Well, unless you've been living in a cave for the past six months, you know that Nintendo has announced there will be a Super Smash Bros. for the Wii.

Awesome!

What would you like to see and who else is psyched to play some online smash bros! Also, how do you think they can incorporate the new controller into gameplay?

That way, they'll bring everyone's hopes back up that they reappeared somewhere other than their own game.

As for the controller, I do not care if you have to play it with your pants off; if I want to play with with a remote control, then I will play it with a remote control, and I will master the use of it.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Isaac is going to be in there and I heard some rumors that both Isaac AND Felix will be included. Also, there was a pole in Nintendo Power asking who everyone would like to see in Smash Bros. Rev. and the highest voted characters were Wario and Toad. Now, I actually think they should have put Wario in the first Smash Bros. so this is great! But TOAD!!!!! WHY TOAD!?!? HE'S CRAP, HOW THE HELL CAN HE FIGHT AND WHAT IDIOT WOULD WANT TO SEE TOAD!?!?! Sorry if I insulted anyone... :agitated:
Diddy Kong also got a lot of votes and I think Diddy is awesome, so I'm glad about him too. Oh yeah, and Sonic and Tails got a lot of votes too, but I really hope they don't add them...

Yeah ... Toad isn't really ideal smash material. I mean, what can he do? He's just one of those supporting characters.

But if you think back to Super Mario Bros. 2 (I think), they made Toad a playable character. Though, was there anything different about him than the other three?

For SSBR they atleast gonna:
-Add Wario and Diddy
-Do NOT add Sonic and Tails
-An diffrent adventure mode for each character

I think SSB should always be a Nintendo only fighting game. Sonic and any other Sega character should not be involved in the series.

The series needs Toad! Mario Kart has Toad, and everyone knows he's the best in all the mario kart games since MK64. He was in SMB2 as a main character! Toad would be somewhat like a Super Mario Pichu in SSBR, he'd be small, lightweight, but fast. Lots of small punches and strong headbutts(look at that head! Perfect for headbutting), and with his great strength from SMB2, he'd be able to pick other characters up, and unless they were actually heavy weight characters, run with them while holding them. I think it could work, and SSB is long overdue for the awesomeness that is Toad.

Oh, and Isaac and Felix have a 0% chance of being in SSB, EVER. They are not real Nintendo made characters, just have games liscenced and or produced by Nintendo, just like Rare on the N64, or Factor 5. They're Second Party companies, they're third parties bound to Nintendo by a nonpermanent contract.

Second of all, Rare owns the rights to Donkey Kong, and he's been in both SSB games. Then you've got Hal Labratory, who owns Kirby.

Camelot also fills those shoes, for the Mario Golf games, anyway. So, anymore complaints now? Because I'm sure that I have a pretty solid point. =/

Oh yeah, and if it were a nonpermanent contract for Hal Labratories, then it wouldn't be Hal Labratories now, wouldn't it?

Rare DOESN'T owns Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong was created by Nintendo. Even Diddy and Dixie Kong are not Rare's. I think so about Cranky Kong to. But all other Kongs are Rare's. And Kirby is Hal Labratory yeah, but SSB was created by Hal so they can inclube Kirby.

As long as it keeps what makes SSB fun, the gameplay, it will do fine. More game modes and such are an added bonus, hopefully they have lots of those.

At the end of TLA it says that all characters and music are copyrighted by Nintendo, while all the other stuff(scenario and so on) is cprtd by both Nintendo and Camelot. So I think that at least Isaac will make an appearance. And if they put the Ice Climbers in there, who had only one game ever about 15 years ago, than why couldn't a GS character be included?
Also, I'm affraid Toad is more than likely to be playable. Before Meele was released Nintendo had a simmilar pole, and the two highest ranking characters were Bowser and Peach. And as you all know they are both in Meele...
I actually think I read on the net when Rare was sold to Microsoft that Nintendo got the right for ALL Kongs and all the other DK characters. But still, I guess you would know better about them DiddyKong...

Transforming link. B to change into Deku Link(Majora's Mask), B+up to change into Zora Link(Majora's Mask), B+down to change into Goron Link(Majora's mask), and B+side to change into Wolf Link(Twilight Princess). If you're in a form, and you use that command(say, in Deku Link, and press B) you return to normal Link. Each one is just a bunch of A attacks, but they have different speeds, weights, range and stuff.

