Maybe an online SWF that people can use if they don't want to/can't dwonload the EXE.

Most online games have the option of downloading or playing through an embed/applet.

Why not for GSW? If you don't want to host it, I will.

We spent quite awhile (AveneR and I) debating whether to have GSW as an in-browser game (like you suggested) or as a download. After some experimentation, we saw that it cannot be in-browser because of some of the in-built security in the SWF protocol. GSW does not run off of the same server as GSS, so the SWF would be attempted to contact another server, which the SWF protocol does not like very much.

We found out later that we can in fact have it in-browser, but doing that makes it more bandwidth-intensive, as the file is multiple megabytes, and we didn't want people to have to redownload the game everytime they wanted to play. If GSW were only a few hundred kilobytes I would consider having an in-browser game, but because it is 4-6MB I feel that that is just too large.

The 56kers would not be pleased. Plus, it's much more convenient for it to run as an exe, so it's separate to all the browser windows.

My friend is a mac user, and he likes the look of this, as I'm sure quite a few Golden Sun mac users do, so, when you release a final download version, can you post it as an swf AND an exe so people like him can view it too?

Yes, we recently finalized plans to make a Mac version of GSW, so your friends will not have to worry about that.
