagine that you can make posses be auto-assigned if you select a gametype from the menu.

From the way they make it sound its not like PvP in posse mood per say but I'm not overly for sure how they plan on working the system when it comes to the free roam play of it...you play Marsden in the main story line right...? So...technically they would have to try to make the characters in the multiplayer differ somehow..?Oh shiza nevermind...video explained the basics... >.>

If I put down 5 dollars for a pre-order of RDR, I pay 55 dollars up front when I pick it up. So no, you don't really lose anything. With that said, I'm not pre-ordering RDR because none of the bonuses appeal to me.
