    Someone's got a 360 Macromedia flash Hack

If anyone has a 360, I'd suggest seeing if you can play it on a 360 or something.

Can they take a server test version and play it on the 360 or do you have to wait for BETA or the actual GSW to come out?

I think you just need an SWF version of GSW to do it, so long as it's online stuff can get around the 360's limits.

If I had an XBOX 360 I might be tempted to try that out, but since I don't I just can't see that happening. We don't distribute the normal SWF version of GSW so that it is much much harder for people to hack it, and I wouldn't be willing to risk something bad happening just so people might be able to play on the 360.

I dunno, it just doesn't fit. PSP, maybe, but DS is a different story. DS may have some wireless capability to it, but it doesn't have a browser option as far as I know.

Actually, it was just announced that the DS will soon support the Opera browser (as well as a TV tuner, but that's a different story). So maybe someday in the future I'll make a DS or PSP version.

That is a great idea, but we should probably get a good beta version of the computer one first.

Well, since GSW's revolving around Chat, it'll be a bit hard for people on Xbox to chat properly with people on PC. Unless you add a voice chat or something, the Xbox users can't keep up with a virtual keyboard with a max speed of 20wpm as opposed to the lightning-fast typing of the other guys.

The PSP is getting a keyboard, eventually. So we might be able to do it that way. Hell, you can probably plug a keyboard into it now, I'm just too lazy to try it. :)

The PSP isn't Flash-compatible yet anyway. Maybe in the future.

The DS' touch screen serves as a... decent keyboard so GSW appearing on the DS is much more likely. Also, I've heard people say that the Opera browser for the DS will have limited Flash support, but I've also heard that it won't. :) So I don't know.

As for the Xbox 360, after a little searching I discovered that you can plug a keyboard into it, along with other things, probably...

Wow, I didn't know that. That's two things I've learned about the 360 in the last few days. It's full of surprises!

Would lag time be eliminated by using the 360?

It should, it being a high-definition everything.

That's my theory out the window, anywho.

Lag time is the result of the latency (time delay) of your internet connection, not the device it is being run on. So now, the lag wouldn't disappear if you used a console instead of a PC.

High-definition isn't about internet connections. The Xbox 360's high-definition capabilities means that it can play games in high-definition on high-definition televisions. (HDTVs)

When HD games are played on HDTVs, they have sharper images, twice as many scan lines per frame, and play on a wider screen. I don't think GSW would benefit from this, though.

Then why is it that when I play online games on my computer which we bought in 1999, with a high-speed internet connection there is more lag than when I play on a newer computer with dialup?

Well, if you've got a really old graphics card that can't handle the game's graphics that you're playing, this can result in lag (and low frame rates, which would seem like lag).

You mean for Visual Boy Advance, the GBA emulator? That would be pretty hard, as I would have to turn it into a valid GBA cartridge file, which would be impossible since I'm using Flash and not C++. Plus, VBA doesn't support online connections anyways, so you wouldn't be able to login regardless.

I use Java for alot of my programming work, but when it comes to graphical applications, it is ALOT easier to use Flash than it is to program it all out in Java.

Flash/Actionscript gives me almost unlimited flexibility in the graphics and interaction departments, which cannot be said with Java unless you spend extensive amounts of time creating a game engine.

In Flash I can worry about functionality and not all the boring, unintuitive graphics work that Java would need just to display the stuff on screen.

EDIT: Just remembered: even if I were to use Java, I wouldn't be able to make it into a GBA ROM because the compiler for GBA is for C only.

And I don't think that GSW should be swaying near stuff like Roms for slightly obvious reason.
