Ivan is the worst. He's fast but that means nothing because he;s week and dies in a few turns despite my best efforts at keeping everyone healed. I like Mia both as a character in the story and as a playable character. The only thing that annoys me is that i end up using only her healing psynergy because Ivan is being attacked too much :D.
Ivan is a boring and uninspired character. I hate him. And he looks stupid too :P.

i've only got GS2, but from what I can tell, ivan sucks, he's slow, no defence or attack, the only thing about him that is remortly good is his psynergy.

@.@ Then you can't tell much (no offense). Ivan isn't slow, he's the fastest, and if you use him right, can have more defense and attack than most spellcasters, and he's not REMOTELY good, he's one of the best.

I'm still sticking with Mia as one of the worst, followed by Garet.

I tried making ivan as powerful as possible to try and make him a better character. He was still weaker than I wanted, and it wasn't worth weakening Isaac and garet. Mia is very hard to make powerful as well, but I still think Ivan sucks more than Mia. Her psynergy makes up for it :P. Ivans psynergy is pretty weak.

Ivan always dies first. In GS1, battle versus Saturos n' Menardi, he always dies. He got good agility, but crappy defense (he also have a problem [when you see Hamma at Contigo, she tells him : ''Not now Ivan.''], this is very suspicious if you ask me...).

He has never died with me against fusion dragon or saturos and menardi. He died against trent lol. It was because he has all his djinn set already.

Each character has his or her own qualities.
Garet, for example, might be slow and his psynergy may not appeal to most of us, but how can you honestly HATE him? I mean, without him, the game would have been so incredibly boring (at least all the conversations and events, since he has a temper and gets fired up rather easily ^_^ )
Isaac defintely not... I mean, he's the leader and his stats are excellent and well-rounded...
In the end, I'd have to agree with MW and choose Mia, though I think all the characters should be respected...

and besides, it's one of the basic aspects of RPG's. The lead player (that the gameplay focuses on) usually never speaks, or, like here (or Zelda games... as another example) has a "Yes" or a "No" as choices...

Mia is the healer. I would imagine her to look out for all the others by her nature...

I'm gonna have to say Mia, I managed to get Garret faster that Issac and Mia so his speed wasn't a problem, Ivan may have been weak but his support psyenergy coupled with his speed made him cool, Issac was a hard nut, Mia may have been a good healer... but just tweaking the djinni and I could get Garet to have wish well so I did'nt really have need for her. She was in my finishing party for GS2 though.

From a players standpoint, I probably liked Mia the least. She was always the one who was left out when I created different classes and it was always a disadvantage to the rest of the party to make her a class that was beneficial for her.

From a character? I liked them all, but if I have to name one I like the least, it would be Garet. Just a bit, I don't know, pompous for me.

Definately Ivan. Every group needs a leader, a healer, and a brute with a head full of sawdust that you can get to lift heavy stuff for you, but Ivan is just some annoying weird kid that sparkles a lot. Garet has you covered in the powerful psynergy department. And Ivan's not too versatile. He has a lot of support abilities that I never use.

Garet is a noob. I think there's this bit near the end of the game where you have to say yes to one of his questions, and after you answer, he goes on some sort of rant about how you never agree with him on anything.

Garet's my least favorite. He often doesn't even get the chance to attack, since he's so slow, and my Isaac has a better attack stat. The only good thing about him is if in a boss battle everyone dies he usually stays alive, and that's why he always holds the Waters of Life, to revive everyone.

I had to choose Garet. I like Isaac 'cause hes the main character and my favorite 'cause Earth is my favorite element. (i dont know why I've just always seemed to like it). Ivan is very self-consious (like me, but I'm a little less self-consious) but that makes him very wise. Mia has blue hair.
But Garet is annoying and selfish. At the beginning of the game hes trying to save his stuff rather than himself. In Sol Sanctum he doesnt want to go in deeper to help "some old man." At Lama temple he doesnt want to help Hsu, but rather continue on, but when they do help Hsu he tries to take the crdit. But he does have his good moments, like in Jupiter Lighthouse to help Mia.

It was tough, but I chose Ivan. He's got speed on his side but he does tend to die a little too often and his attacks aren't all that good. If you need to summon really fast, he's OK.

Garet was in a close second simply because he's slower than molasses in January.

Mia would be ten times better if she had a move similar to Holy in FF. That way she could heal the party and butt-rape the enemy all at the same time.

Don't hate on Isaac. The pretty boy's got great stats and he can revive.

I always disliked Mia and Piers for the simple fact that they aren't mainly all offensive which is a big downside for me. In the beginning when you got them they were pretty useful and strong but eventually everyone is catching up with them.

Their Psynergy isn't all that strong except for Piers' Diamondberg master but that's all. Only useful for healing, and don't get too strong weapons especially Mia, Piers can at least have a strong axe.

But then again, I haven't played Golden Sun in like... Forever?

The Earth Adepts are clearly the best though. Second in my opinion comes Ivan and Jenna with Jenna being the slightly better character. Healing + Fume series of Psynergy = ****ing awesome!

Bah, Garet isn't useless. Just give him the Running Shirt and speed boosting Boots then he'll be alright. In most cases, he was faster than Mia in my playthroughs... Garet > Mia. Especially with Earth Djinn he's good, seeing as it boost both his attack and speed.

Oh, yeah, she can sometimes Drown somebody in VL. Usually the man with HP lower than normal attack because of faster Ivan and Isaac. Also, only mass healer and she is Mercury Adept... Dies easier than Ivan <Saturos, Fusion Dragon> and can't be used against them because none else can heal whole tem. Don't talk about pitiful Ivan's Wish, I would only laugh of that. He's better vs Mars then Mia even without element advantage. Kikuichimonji/Swift Sword/Destruct Ray/Spark Plasma <if you are patient in training> overhelm weak Glacier/Ice Missile/Crystal Rod/useless Righteus Mace which is imho misunderstanding.

For asthetics, I'd have to say piers. Also, he seems pretty impersonal and difficult. Another one is Jenna 'cause she gets in the way of my mud-shipping fandom :P (IsaacxMia). But she's pretty handy in battle because she can attack and heal.

As for non-playable characters, I'd have to say fehzi. God she drove me insane and also gets in the way of Isaac and Mia's relationship. (And yes, they do have a relationship. How do I know? Because I said so. :D)

Well me personally, I didnt like Garet all that much. I mean, he's kinda good but in my games he was EXTREMELY slow. The monster could have killed us all or we killed the monster before he gets a chance to defeat it.

Isaac is fast, quite powerful, has good moves and such, so he's the best.

Even though Mia is slow, she still is very important part of my team because of her great healing abilities. Try to play without her and then say she's pretty useless, Mia-haters.

While Garet is slow, he has respectable HP to keep him alive for a while and he's the main power house for my team, because Isaac has so many other things to do sometimes.

Ivan's attack is bad, so everytime I want to do some decent damage with him I have to use either PP or djinnis. He can't stand many attacks, so I have to heal him all the time. Yes, Ivan's very fast, but it can't make up for all the other stuff he's bad at. That's why I like him the least.

It seems I've voted for Garet, when I didn't think it enough...

Hmmm... I like all the character's, I really do. Especially the "pretty boy" as Wild Fox put it! ^-^

But, I do have to say Garet. He can be really strong, but he's quite slow (unless I equipp him with something that gives him speed, but I save those for Isaac or Mia. I do need fast healers!) He's also very, if not, over-confident. I don't like it when people get like this, for being over confident can lead to your downfall many times.

Ivan is fast, and unless you continuously give him attack boosting moves, he's not too good except for his agility. Not exactly a boastful character at times...