That's an awesome idea, you take away Link's B moves, but you give him different A moves. Hopefully, that could be one of the characters.

You know I don't want Diddy like that in SSBR. Another clone character. Diddy has alots of own moves. He shouldnt be a DK clone.

Oh btw Blink. Toad wasn't the strongest char in SMB2. Because he's so small he can pick up vegetables easier and doesn't lose speed. Well I don't think that says Toad is strong. He should alteast be weaker than Mario.

Yeah, MetaKnight would be cool. And I think they should put Black Shadow or Deathborn, not Samurai Goroh. Olimar should be there too.
Also, if they add Diddy I'm quite sure he will be a clone of DK. It's a shame though, because I HATE why every single fighting game has like a million clones!
The Transforming Link would be awesome, but there's no way for that to happen.

Yeah MetaKnight would be very good. But King DeDeDe is another choice for a Kirby bad guy. Other bad guys they could add are Phantom Ganon or Vaati (like a Mewtwo clone or someting XD) King K. Rool, Bowser Jr. (although Im not sure if he's a real bad guy but whatever...) and Petey Piranha.

Forgot about those guys. King Dedede and Meta Knight are absolute musts. Diddy would have his own moves: B-up is jetpack, B-down is a spin thing with the tail, B-side is a kartwheel, and B is shooting his guns.

Ganon is another character I want to see, and I mean OoT Ganon(not ganondorf, but I want him too). Ganon would be like a badass Bowser, bigger, heavier, and with swords. B-up for something like Fox's B-up, but more powerful and shorter, B-down for smashing the ground like DK, B-side like Bowser's with the slashing, but farther range with the swords, and B for a quick dash charge slam thing, kinda like Ganondorf's B-side, but this one would be walking, and he'd still stumble afterwards if he missed.

I do want to see Goroh instead of Deathborn or Blackshadow though, because Goroh was in F-zero since the first game.

Gannon would be too big, not too mention over powered. Link cannnot defeat Gannon with brute force as it is for the most part. He usually has to use the enviroment around him to win...Im expecting alot more pokemon unfortunately, stopping now would be great...already have 4 of them. Im expecting them to go all out on this, meaning EVERYONE one mariokart games will be playable, etc. Viewtiful Joe would have been PERFECT, but sadly Nintendo didnt hold onto that and allowed Capcom to share the majority of power of that franchise. B) Marth and Roy were too cheap with the C-Stick in SSBM, quick, powerful knockback, and high damage left many of the other contenders pretty much defensless against them in terms of an equally skilled matchup of contenders.

I think Ganondorf should be able to use his sword as an attack, and not be a Captain Falcon clone. He has a sword, why doesn't he use it.

I think Ganon would be a bit bigger than Bowser, and if he was in the game, I don't think he'd be indestructable like that.

And yes, no more pokemon, and give ganondorf his sword, or his OoT powers(which would be similar to Dark Samus's moves).

And it is sad to see that since Viewtiful Joe is now totally Capcom's instead of Nintendo's, he has to be in Red hot rumble, a messed up and impossible to follow game similar to Melee. gaaaah.

Yeah Ganon would be good yeah but like Phantom said... Too overpowered. He could be someting like Master Hand or Giga Bowser is in SSBM. I dunno about Ganondorf. I think he will use the moves which he haves in Twilight Princess since that game will be released earlier. No more Pokemon is good for me but... The new DS games will change that. I think atleast 2 Pokemon from the new PKMN DS game will be in the new SSB.

Pokemon will be on SSBR, even if they are still Pikachu and Jigglypuff. Pokemon is a mainstay of Nintendo and if they overlook it for SSBR, it would be like the XBox 360 looking over Halo 3.

Well I read the controller can be held sideways so it'd be like a normal game controller. But no more pokemon, I'd rather have more pokemon with pokeballs instead, but I do hope at least a gs character makes it on there. A attacks can be with the sword and b attacks can be with Psynergy, like ness. Also Metaknight would be a awsome character, much like kirby but more kick@$$. They do need more kirby characters along with more metroid.

