I don't have much to say, I've been pretty busy with school. We made some minor progress (although important for moving forward with the project) this week on GSW, so I'm happy about that. I'm not going to go through the effort of putting up the new design, because I think the current design is fine, and the site isn't getting visited as much anymore anyways.

The new version of our forum system is finally coming out on Monday or Tuesday, so I really look forward to upgrading the forums. I'm sorry to say that those new skins probably aren't going to reach the light of day anytime soon, even though I almost had them done. I just don't feel that it is worth my effort to continue making new things when everyone just keeps leaving.

As hinted in that last sentence, it has really become more clear to me just how far this community has fallen. GSAR is currently on its death throe, and probably won't last more than a few more months. The great GSR has even fallen to only updating fanfics and such. GSA is pretty much gone as far as I can tell, which is a shame, as it was the first Golden Sun website. Things here have obviously been pretty slow besides GSW. A good number of our veteran forum members have left or are leaving, so I'm sad to see them all go. I just renewed the GSS domain name, but I doubt I'll have to renew again in another year.

Despite all this grim news, and my obviously pessimistic outlook on the future of the community, GSS will not be shutting down in the forseeable future, and I plan to continue to make news posts. I may be starting some new site features like Web Design tutorials or the likes so that everyone has a reason to continue visiting the site.

I'd like to conclude by making a plea for an experienced (note the emphasis) Flash programmer. If you have experience and would like to help us out on GSW, please send me an email with your name, IM info, and links to any of your prior work. Please do not email me if you do not have any experience, as we do not have time to teach.

UPDATE: Since the new design will not be ready soon, I have updated the Top Affiliates bar. Golden Sun Anonymous has been removed because it is no longer active, and Aerie of the Roc, our new top affiliate, has been added. Please check out Aerie of the Roc if you have not before.

i'm glad your making progress and that GSS isn't going offline but it's a shame to see all most of the GS Sites go (or at least the only ones i know)

Don't worry Max, if GSW is as popular as it was in the server test, this site probably won't die. Although I am sad to see a number of your affiliates go away. It's pretty obvious that Golden Sun is dead now, which is very sad. It seems to me that Golden Sun didn't get as much credit as it should have, if Camelot had actually advertised, I doubt that the community would have fallen as much as it has now.

              Don't worry about that.

And once GSW comes out, the forums will flock more people.

That's very true. GSW v1 will be a huge hit.

                So don't lose heart, Max.

After all, when you think about it, with every 1 regular member we lose, we gain, like, 25 new ones.

I don't think the community is waning; not at all (I guess I sound a bit like Conservato ).

GSS is close to my heart. I will stick with it to the end. I was one of the first to come (3rd day the forum was released, Jan 29, 25th member). I have learned so much about the internet, computers, and different anime shows from this site.

                    Ooookay...

Anyways, I think GSW will revive the community a little, if not a lot.

*sigh* GS will soon wither away... unless some miracle happens. The whole GS community has now been gathering and joining the bigger forums... ie GSR, GSS, GSAR, GSA, AoA, AotR... pretty much those 6 sites are the only ones that have really kept GS alive. I so badly want another GS, but we're all growing impatient, but as tee puts it; "give 'em a year for pete's sake." If only there was SOMETHING we could do about this.
(yes i know that sounded retarded)

In case you haddn't noticed, GSW sucked a few members in, in just the first few days of the server test.

The outlook may not be as grim for GSS as you first thought :P.

I'd just like to say that GSAR is coming back.. many old members are returning, and I think it's a bit premature to say we're on our death throe.

If we had the ability to contact Camelot of Japan, maybe or not, they'd start to work on GS3, for the community. By now, we've beaten the first two games over 20-50 times, and we are beginning to lose interest. We start to get more interested in other games, and that's where the cookie crumbles--in a negative way.

We may never get a GS3, but we'll still think about the time we've enjoyed the game, heart and soul, and maybe--just maybe, Camelot will have the heart to give the community another chance.

It seems so sad that the GS community is dying.

One way to keep the site going would be to merge with a site that covers zelda or something and/or start coving more games, but that would then loose the whole GS theme.

Good luck to Max, this whole forum, the site, and the whole GS community, that's the second time I've said good luck on this forum today. Its quite depressing that we need good luck to keep going.

I'm staying on this forum until the end. :P

We should keep this forum going as long as possible, in my opinion. There is still plenty of things to do, and still a possibility of a GS3. It's funny how maybe older members looked down on newer ones, but the newer ones are keeping the forum alive.

:P Right BLL. Let's try to keep this forums alive, so more members may come, and the older members can greet and support them.

At this rate, if we get two new mods, there won't be much normal members who are active here...

Well, I'll stay around for awhile yet. :P

1.) Don't close the forum. It's far from dead.
2.) The GS community is dying, surptise surprise! It was bound to happen eventually, both games are fairly old now.

I think that this may very well be the last forum to die. B) Or gamefaqs. But think about it this way weve kept a game one of the top 5 GBA games for well over a year and a half. But if camelot does launch a GS3 I think it COULD revive the GS community but GSW will keep us alive forever. Also If we could loccate some of the vets from when The first gs came out perhaps we could revive this board not only here but all of the GS sites. Or possibbly from about 3 to 6 months into GSTLA. If weve only got 1 but highly active site then we shall fall but if we have 10 or more fairly active sites then we will prosper. ( I hope this has actueally helped someone ) But there is still a GS community we are just more widespread. For example my friend X3bionbioz has started a site that has got only 15 members but we all go to the site once a day Also if max approves it ill post the address

That's it in my case (combined with modding responsibilties on a forum I go to)...even on larger forums there is a noticable decrease in posting when school starts.
