Hey Guys, not sure whether there is a topic about this already and i searched for like 2 minutes and got bored so here it is. If there is just delete it. Anyway this topic is to discuss anything regarding this years E3 from Microsoft's Kinect to Nintendo's 3DS and maybe Sony's Move if you have to.

I personally can't wait for the 3DS so long as its not just another DS thats 3D, I hope Nintendo try to counter Apple's Ipod touch and Iphone and set the new standard for handheld games.

Though you've got this in the wrong forum. A quick look through the topics in here would tell you that this forum is mainly devoted to news and political discussions. The video game forum would be a much better fit.

Personally, I think E3 just doesn't have as much prevalence in the gaming world as it used to. PAX conventions are more popular than they used to be and now have some presence, and people are just leaking information beforehand or revealing more stuff shortly after E3 anyway that it's become less important.

I've talked about what I'm looking forward to from E3 a few times already. Zelda Wii I'm vaguely interested in, seeing what Pokemon Black & White are all about, inFamous 2 demonstrations, seeing Dead Space 2 might be cool, I'm interested in hearing more about this Pirates of the Caribbean RPG as that could be good (or terrible), and I want see Move and Natal fail more.

edit: Oh yeah, forgot Shogun 2: Total War though it's a given that it'll be good.

Well, the E3 is a current thing, so I can see why it could be posted in the current news forum. But I'm happy wit letting Toasty feel like a smartass for a bit.

As for the E3 itself, just looking for a good reason to get a DS. So, if there are any good RPG's coming up, yay! If not, boo.

Honestly, though I haven't really kept up to date on either technology, I think Natal has a better chance of making a name for itself than Move. Move is (unsurprisingly) a complete rip-off of the Wiimote.

Natal on the other hand goes a different route and gets rid of the controller all together (for better or worse), and it's even capable of tracking finger movements.

[EDIT] Now that I think about it, I guess Natal isn't entirely origional seeing as Sony made the eyetoy. Though the eyetoy isn't nearly as recent as the Wiimote.

My point was not you being a smartass, more that it doesn't matter that much where you make these kinds of topics these days. Just a quick glance at most discussion forums show one or two that could be elsewhere. But this is all kind of irrelevant so let's ignore it.

Apparently microsoft are going to call the natal thing: "Kinect". And yeah, it does look a lot like the eyetoy thing. But hopefully Microsoft will be able to more fun things with it than sony did with the eyetoy. Cause all I seem to remember about the eyetoy is a lame minigame with popping balloons. Though I can't see any games being made with it other than a lot of wierd minigames.

That was just the press conference. Metroid: Other M was already revealed and there have been gameplay impressions before. E3 is more than just the conferences; it's also people trying out the games, which people will get the chance to on the show floor.

I know about that FE, I was simply hoping for a new one for Wii, although I was aware that is an impossibility. And I'm not complaining, I'm just saying that in my opinion, it isn't all as great as everyone seems to think. But that's just my opinion.

Other M and Kid Icarus should be playable ('Project Sora' was actually Kid Icarus for the 3DS? Wow), not sure about Dark Dawn. We'll find out soon enough. And as Diddy said, a new Fire Emblem was announced for DS.

It's certainly better than the E3s of last years imo. We have Zelda, Donkey Kong, Kirby even Golden Sun... hell just about anything Nintendo fans asked for! Maybe your just growing up? :joy:

A new FE on Wii would be nice yeah.. but that'll come another time. Besides Mario, there aren't many other franchises anyway which get a new game on every system every year.

Meh, I'd rather not have the Kirby franchise go in another direction gameplay-wise like they did with Canvas Curse. That game was pretty underwhelming and was never nearly as fun as the classic Kirby games.

I thought Zelda was slightly underwhelming considering the teaser pic (This for people who haven't seen ) and as much as I like the cel style I dont see what was wrong with the gritty style of TP. Plus the demo was a bit of a fail, lol.


Everything else though looked brilliant. Hell, even the Mickey Mouse game looked awesome and so very un-Disney. New Goldeneye looks brilliant ( I like how little the graphics have progressed :B ), Metroid other M is just hhnnnghhh, GSDS GSDS GSDS GSDS GSDS, the new Kirby style looks beautiful and though I'm not a series fan I can still appreciate the art style it's using. DKC looks great though I'm disappointed it's not on DS because I'm sure it could handle it and new Kid Icarus looks...interesting. Wasn't really expecting an on rails shooter/third person shooter but still looks fun.

DKC would be great on the DS too as well. But I have hope, this Wii game will most likely sell good, resulting in them making moar of coarse. :joy:

Haven't seen Kid Icarus yet, but 3rd person shooter? That's cool. Always thought the series should at least stay a little similar to Metroid. Though I haven't seen any new footage of Other M either.

And that teaser pic made me think Zelda would indeed be graphically similar to TP, seeing as the artworks are so similar. I think it'll be a good game in the end though, but the Zelda series are going downhill... quick. I just don't get it... TP was received well, why didn't they continue with that style? Maybe next generation.

I liked the look of the new Zelda, even if I can't get it since I don't own a Wii. The graphics reminded me a bit of Wind Waker. Seemed pretty decent. Also, when they were showing the trailer, I got very excited when I saw Majora's Mask until I realised it was a montage of the older games. For a second I thought an impossible dream of a sequel had been realised.

