Well, it came out on Wednesday, November 17. Do you have it yet?

This is one of the most highly anticipated games of this quarter and this is where to talk about it.

I'll get things started. Do you plan on buying this game and if you are, what appeals to you the most about it?

That game is sick. Love the graphics. The monsters look so real to. Samus new suit looks awsome to. Might get my hands on this game after I get bored with Halo.

Halo is certainly overshadowing Prime 2 right now. Do you guys think that Nintendo should have delayed the release date to sell more early copies?

(My, this is quite the revive)

And yes, Nintendo lost quite a few sales in releasing the game in the midst of Halo 2's success. Even the original Prime sold more copies in its first week.

            ----

But all that is long gone. It's been nearly two years now, and this game, simply put, is amazing. The graphics are amazing, the level design is unbelievable, and these are some of the best boss battles (and most memorable; Quadraxis anyone?) of any video games I've ever played.

Haven't even beaten the Queen once yet... >_>

I beat Paper Mario, then I bought Pikmin 2. So, now I have TWO Gamecube games left to beat( at least! Still have master's quest too..).

The Queen? I believe you mean the King.

I found it fairly easy. And as a note, don't feel too comfertable once you've beat it. You still have something to take care of.

I haven't been inspired enough to complete this game yet. I just like the original MP so much more. The environments were so much more wide-open in the original, also MP2 is almost exactly the same game as the last. I was getting annoyed with the game by the end of MP, but now that that's carrying over to MP2, I just can't will myself to play anymore.

                            *Revive!*

I've just finished the game. I love it, it is amazing, I like it even more then the original Metroid Prime. I was dissapointed with the end battle though, but I won't get into details as not to ruin it for SoT(who probably didn't finish it yet).
I've been scanning every single thing I could, since I really wanted 100% of scans, but I've missed a few darn things! I think I don't have one Dark Flyer or something, but most importantly I don't have a Metroid! I've got the Tallon Metroid and Dark Tallon Metroid, but the little line at the bottom of the Offworld Metroid page of the Logbook shoes I've still got one Metroid left to scan. I'll go through the whole world searching for these missing scans now.
I love the difficulty of the game, hard enough for me to die quite a few times, but never frustrating. I think all the people who complained how hard teh game is are idiots who shouldn't even be playing games. I wish all games were as difficult as Echoes.

The thing about Echoes was that it was surprisingly a lot restrictive in its gameplay, even with the whole Light World/Dark World aspect. In the first Prime, you would continually revisit older areas, to find a new item, challenge a different boss, etc. It really gave the feeling of being on a truly open environment.

In Echoes, it's structured almost like an RPG; you go to each world, find three temple keys, challenge the boss there, and then move on to the next area, hardly ever needing to backtrack.

Hm... I never really noticed that, but I guess you're right now that I think about it.
All in all, I think the first Prime was a better game, since the gameplay was new, the story was more interesting(in my opinion), the areas were more diverse and the bosses were better than in Echoes(again, my opinion), but I just had so much more fun playing this game. Also, it took me longer to finish, so in the end I have to say I like Echoes quite a bit more than Prime number one.
I bet Corruption will be the best of the three though. I'm looking forward to it almost as much as I'm looking forward to Twilight Princess. And that's saying a lot.
How many items did you have the first time you finished the game? I had(and still have) 91%, but now that I'm going to search for the remaining scans I'm also gonna try and get all the items.

At times though it did get annoying. When the game asked you to pick up an item somewhere miles away, I'd get pretty angry. I was glad Echoes didn't use that as much.
I never did feel the same way about Echoes as I did for the first title. It didn't grab my interest in the same way.

I agree. I still haven't come back to MP2 because it never grabbed me like MP did. The opening scene introducing Chozo Ruins was just so incredible for me. You never get that feeling of a wide-open environment in MP2.

I hope they bring some of that back for Corruption.

But to be fair, I thought the Light/Dark concept in Echoes was innovative. Getting the Annihalator Beam later on that combined the two was pretty cool, as was the Echoes visor, which rendered everything in black and white "flashes" of sound.

And I found the bosses in Echoes to far surpass those of Prime. The final boss at the end of the Sanctuary Fortress, for example, is perhaps the most epic and magnificent boss battle I've ever experienced, because it's so well-designed, and the sense of beating it is one of an incredible accomplishment.

I was amazed by the Echo Visor when I got it, but it just wasn't important enough. The Dark Visor completely overshadowed it, which is a real shame.
I think the Light/Dark worlds idea is very unoriginal actually, but the Beam thing is quite innovative. Especially how the different beams effect the Light Crystal/Beacons and how the Ing react differently to them.

But as for the bosses, I don't know... Prime has the second best bosses of any game if you ask me(right after Ocarina of Time). I mean, nothing beats the Meta-Ridley and Omega Pirate fights. The battles I always most looked forward to in Echoes were the Dark Samus fights, but all of them were very easy, though I admit some (mini)bosses were really difficult, just as I like them. Boost Guardian anyone?

And the Spider Guardian. Oh, the nightmares...

And I was referring to fighting Quadraxis as the boss for the Sanctuary Fortress. The systematic way of breaking it down, was perhaps one of the most elegant combinations of a lot of your abilities.

I know which boss you were talking about, I just didn't comment on it since I found the battle good, but not spectacular. Though the idea of using the Spider Ball on its head was great.
Can somebody who has a lot of the scans maybe check which Cocoon I'm missing, please? I have the War Wasp Hive and the Splinter Cocoon, but I'm missing one more. I also have the Night Barb and Dark War Wasp, but don't have one more Dark Flyer.

Well, two years after getting my Gamecube with Metroid Prime, I finally beat Metroid Prime last night. The last battle was tough, but winnable (barely).

I'm going to start MP2 fresh now, and continue the series while it's fresh in my mind. Wish me luck!

He's completed the Wind Waker and is now at the end of Metroid Prime. He can't seem to beat the final boss. Oh well, he'll do it soon enough. Next up, Mario Sunshine!

I found Meta Ridley harder to beat than Metroid Prime. Metroid Prime was just endurance but dodging Meta Ridley's stupid tail was damn hard.

He didn't like the game as much as most other people did, but he liked it enough to want to play Echoes. So I'll give that to him when he asks for it.

The one thing I don't like about MP2 so far is it is much less wide open than the original Metroid Prime. The path seems set for you too definitely and there's not much room to get lost.

But I'm not very far in, maybe it will get better?

Well, I don't know if it will get better, since I totally enjoyed and absolutely loved the game from begining to end. What you said didn't bother me, but I guess you're right now that I think about it. Maybe you should switch off the Hint System, then you'll have to go around the world on your own, looking for the next upgrade. That's what I did and it was more interesting like that, though I had to check the Hint System a few times after searching all of Aether.

I tried getting all 100% scans in Echoes... And I missed only two scans. TWO FREAKING SCANS THAT I CAN'T SCAN AGAIN!!! Man, I was pissed off...
Well, at least I got 100% of items. I went looking for the remaining ones when I finished the game. I wanted to fully complete the game, but that is obviously impossible now... *sigh*