No not more Metroid characters. Samus is ment to be the single hunter and stuf. More Kirby characters will surely come I think, Hall is the producer of Kirby it is kinda stupid if they don't want to add their own characters. Also I think the whole crew of SSBM (except for Dr. Mario... they should just make Mario somewhat stronger) will return but some need a serious remake (like Ganondorf and Mewtwo). Another character I would like to see is Ephraim from Fire Emblem the Sacred Stones.

Dark Samus, obviously, is a must. I can imagine seeing the SA-X in there as well though, not the normal form, but the mutated one, or at the very least, give Samus the fusion suit as a costume change. Kraid is out, too big, and Ridley I think won't make it in either. I wish there was something inbetween, but I don't know of any. What I WOULDN'T be surprised by though, would be if they threw in a Zeta Metroid as a playable character.

Only one condition. I want what Live has, a friends list that links between games, but can still be specific to certain games. So basically, make the console have the online system, not the games. Make the games able to access what the console has, the friends list and whatnot. You know how the settings for the MAC Adress and your choice wifi networks are all actually stored on the DS itself(so you don't have to change it for each game)? Well I want it like that, but I want that part to also store the friends list. ANND, I want a way to go between settings(like in the DS) but not have to restart after each seperate part(like GBA/DS/Settings/Pictochat).

I'm thinking that the WiFi on the Revolution will be as close as possible to the DS, to avoid confusion, but they might add a few features.

Basically, find a Wireless internet point, go into the WFC settings screen on Mario Kart DS, search for an access point, tap into it, put in a password if needed, and you should be good to go. More deeply configured networks are a bit harder(say, whitelisting and whatnot).

How does Sony's online work? I know how Microsoft and Nintendo run theirs but I could never see how Sony does it. Does anyone know?

As for SSBR, if the same interface on the online is used as the DS, it will work fine.

...Weeeell, what does it say when you try to get on your wireless network?(and I think you need broadband for a wireless router anyhow, so you should be good to go there) If it comes up with something asking for a code, put in whatever the code is for all wifi devices in your house. Basically, ask whoever set up the wifi in your house for help, they'll know exactly what to do.

The WEP key is just the requiring code that some hotspots require you to enter. From what I've heard if you're at a Starbucks or something, then all you have to do is ask the shop owner with a purchase for the WEP key and you'll get.

And will someone tell us how the Sony online works?!?

Could be possible but then I don't think it will be something human. I think it would be something creating a Koopa, Goomba, Kremling, Pokemon or whatever. They could make some Custom mode anyway but that yhey can't fight against real characters.

Can make them look however you want them to, then give them a custom move list from a list of moves that is suitible for your character. I think weapon moves would be set for that character model.

Yeah, if not custom characters, then show at least some trademark of the user. People are gonna want to refer to players online by either appearance, given the limits of a 4-digit name. If they do keep it, that is. Think of it this way, would it be easier to refer to a cool player as a black-coloured Marth, or a black coloured Marth with an orange afro? I think customizing the character with limits is a pretty good idea.

Barrel trap, like the item. It'll start spinning, trapping the enemy until you hit "A" and it explodes the opponent in the desired direction

Yeah more weight atleast, and power to. He's probarly the worst character to controll in SSBM, still I can play him pretty well. Mewtwo's biggest weakness is his size-to-weight, he's very big and his weight is horrible. But his comeback is pretty damn good.

Heh, I suppose so... the design with the "nun-chuck" is designed especially for first person shooters, making Metroid Prime 3 a highly anticipated title for Revolution.

But on another note, the controller shell is similar to the Wavebird controller, yes, but I don't think you should put off the controller that quickly. All the run-throughs with it back at the Tokyo Game Show in 2005 was positive, although there were no Revolution games actually demoed (the closest was Metroid Prime 2: Echoes for the GameCube)...

Advanced manuvers may be much more difficult to do if you only use the wand. If you can still air dodge (which I expect will still be possible), then you can still wavedash, and I'm really hoping that I don't have to flick my wrist to do it, or else I'll get Carpul Tunnel Syndrome by age 20.

The shell is the way to go, in this case.

Or, they can have two sets of controls - one with just the wand, and one the shell.

