SO..
CONCERT EXPERIENCES. SHARE?
Most..wtf experience in this one:
There was this guy in front of me with his girlfriend. SHE WAS TINY. So, he was trying to push eveyrone away from her. AND THEN HE STARTED MOSHING ALL AROUND US XD I'm like "WTF!!!" And started pushing him. And everyone started blocking him and everything (cause our side of the concert wasn't moshing). I had to evade his head when he was headbanging AND THEN HE TOOK OFF HIS SHIRT. SO, I COULDN'T PUSH HIM BACK ANYMORE CAUSE HE WAS COMPLETELY SWEATY AND SKIN AND ALSKDJF
He had a cool tattoo that covered most of his back though XD
(And then he stepped on my foot and said SORRY for stepping on my foot, which wasn't as bad as the rest of the stuff he was doing XD)
It sucks so much that I missed the Therion one last year D:...And, we also had a Cannibal Corpse one but...that's... I don't think it my type of concert.

Dark Tranquility one: 14+ could go. And, 16 and below had to stay upstairs. (My friends could get in the mosh cause we had a "contact" withing the security guards).
Apocalyptica: Only 16+ and, 16 and below weren't allowed upstairs (where it's safer) x.X

If ever any good bands do come down here, they won't be coming to Perth anyway :S.
I think we just need to move to Europe, haha. I'd like to move to Europe anyway, even if it is only for a short time...

Yeah it's usually Sydney and possibly Melbourne or Brisbane. There just isn't much out at Perth (no offence intended). As for the moving to Europe, I plan to go on a trip sometime after I finish my education and visit places like Sweden, Finland and Norway so I can see all the great bands from that area who wouldn't come down here or when they do it is in some 18+ hotel.

I dunno why we're getting so many bands though. With the DT concert, there were sites that listed us as Puerto Rico and not Costa Rica cause half of the world doesn't know we exist, and the other half thinks we're Puerto Rico XD

My first concert was Juanes (he's a South American artist) and, there's LOTS of groupies behind him XD
98% of the people in the concert were girls. And half of them were shouting "SEXYYY!!!". (My cousin was one of those <<).

Generally, if we want to see a concert we have to go to Montréal or Toronto. My brother went to a NIN and The Mars Volta concerts in Toronto last year, and other bands like Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree go there fairly regularily on their tours (I'm so mad I didn't get to go to the Mars Volta/System Of A Down concert...). Unfourtunately, I have no money with which to buy plane tickets or concert tickets.

The Rules of Moshing
1) Clothing and footwear should be appropriate for the physicality of the mosh pit.
2) Exposed body jewelry (piercings) may get snagged in the pit. Be sure to remove it for your own safety.
3) Inebriation (drunkeness) and dehydration pose real risks.
4) If someone falls over, stop moshing and immediately help the person get up. This is generally "pit etiquette".
5) Remove any spike bands and jackets, joint rings, or similar jewelry before entering the pit as these could result in serious injuries.
6)No groping or sexual assault.
7) Kicking and punching is generally regarded to be a breach of "pit etiquette", shoving or pushing with the forearms or elbows is preferred. This rule has an exception in hardcore pits.
8) Immobilizing people by grabbing their clothing is frowned upon.
9) People at the edge of the pit are assumed to willingly shield those outside the pit and to also keep the people inside from falling onto the ground. However this should not include shoving unwitting moshers as that may cause them to fall or shove back, usually much harder.
10) Do not wear glasses as they will most likely be smashed within five minutes.
11) If you have your glasses with you, a good way to keep them in one piece is to buy a bottle of Gatorade, drink it, and then push your glasses carefully into the bottle. The bottles are very hard and should protect glasses in your pocket. You will have to cut the top off of the bottle later to retreive your glasses.
12) Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The pit is just like anywhere else in that respect, except with considerably more latitude in what is acceptable.
If you are standing at the edge, be aware that someone can hit you. If you want to do quiet activities go away from the mosh!

....:D.... Raped in a concert or any crowded place = Tight fit between lots of people and lots of... body contact. Happens all the time x.x;

They were supported by Anathema. They were ok I guess, I didn't really like them that much. HIM were of course great. Ville is amazing live on stage.
It was really cool when everyone was making the \m/ salute at the same time. We had a bit of a mosh as well.

To be honest though, they weren't that bad, and one of their songs was very good, although they didn't announce the name of it.

I really have no idea why Anathema were supporting HIM, not a good idea at all.
I can guarantee if HIM were the support band for Anathema, the reaction would be even worse. HIM, however, are hugely succesful and would never be the support act for a much lesser known band :o.
I think Anathema are better suited as a support act for katatonia or a similar band.
And it's worth noting that a lot of goth metal bands actually decended from katatonia and Anathema.
Ever heard of Lacrimas Profundere? They, for a long time, copied Anathema's style before Anathema turned completely melo and Lacrimas finally found their own style :D.
It all comes down to musical preference. I don't think HIM are bad (I liked a few of their songs for a while :D. I discovered them after the singer guested on an Apocalyptica song), I just happen to have more respect for Anathema :P.
I'm listening to some HIM right now, I can see why big fans of this would despise Anathema, lol.
and one last note. HIM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Rasmus =D

15/9 - Perth, Capitol (18+)
16/9 - Adelaide, Unibar
17/9 - Sydney, Manning Bar
18/9 - Brisbane, Basement (18+)
19/9 - Melbourne, Hi Fi (18+)
I'm so pissed. 6 days before I turn 18 they have an 18+ gig in Perth :agitated:.

