[Someone Else]

Use this thread to nominate an old topic to be moved to the Classics forum. If the topic was funny, informative, or in some other way notable to you, it qualifies! Here's the guidelines of how to nominate a topic:

• Post the title and a link to the topic in this thread, and it will be added to a list of pending topics. You can add as many topics as you want to the list at any time.
  
• If you a see a topic in the pending list that you think deserves to go to the Classics board, simply post that you support it. A topic needs to have at least two votes to qualify to become classic.
  
• Every week, the qualifying topic with the most votes will move to the Classics forum. In other words, if two topics qualify, the one with the most votes wins. So if you like a topic and it already has two votes, vote for it again to make sure it gets moved here sooner.
  
• You can vote twice every week, but again, you can add as many topics to the list as you want at any time.
  
• On the flip side, if you don't think a topic on the list should be made classic, you can use your votes to instead remove a pending topic from the list. A topic needs at least two votes against it for it be removed. Keep in mind that these votes don't necessarily cancel each other out. If somebody votes for a topic to be made classic and then you vote to denominate the same topic as well, that's one vote to make the topic classic and one vote to remove it from the list. BUT, if by some strange twist of fate, a topic has the same amount of votes for and against it by the end of two weeks, the topic won't be made classic but it will stay on the list and it's votes will be reset. The next qualifying topic (if there is one) will be made classic.

Well, let's see, with regards to nominated topics, we should just clarify that there the voting system does not have to be so strict. Even if just a few people make votes, the staff can look and see which topic had the most vocal support, and can make the decision in their best judgment.

So, I expect that this coming Tuesday, May 3rd (the first week since the Classics Forum was made), the first topic will be inaugurated as a Classic, no matter what. It would be preferred if we had the votes to confirm it, but it doesn't have to be. Just people speaking about it and letting their thoughts known.

Can we please not have it every 2 weeks. After two years this forum will have 52 topics... that's waaaay too many to be Classic'd. RapBasement has been around since 2001, with hundreds, if not thousands of active members, and there's only 48 Classic'd topics.

After 2 years, having 52 topics, it'll completely defeat the purpose of this forum. That's why I suggested a merely vocal selection, or if a poll MUST be made, don't make it schedule'd.. make it whenever someone feels a topic should be in. Having it on a 2 week schedule makes it an obligation that a topic gets in, whether it's really worth or not.

I know you guys wanna relive past memories, but that's not what the board is for. It's for CLASSIC threads. Trust me, in a year or two, when less-than-worthy topics start entering, you guys will see what I mean.

I HAD suggested a merely vocal system where people voice their opinions, but since that's pretty much gotten struck down, I'll have to improvise.

I suggest we just have a free vote system. Someone's going through old topics and sees one that deserves to be Classic'd... they make a poll in the Classics board about the topic, with a link to it, and people vote for it. Very simple. It just eliminates this bi-weekly nomination bullshit. There's still a vote, so bad topics wont slip through the cracks, but there's no obligation to put a topic every two weeks, in case nobody has a topic in mind that deserves it.

And it's usually reeeeal epic topics like exposures, pranks on normal members, or faked deaths (okay, that was one topic, but still). And sometimes people come back to the topic being like "wow, this was great, somebody should classic it", and sometimes mods just do it because they know a topic deserves it. The Official "Monitor How Much Danny Posts A Day" Thread - A Vet/Mod counted how many posts dude made a day for like a week, as well as how long was the longest he kept from posting. One of the days was like 140+ posts, with a max of like 40 minutes between posting. Essentially they proved dude never left his house the entire week, and spent his entire time on RapBasement/JoeBudden forums.

GL and I were actually talking about this and that's format you mentioned is the one we'll use gilding newer topics. The reason for this whole system is that some of these topics are so old, many of them have been locked, and it's easier for people to go look at them if the link is there.

Eugine, here's the first post of the "Monitor How Much Danny Posts topic.

