So yeah. If any of you Canadians wanna chill, I'll be in Vancouver/Richmond until about 12:30 tomorrow. But I'll be heading off to the airport at like, 9ish.
Though I'll be passing through again about a week from now on my way back.
Anyway, I'm planning on eating a lot of sushi and skewered dumplings. And apparently I do a really good job of pronouncing Japanese. =O

No, this is part of a student/culture exchange program that my city has. That thing about living in Japan/China for a couple years fell through as my dad decided to let someone else have the opportunity (or something like that). Though now I believe we have the opportunity to live in India for either a few months or a year or something, though I'm not sure I'd really enjoy that. And my dad said he wouldn't bother with it unless I went because that'd be about half the reason for choosing to live in India for a while (to give me the opportunity to travel abroad some more).
Anyway, my city has a sister city in Japan called Yonezawa, which has incredibly good beef (famous all over Japan, infact). It's about the size of Spokane in Washington state.
The scenery is incredible. We went on a hike up a nearby mountain (and also stayed at a hot springs hotel). Probably the most incredible experience ever. You could see cloud covered mountains for miles, and the wind at the top was probably going at 50MPH.
I've been picking up the language very quickly (watching about 1000 episodes of Anime over the past 4 years has certainly helped), the food is great (except for Octopus), and there's even a pretty cute girl in the Japanese side of the exchange program. Too bad she's like 15, and about 3000 miles away from where I live.
Oh yeah, we're in the rainy season over here. :D
Anyway, I'm still here for a couple more days, but we're about to go to a festival with Fireworks. I get to wear a Yukata. Or whatever those things are called for the males. =O
[EDIT] The festival was pretty sweet. Got to meet a lot more of my exchange student's friends.
Also, though I know this sounds horribly conceited of me to say, I have yet to meet someone here who wasn't impressed or otherwise completely interested in me (and not in the "oh, it's an idiotic foreigner. He's so stupid it's funny!"). Likewise, pretty much every girl I've met has been at least somewhat interested in me. Most have said that I'm pretty cool.
You could argue that it's simply because I'm a foreigner, but the people in general seem to be a bit more interested in me than the other students in my group. Also, my chaperons pointed out that the people at the sushi restaurant we went to earlier this week even remembered who I was when the two of them went back their to eat again today. Which surprised me because I didn't even talk to any of them.
But none of that is really important. I'm having fun and making a lot of friends, and that's all that really matters.
I highly suggest visiting Yonezawa at least once in your lives. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is very nice and thoughtful (and will often go out of their way to help perfect strangers. A random chair lift operator even gave me his hiking stick to keep when I sprained my ankle (again) while we were on the hike through the mountains. There's also a lot of amazing things to see and experience.
Well worth the traveling expenses. Though I suggest you go as a group.

Also, please say you played at least one rape-sim over there.

As for the public interest in you, Toasty, it's because their culture hasn't been taught to hate on gingers. In all those anime eps you've watched, haven't you noticed half the guys are white with red hair? ;D Add in your somewhat considerable muscle mass and you've got it made. :3

Also, no on both accounts Skidz. And an absolute never on the second one.
As for the first, I'm not sure if I'll have a chance to try poutine on my way back home.

So yeah, come say high or something. Though you should probably bring a sign with your screen name so I don't think your some random person trying to steal my money or something.

I should probably have a car so if you wanna PM me I'll give you my number, mayhaps we can work something out.
EDIT: Also, the food court has a few places where you can try Poutine! I would suggest New York fries. lmao

So let me rephrase what I said earlier. Things you can't bring on airplanes in checked baggage is explosives, fresh produce (except in some circumstances), and items considered illegal in the place you're traveling to.
