I have to start thinking of better news titles, cause I feel like I keep using the same ones. Anyhow, I don't have a whole lot to say today, just some basic housekeeping.

The GSS Design contest is going to end on Friday November 12, so please get your entries in by then. More information can be found here. Starting on Saturday the 13th, all you users will be able to vote for your favorite design, which will become the new site design for GSS. But more on that will come next week.

Also, the forum behavior has been getting out of hand. If the spam outside the spam forum and double posting does not stop then there will be consequences, so please cut it out. The moderators are going to stop giving out verbal warnings and go straight to real warnings, so get your act together please everyone. If spam remains a problem then there are going to have to be some major changes, possibly meaning the closing of the forum, so you all better start shaping up.
It would be unfair to close the forums because of the actions of a few, so if you see someone that is not following the rules, send them PMs and report their posts so that they clean up their act so everyone does not pay the price.

I will obey you, Max. I will report spamming outside the spam forum, I actually find it annoying, too. (I bet everyone exept for the spammers themselves agree with me....lol)

Yes, that is true, the spam is getting out of hand...
        I've seen quadrouple posts...XD
I'd hate it if members were the reason that closed the forums...

Alright Max, that's understanable. There has been a lot of double posting outside the Spam Forums sometimes. And I suppose your right about the Spam Area getting out of hand. I'll follow. n.n

Understood, Max. Continuous spamming out of the designated forum will warrent an immediate warn increase. And thanks to the responsible members who continue to help the moderators by actually reporting spam, rather than commenting about it.

...Kiku, we want to help the "newbs" to better themselves, not scare them away... :(

*sigh* Well, since I've nothing better to suggest, I'll have to go seek out any more spamming really outside the Spam forum. I'm not against nor supporting it, but all I know is that the spam should not be going out of hand.

Well, okay, scratch the "not supporting" part, but you get the idea.

I'll keep on the lookout and do what is needed. You can count on me. :(

                      I'm sure that Max does.

I've been doing my best to report anything that's questionable, but I'll keep a careful eye out. That is, when I actually leave the spam forum. =)

Tycho, of course I read all of the news replies. If I only have time to view the forums for a minute or two this is the first place I look for new posts, because the opinion of the users is most important.

A good place to look is the GS and GSW forums, methinks, that's where the newbies seem to go (especially the ones who don't know the rules).

No, I noticed other members reporting stuff, WD-san.

I agree with the good place to look thing. But some of the new people dont listen and just post away. But I'm not saying whom, because very little do that now a days. Still, some of them dont even know the rules, and they come to the other members for advice, instead of looking at the rules now and then.

That's very true, which is why we have to remember to be kind and gentle to the new users when correcting them, rather than criticize and scare them off.

Well you could create a quiz of the forum rules, and if they get over a certain score they get an icon next to their username.

It would be a fun way of getting people to learn the forum rules.

What you should do (if you even follow that suggestion, which I don't think is a good idea ) is make it so that people cannot post in the spam/general discussion forum (or both) unless they have proven themsleves to be responsible posters .

Remember everyone that you can't just shoot people down if they don't follow the rules. You kindly correct them, answer whatever they asked (even if it is spam), send them on their way and alert the spam to a mod (whom should merge double posts or delete drastically off-topic posts).
The last thing we need is for everyone to shout the newbies down. This is meant to be a forum where new members can come and feel welcome.
You can't expect every new member to be a perfect poster the moment they join. Many of them have probably never used a forum before.
Spam and topic cloning seem to be the most common newbie errors -_-.

Good idea, except the keeping members from the spam forum part, I don't think that's neccesary.

Well you could create a quiz of the forum rules, and if they get over a certain score they get an icon next to their username.

It would be a fun way of getting people to learn the forum rules.

It would be so funny if a moderator failed the test... XD

I definatly think the moderators has given out enough "2nd chances".

I'm sorry for double posting all the time. It's legal on other forums, I just don't want my hard work to go to the trash bin. Please don't close the forums! :P

On a higher note, for the skin contest, can we just give you a header pic? I can't create sigs, but I can make pretty good headers! :D

Well, you should have read the rules, and it clearly states the double posts are not allowed.

About the skin contest, the whole point is making an entire design. A header itself really isn't worth anything.

n.n I'm not going the contest thing, but I agree with you about reading the rules. *coughs* ^-^ Some of the new members look up to the older members, instead of reading the rules. Like I said before. =P