The game that impressed me least was Goldeneye. I was hoping that Goldeneye's return would be a HD update on all consoles, so a Wii exclusive is a bit... meh. The game doesn't really look amazing by today's standards. Goldeneye was popular because of how innovative it was when it was first realised, but this just doesn't seem to have that.
Also I know they can't get Pierce Brosnan back to do the voice, but having Daniel Craig in it messes it up. Don't get me wrong he's a great Bond, but it simply doesn't fit into the set up. I mean, Sean Connery did the voice of Bond when they realised From Russia With Love a few years ago so why not try for authenticity here as well. It's nitpicking but as a fan of Bond it bothers me.

I didn't watch anything live because I woke up at 10 AM (when the Nintendo conference started, sounds like I didn't miss much) and by the time that I sat at a computer, all that was left were live feeds.

Anyhoo, basically what I'm getting is Zelda sucked, motion control crap sucks, FUCK YEA GOLDEN SUN DARK DAWN, FUCK YEA I actually want a 3DS, didn't expect that, and FUCK YEA DS games I actually want. Nintendo had a good showing.

Nintendo and Sony both had great showing, but from what I read I think Sony's show was a little better - for me at least. The main thing I got out of Nintendo was being sold on the 3DS and GS:DD. Both shows were amazing, kicked the crap out of last year.

Kid Icarus looks amazing! Reminds me a bit of trailers I saw from Sin & Punishment, but... better! They use exactly the same model for Pit and the godess as in Super Smash Bros Brawl as well, and it manages to look good.

DKC, Metroid, Golden Sun, a new DS, Kid Icarus... Damn you Nintendo! Why you want my money so badly!?

EDIT: Guize, apperantly they're making a portable OoT-remake. Kinda makes up for lame new Zelda?

Star Fox too eh. Well, I don't mind remakes. It gives younger generations of gamers a chance to play the classics. I got into gaming pretty late myself, so remakes like these are a good opportunity. Still, it is getting a bit ridiculous. Did Nintendo forget how to make good (new) games by themselves?

I still want a Super Metroid remake. Never got to play that as a kid, and apperantly it was good. Remakes aren't too bad, as long as their good. Portable OoT, especially after not playing it for long with better graphics = good. If it looked and played exactly the same as on N64, it'd be bad.

Blah... I actually find the Wii and DS to be alright. Mario Kart Wii is really fun with 4 players, and New Super Mario Bros Wii is great with 3 (four makes it way too confusing).

I'm disappointed they didn't announce New Super Mario 2 for DS.

LBP2 is huuuge for me, inFamous 2 looks pretty fantastic, Gran Turismo 5 has (another) release date, and Twisted Metal. None of these are as big as the unveiling of the 3DS, and I wish Sony had more to unveiled more things at their show. But there was still more of at Sony's show than Nintendo's for me, which makes the Sony conference a bigger hit in my eyes. Both shows were good and I can respect people enjoying Nintendo's more than Sony's.

I played Other M on the show floor yesterday, the wait was two hours.

The game is cool. I really liked the Prime series so going back to 2D was a change for me. Right off the bat I noticed the controls felt a little clunky because of the D-pad - it would feel a lot better with the Nunchuck or even Classic Controller instead.

I played some "organic" level with trees and bugs. Pace is really fast since Samus sprints everywhere at top speed. Shooting is as simple as pressing the 1 button because the game auto aims to the nearest target. There are some platforming instances to slow down the pace, but it's obvious that this is a much more combat centric game.

Pointing into the screen to go into first person mode actually wasn't awkward at all. You have to hold down the B button when you want to move the camera around so you won't accidentally go out of first person view when you're trying to look around. The only thing weird about it was not being able to walk around, but that's the Metroid Prime in me speaking.

Uploaded a couple pictures for you guys. The 3DS line wraps all the way around Nintendo's area, and then it weaves back and forth through the center. Crazy.

Today I'll be hitting up all the Nintendo games I missed and I'll probably also play Killzone 3 and the Move.

Yeah. But other than that and the terrible voice acting for Samus, it's a really good game that stays mostly true to Super Metroid.

I'll go do that right now. I actually just played Sonic Colors for Wii and it was surprisingly good. The viewpoint switches from 3D to 2D Sonic, and there are more fast paced 2D parts than 3D. I only got to play three levels so I'll remain skeptical on the rest of the game (it's Sonic after all).

I'll be back after I play Kirby and Epic Mickey.

Edit: Okay, so Kirby is interesting. You can't suck up enemies and wear their skin like in the old games, you just whip them with your yarn arm and they fall apart. The game is really easy too. I asked if you can die and apparently you can't - you just lose points. This is definitely aimed at the casual audience.

Epic Mickey had a pretty long line so I just went one over and played some split screen Goldeneye. Good stuff.

I played that on Tuesday. It's basically classic DKC goodness mixed with modern gaming renovations. Every level has a ton of secrets and unlockables to find/collect. There are also some "depth of field" segments where you'll be shot into the background, but the camera doesn't zoom in so you have to platform from a distance.

It's basically Golden Sun with 3D graphics (not 3DS 3D). I'm sure the story will be super cool though, but nothing has been really said for that other than the dark vortexes. Oh, and touch screen contrlols to move around the character are completely optional. They're only required for Djinn stuff.

If I remember correctly, the top screen is there to give you a better view of things, like the Dragon Quest games on DS.
