I'm well aware that there is an official topic, but official topics suck and we wouldn't discuss this too long anyway if I posted it there.

    Okay, what's the word on:

    1) Voice acting
    2) Actual cutscenes

In other words, will there really be REAL CUTSCENES and voice acting in TP?

We might here something about it at the Tokyo game show, but for now, we can at least hope.

That would make my day. It would feel strange having Link actually talk but hey they atleast give him more personality. I still hope he's more of the quiet type because it would be really strange if he'd be a really loud.

The whole philosophy to Link is that he adopts the personality and style of the player. His personality is supposed to be of the one who controls him, so that the player get get into the game and relate to him. It's the players decisions to make in the game, not Link's. Heck, Shigeru named him "Link" because he was a "link" between the game and the player. The only English word Link has ever spoken is "Come on!", come to think of it.

I don't see voice actors in the picture, but I do see cutscenes that involve a stronger kind of action and depth than Wind Waker, which was done fantastically.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Nicely done, Mars Djinni.

I will add that having the cutscenes take place in the real-time game engine allows for a smoother, more realistic experience. Consider the cutscenes in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance: absolutely stunning cell-shaded CG graphics, but they seemed somewhat out of place when compared against the rest of the game's presentation.

To be honest, voice acting can easily make a game a lot worse. It can make a game a lot better (Final Fantasy) or a lot worse (Too many to mention, though games like Sonic Heros spring to mind). Then again I would like to hear Ganonndorf speaking.

As long as it's not the main character, voice acting could work in TP, at least as long as they get the right sound for each character.

Do you mean only the other characters having voices, and not Link?

That makes it a little too imbalanced. Might as well take out Voice Actors altogether.

That was what I thought. Either give all of them voices or none at all.

They've done that before ( ex. Mario Sunshine ), and it worked out. They also did have all the characters but mario talking in The Thousand Year Door, they just didn't have voices.

I see what you mean, but I still think it's not a good idea. I always think the main character should be able to talk for him/herself. If there weren't voices it could work out better though.

If the whole game had been in that cut-scene presentation, it would have been a much better game. I was so sick of reading by the end, even though I'm mostly tolerable when it comes to text. Then it wouldn't have seemed out of place.

There was a lot of talk when TP was first announced (that was so long ago ) about "OMG VOICE ACTING" and stuff. I just want to know if there's been any word on it now.

What if you chose what Link says, and then Link's voice actor actually says it?

I REALLY hope that you have more leeway as to what you can say this time around. We were only ever given two options, and generally, both options led to the same result anway.

My God, guys.... If you had said LOZ in the beginning, I would have understood immediately! "TP" just sounds like a game about TPing a house on Halloween or something, especially if you don't know what it is.

Anyway, I guess I'm excited for the game, but I've got a few other games I've got my eye on (H3 & GoW for example). I'm also more interested in playing Advanced Warfighter....

But TP looks promising.... A fresh twist on LOZ. I enjoyed WW, though. I'm glad to see a few elements returning.

Real Cutscenes would be cool, but please! No voice acting! Every game that exists has voice acting, so why must Zelda too? I like it more when the characters make silly sounds and the occasional word(like when Link says in WW "Come on" to those statue things in Tower of the Gods). Also, Nintendo said they MOST LIKELY aren't going to put voice acting.
