Then the second one came out, and I was hooked. This looks like it'll be pretty good.

Something like, 7th or 8th grade, so about 3 or 4 years ago I guess. I just never bothered to be very vocal about it on GSSF because most of the stuff that's come out hasn't been worth mentioning imo. Not bad, just not good enough to say anything like "HEY WATCH THIS," or something.
Except for TTGL, this, and a small number of others.

That's what I'm seeing, at least.
Still, they are pretty similar.

enough genuinely funny stuff to counteract the tragic backstories

It's pretty freaking good.

the twist at the end was pretty fucking awesome
but for too much of the series, it couldnt decide if it wanted to poignant or just plain ridiculous

[EDIT] Have to say, I'm enjoying the GirlDeMo album that Key put together. Pretty good stuff.

Why didn't I see this earlier?
On a side note, I got the piano sheet music for the opening theme (not official, but good enough), so I've been learning to pay that. Got about half of it so far, but dang it's hard. The opening has taken me the most time to get down so far.
Then I decided to learn Clannad Afterstory's opening theme by listening to the mp3. I've actually been having some success, but it's also pretty freaking hard.

So far, song three on disc 1 is my favorite. It's a remix of "A song to pass the time" (aka Toki wo Kizamu Uta). But that's probably a given since I was already a huge fan of that song.