Practically all my relatives except for my immediate family are over there, so the only problem with that idea is the cost of plane tickets. Worth it? maybe not... =\

I've been to a few concerts since the last post, I've seen As I Lay Dying (I only saw them as I knew all their songs, I'm past that phase now though), Psycroptic playing with Alarum (both Aussie bands) as well as Parkway Drive (another ****ty metalcore act from Aussieland).
Though as I turn 18 in 3 days, I'll be going to a LOT more gigs. I've already got Dark Tranquillity on September 19th, then Cannibal Corpse playing with Psycroptic on the 3rd of October. Both gigs are going to be absolutely insane.

Well, actually, I was walking down this boardwalk type thing when I saw a bunch of Spanish guys and girls with not to much on singing in Spanish. I stopped to watch a little mainly because of the dancing. It was pretty interesting. Lots of cool, semi-breakdancing moves.

I wanted to go to the Download Festival a few weeks ago, but I couldn't. Because none of my friends were able to go because they all had AS exams. And there's no way I was going on my own.
I wanted to go to a Dir en grey concert in Germany a few months ago, because I figured that's the closest they'll get to England, because our country does not seem to exist on Japanese maps.
My mum said I could go. But only if I had someone to go with.
All of my friends but one said they couldn't. My friend Sherrye said she'd go, and we actually started organising plane tickets and concert tickets and such, but then HER mum said "You can only go if an adult goes with you".
But no frickin adult we asked would go. So that meant Sherrye couldn't go. Which meant that I couldn't go.
I got very sad. Because I got all exited about seeing my favourite band, then was told no. I actually cried. A LITTLE.
Wasn't made much easier when this person messaged me saying "OMG I GOT TICKETS TO SEE DIR EN GREY I CAN'T BELIEVE IT THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE" kind of thing.
I yelled at them and then blocked them. Still haven't unblocked them. x3

But apparently that's not good enough for The All-American Rejects, who didn't show up in Winnipeg complaining that one of their band members was sick. On the same night as the show, they appeared on a Live @ Much special in Toronto, with all band members present and healthy.
The radio stations here banned their music for the rest of the month, and they deserve it. Lawsuit could be coming soon...

A couple of weeks after Dark Tranquillity I attended Cannibal Corpse. I was fairly intoxicated that night, but that adds to the fun as far as I'm concerned, as it makes it a more fondly remembered night. Great set list as well, though again, there were a few songs which I would have loved them to play that sadly got left out of the set list. Psycroptic were fantastic as usual, but the first band, 'Plague', were ****e.
Bit of a gap there, until I saw Satyricon in early December. They were absolutely amazing, one of the best performances I have ever seen. Huge set (2 hours) and 2 encores (though 'Mother North was a little over dramatized, even though it is one of, if not the best black metal song ever written). Ruins were good as well. It was the first time I've seen them, but with Dave Haley (the best drummer in Australia in my opinion, of Psycroptic and The Amenta fame) behind the kit, it was always going to be something worth watching. I was front row for all of Ruins' set, as well as the first few songs Satyrocn did, before I moved to the back of the pit to get a good spot for watching / headbanging.
A mere 11 days after that I went to saw Deicide (at the same venue as the past 3 gigs). I went by myself though, and I wasn't drinking a whole lot, so it wasn't the greatest as far as enjoyment is concerned, but all 3 bands (Terrorust and Dawn of Azazel were supporting) put on exceptionally good shows. It was another great gig.
Also, in the past couple of weeks I've been to a few more local gigs. I saw my brother's band headline a couple of gigs with 3 other great local bands per gig (Obsidieth who played at both, Be'lakor, Sclera, Guild of Destruction and Ne Obliviscaris). In amongst those 2 I saw Psycroptic headlining with 3 other bands, of which 1 was worth seeing (The Ocularis Infernum, who I have been dying to see a second time).
So yes, it’s been a busy few months for gigs, and I hope to be attending a whole lot more in 2007.

Machine Head
Trivium
DragonForce
Arch Enemy
Shadows Fall
Thinking of going. £25 tickets though..
Also I love the name. Not only is it a combination of MH/Trivium's latest albums (The Blackening/The Crusade), its also an obvious jibe at a well known MCR album as well ;)

Personally I missed out on Bullet for my Valentine this year, I chose to go to Bayside and Funeral for a Friend, turned up at the door to find out it was cancelled, Matt (lead singer of FFAF) was in hospital for his voice, gay.
I went to My Chemical Romance last Saturday night, I really enjoyed it, they put on a good show, only problem was the demographic there, to many little teenage girls, I didn't realise they changed that much.

Saw:
Taking Back Sunday
Alexisonfire
Paramore
Placebo - Only a few songs
AFI
All Time Low and Anti-Flag while dinner was on, don't like Anti-Flag but ATL are pretty good.
Jimmy Eat World - replaced MCR, only saw half as I went over to Escape The Fate
Escape The Fate
HIM
In that order.
Was most excited to see AOF, HIM and Paramore. Fantastic day, always a great festival but it's put me in a massive HIM phase since, all I listened to at work today and over the weekend, and also a Paramore mood after seeing them live, Hayley is so hot.
Soundwave 09 was the last concert/festival I was at and it made me realise how much I missed it, probably will go to The Used later this month.

And that line up is STILL better than Reading fest's last year.

Wish I were American for their festivals though...
