So the original rumor that "Capcom vs. Namco" would be announced wasn't quite accurate (obviously Street Fighter X Tekken suggests only characters from the Street Fighter and Tekken series will appear in it), but the rumor was correct that there will be two versions: One made by Capcom that'll play more in the style of Street Fighter, and one by Namco (called Tekken X Street Fighter) that'll play more like a Tekken game.
was never really a fan of the tekken series, but i love their characters (yoshimitsu and king 2nd ftw), and will probably play decently well in the SF engine. not really interested in the Tekken focused game, but i'll be grabbing this along with MVC3, whenever that drops.

From a profit-based point as well as a gaming one, it's quite brilliant. Almost guarantees that there will be a version that works for everyone.

And fans of all genres, for some reason, seem to love crossover games. I can't see this not selling well. Plus past few years has seen a major surge in popularity towards the fighting genre.

The story mode in the Soul Calibur series has always been pretty intricate and refreshing.

What I meant was I preferred it when there were individual storylines for the characters rather than the story mode focusing on one guy.
