I also payed for guardianship, then X-guardianship. I'm thrifty though, I payed $12 for guardianship and $5 for Master-X upgrade. Normally it's $15 and $10. But don't think that X-guardianship is a gouge. There is no X-guardian special content. You just get more XP, gold and potions.
I'm a cheap bum like me111. (the last time I spent money on someting, I jumped in the well to get my nickel back.) And AQ is the only game I've ever spent money on. AQ isn't a business. You make a guardian donation not a payment. The game designers don't make money from this, so they're not out to get you. If you liked the game, guardianship is worth it a hundred times over. (Disclaimer: that is an expression, not a mathematically correct statement, I would not pay $120 dollars for QA guardianship. Which just happens to be the cost of 2 years of Runescape membership. Profiteering basterds.)