Well no, you don't need one hand. The controll stick is on a separate thingie... You hold a remote with the A and B buttons and so and you have the controll stick on something diffrent which looks a bit like a part of the GameCube controller but only with the controll stick. Really I wished they had it all on 1 remote since I kinda like the idea of holding a remote with two hands and the controll stick down... Yeah I suck at explaining things but I hope it becomes a little more clear what I mean.

Well, i haven't thought of it that way. I love Metroid any ways ^^;. But with an SSBM game it seems kinda hard. What with the flips and the air attacks and crazy combos. Sounds hard with a -cough- remote.

I'll take you up on that, SOT, because I can prove that I'm smart enough to know, and still think that this idea will work(mainly because the DS is doing so damn well).

1. Gameboy Advance, backlit screen. If this wasn't a pain in the arse, I don't know what is. They advertised like it existed...but it didn't, therefore it FAILED at that concept, and caused anger among many of us. Oh, and Kirby's Tilt and Tumble doesn't work on a single backlit handheld, to this day. That's right, no GBASP, no DS, no Micro, and you can't see it because you're moving the screen on the GBC and GBA.

2. E-reader, such potential, such costly limitations. Nintendo was stretching things with making you have to own a GBA and Cube to get the GBA cable, but that was okay, because the games were good for it, and they weren't clumsy or bulky or even expensive or anything. The E-reader on the other hand, was big, clunky, only worked on one version of the gameboy advance(the version that sucked), and only worked if you had bought the cards, which weren't carried in many stores, since not many people bought the E-reader.

3. Cartridge based N64 games. They had limited memory, were expensive, and were clunkier than the PS1's fancy CDs. Nintendo lost a lot of 3rd party consumers to Sony, but it wasn't all because of the licensing fees, it was partially because of this as well. Nintendo fixed the licensing fees thing eventually, but, they never fixed the N64's cartridge problem. Luckily, they made up for it by giving the Cube the faster loading disks in the west.

Yeah, Nintendo hasn't exactly been perfect, but I believe they can learn from mistakes. I think this controller can do Smash Bros, but I bet theres going to be some big changes.

Here is a little story for your reading pleasure: In May 2005 the Smash Bros. Revolution team was made of one and only one man, the director of the first two SSB's. Soon enough though, the new Tokyo game branch of Nintedo(I think they made DK Jungle Beat) was assigned to this important project. But there's also the crew from a mistery third party company making the game alongside Nintendoes staff, whose workers had played Melee a LOT. Nobody knows the name of this company yet. This is a totaly true story, even though it may sound as a legend, or yet, a myth. :blink:
Now, since it's not HAL making the game anymore, I expect the franchise to have some big changes in the newest installment.

Yeah, playing as Diddy will be awesome... I say WILL because I am 100% sure he will be added. He was one of the highest voted characters Nintendo fans wanted to see in the game, after all! Also, he's one of the most popular Ninty characters around.
I would throw out the Ice Climbers(they don't deserve to be in the game) and put Olimar and Louie from Pikmin in their place. They could have simmilar attacks, instead of the Ice Climber's Blizzard move, they can squirt one of the two sprays they use in Pikmin 2. Instead of Ice Shot, they could make a Pikmin charge at their enemy's...
I really hope they don't put Baby Mario & Luigi. They are crap(sorry to say that as I love their adult versions)!
I also hope the game doesn't have 80 or even close to 80 fighters out of two reasons:
1. There will be around 30-40 clones
2. Half of the fighters will be characters that don't deserve to be in there(just like the Ice Climbers, Falco, Dr. Mario, Pichu and even Jigglypuff) and about half of them will be characters gamers don't give a sh*t about!

Nah Klubba never appeared in a game later on. A big change that Petey Piranha will be in. And Aqua I think Falco and Jiggly do deserve to be in SSBM, Jiggy is pretty populair in Japan and Falco is the other main Star Fox guy. Jigglypuff is STOOPID. I mean, he/she doesn't even have a third jump, and I've died Plenty of times by pressing Up + B to attack when it turns out he/she sleeps instead.

I use DK as my main and Mewtwo as my second. DK is just an awesome air juggler with lot's of cool combo's, Mewtwo in the other hand is a very technical character which has to dogde and grab alot.

And btw Omair, Link and Young Link can't use the hookshot when they did their 3th jump already, also I don't think it's very useful, mayny only when your getting Meteor smashed.