Today wasn't that bad I guess, the longest he went without a post was an hour and 11 minutes from 9am-midnight so it's still pretty evident he didn't leave his house today. He managed 67 posts total. Not as bad as a couple Fridays ago where the longest he went in between posts was about 25 minutes for 14 straight hours (including that night, which was a Friday night). Figured we might as well use this thread to see how often he posts at the end of each day and if there's any evidence he may have left his house at any point.

Day 2:
Total Posts- 71
Longest Span In Between Posts- 1.5 hours.....actually pretty long, longer than yesterday but he only did this once so I'd say it's still pretty evident that he didn't leave his house today. I judge this based on when he wakes up to make his first post of the day until midnight. Conclusion for today: Danny woke up around 1:30 p.m. (his time) and stayed on the computer all day and night and is still posting consistently almost 15 hours later.

Day 3:
Total Posts- 89
Longest Span In Between Posts 2.5 Hours....That's actually very long, but don't worry he made up for it in a big way. I don't think he left his house, what would he have done in just 2.5 hours? Maybe he went to the gym but he told me he doesn't workout because he doesn't have time so he was probably posting on Budden's forum while he was gone from here. I'll double check later to confirm this. He posted very consistently outside of his 2.5 hour break. 89 posts is a new record. Conclusion for today: Danny woke up around 3:30 (Assuming this is when he woke up cuz he was up passed 4AM the last couple of nights) and posted consistently until taking a 2.5 hour break around 11:00 to do God knows what and then posted again consistently until 4 A.M.

Total Posts- 74
Longest Span In Between Posts- 1.5 Hours.....Shorter than yesterday's longest span but he DID manage to go another hour in between posts at one point. They were pretty far apart though and he posted VERY consistently aside from those random long spans. Perhaps they were to eat? Maybe shower (probly not shower, more likely to beat off) but I'd say once again it's pretty evident he did not leave his house yesterday. Conclusion for the day: Danny woke up around 3p.m. (once again, up till 4AM the night before) and posted consistently for the next 13 hours or so without leaving his house.

Longest Span In Between Posts- An hour and 25 minutes.....Wow.....Got up very early around 1:30 p.m. and had to spans where he went a little over an hour without posting but they were very far apart. That was the only span over an hour. So the question remains, what's worse, hyping up all week that you're going out Friday and then posting ALL NIGHT instead while lowering the actual number of posts....or having 88 total posts in a day? I'd say this is because now that's 6 straight days that we know of that he hasn't left his house.

Longest Span In Between Posts- 49 Minutes......the * is because I couldn't go back far enough to see all his posts from yesterday because he has so many today already. This is ridiculous. He woke up around fucking 12:30 meaning he slept for like 3 hours and then got right back on Rap Basement and posted for the next 15 hours literally without doing SHIT else. He only went over a half hour span without posting in those 15 hours once. This is getting out of control.

@SoT same thing as last week, you can request any old topics be added to the list and use your two votes however you want and on the 11th we'll have a new classic.

@Dipsy, frankly, if you used all that energy that you spent complaining in this topic to just read how this system worked (when we hadn't even tried it, I might add), instead of having a 3 year old tantrum because things weren't your way, you might have seen it's not as retarded as you make it out to be. You're the only one that has that much of a problem with it.

With that said, once things slow down we can have an individual sort of vote for the older topics and how we feel about it. There's no need for this sort of system when there's only four topics to choose from at a time.

Well I put my two votes toward the Rap Battle Topic. I'm not sure if any part of that is against the rules, but oh well.

And I do agree with Skidz, but not that the system is stupid. It's that the fact that many things continue to change that confuses people and coming out from the beginning with a streamlined system would have been better. I guess I have a bit of buyers remorse on this whole "Classics" idea. Regardless, if you can clear up the main title post to make it accessible it would help a lot.

No hating, really, but nothing will ever topic the Monk exposure topic. Wasn't classic'd, because Jason deleted it after like 300 pages, but god damn, exposing one of the admins of RB as not only a heroin addict, but one that lies to members, asks them for money because he's "stuck in the freezing rain, and broke as fuck", and scams them saying he'll send concert ticks and signed merchandise and instead takes their 450$ and shoots it into their arm is easily the best topic of the history in the intranets.
