My school would never do something that cool. I would pwnd everyone else at that game, and finished first. :(

If you do then you should play one of the earlier ones first. The series gets more complicated as it goes along so you might want to start when it's easier. That's what I did anyway.

On Snes? I thought it was PC only. Are you sure you're not thinking of something else?
Maybe you're thinking of Simcity. That was on Snes.

I wasn't that good at it when I was younger.

- Reviving an old topic
- Double posting
I'd agree with Wind Dude. It's easy enough to get into and I might even say that it's more fun than II. I'm glad they've announced a fifth one now, and I may get the expansion packs to keep myself going.

THEY ANNOUNCED A 5TH ONE?!
I've been waiting to hear that since I started playing 4. It better be more addictive than 4...and cocaine. :(

Civilization IV: Beyond The Sword
Which should be out by the end of this month.

Yeah, I would imagine quite a few people here play Civ 4, would be interesting if we tried to get a game going or something, or not.
But yeah Civ 5, opinions on the changes?

Stacking units on a tile removed: good
Units retreat after "dying," needs time and resources to be reinforced: good
Religion removed: We'll see... could be a good thing in the end
Am I missing anything?

Game Informer article says:
-Addition of "minor nations," whatever that means
-Gold can buy additional tiles to be used for settlements
-Gold is "a major component of the expanded diplomatic options - particularly with minor city-states" which could mean anything.
A screenshot shows an artillery unit targeting some enemy infantry. A box is displayed on the bottom of the screen showing some stats, such as the fact that the artillery has a 45% Flanking bonus and the infantry has a Terrain Modifier of 25%. The box displays a rating of the outcome of the battle, rating this one as a Major Victory should the player decide to engage. Maybe this means the annoyingly random outcomes of the battles of Civ IV are gone?

Plus, they're giving extensive support to the modding community, allowing you to browse mods in-game which is amazing. I haven't even dabbled with mods for IV, but I might do so in V.

System requirements are bit steeper than I imagined they'd be for the kind of game this is.
On the bright side, there's a demo out next month before the game is released so you can test your system out then.

I was nervous when I saw that, but at least my laptop can handle it. I can't wait for the demo, although I really should be focusing on college apps in September. :|

I hate how all the good games come out at the beginning of school.