I think some characters need a makeover. Like:


Mario: Jumps a lower then expected, needs better recovery, needs more power, less weight. Also I hope the v+B move will be a little bit better, like Luigi's is now it good.

Luigi: Needs a little less power and more speed. Not much more to add, Luigi is just a great character. Maybe some less floaty but yeah, that's just the way Luigi is and I don't bother.

Donkey Kong: I think he needs some more power and less weight. Since I think alot of heavy characters are being added, I would like to see DK as a medium-heavy weight instead of 2nd heaviest. And also more power to make him still worth to play with. Also a little better vertical recovery and replace his slapping moves for punches.

Yoshi: Needs a 3th jump, less weight and more speed. Egg throw a little more powerfull and Yoshi Bomb a little less laggy.

Ganondorf: Needs a own moveset. Since Nintendo could screw up Ganon as a dark magic use like being a Mewtwo clone or something, I would like a Ganon with 2 swords like TWW. Also a little more weight and power just as DK, being still worth to play with.

Samus: More missles and beam moves. Really she fights too much physical. <_< She needs more weapon moves I think because that just suits her more but meh, she may stay like this for me.

Two things:

First off, remember that the characters need to be balanced. So of course, every character will have some strong aspects and weaker aspects, but again, it's all for balance. Imagine if Yoshi had his third jump, how much ground he could cover and how easily he could recover. Or if Donkey Kong were lighter, he would be able to devasate opponents with greater agility and powerful movesets. These aren't the best examples, but again, the idea is to demonstrate that if all the flaws in a character were addresed, it would create potentially unfair advantages and support for one over the other.

No 8 players are too chaotic. Imagine 8 players in a stage like Poke Floats? And it will cause great lag I think. So I think they'll stick with 4.

I don't think 8 player would create a lot of lag on the Rev, but I wouldn't like to see that. Just as Diddy said, it would be too chaotic. Maybe 5 or 6(though 4 is probably the best) but not more than that.
Also, if they were to add a Metroid character, I think it should be Ridley. He is the second most famous Metroid char. and has appeared in almost every game to date. They would make him smaller, of course, about as big as Bowser. He could have limited flying and good recovery abilities, similar to Peach and have pretty powerful attacks, but would be on the slow side.

8 Characters does seem much. If you remember those fights against the wireframe characters, I always thought that was so annoying. Then again, maybe Nintendo could find a way to make it work.
If theres one character I wouldn't want Nintendo to add, it would be Birdo. Dear god, just why had they have to put her in any game besides Super Mario Bros. 2?

Only if there is a specific level (or levels) where it is large enough to handle 8 people. Then the screen might be stretched to thin, though.

8 people really raises more problems than it solves.

Or they could have a specific amount of points labled for each move and a non changeable amount of points available for moves. That way no character could be so insanely powerful that they couldn't be defeated by anyone.

C-sticking is just a way to preform a Smash quickly without charging. This isn't any kind of cheat or something like Snaking but it's just pressing another button geez...

To Toasty64: The poll IS over. I would have voted too if I knew it existed, but I wouldn't vote for Isaac or Felix(even though I would love seeing them too). I would vote for Wario and Diddy, the two characters that most deserve to be in SSBR. Also, I don't know the exact URL, but I found it on Wikipedia. Just type in Smash Bros. Revolution on the website and I think you'll find it.

I sometimes use the C-stick for smash attacks. It's easier, but cannot be charged up, thus making it weaker.

Why do you think that a GS character wouldn't be good for an SSB game, DiddyKong? There are many other characters that actually never fight in their games: Ice Climbers, Mr.Game & Watch, Dr. Mario, Captain Falcon, Fox, Falco and Peach. I think Isaac would be perfect for SSBR. A moves are normal slashing moves with his sword and B moves are Psynergy.

Now then, about the C-Stick, I honestly don't think it's bad to use. I myself rely on the typical smash attacks using the A button, but the C-Stick is sometimes more fluid and necessary when you need to strike an opponent quickly and with good strength.

Also, to go back to before, the Revolution controller had special light ports that indicated which controller it was. This was still a prototype model, so somethings may change, but in the controller shown at the Tokyo Game Show in 2005, there were only four possible controller ports. Therefore, SSBR (Revolution) will probably have four player melee battles.
