Hey all.
Just a request to up the limit of avatars from 25 KB to 50 KB.
I don't see it making much of a difference to the general speed of the forum, and 25 is just kind of limited for me.

I'd say just crop or lower that quality of your avatar. 25KB has always been enough for me. And your avatar dosn't have to be a masterpiece. Just a little photo so we'll know it's you  I'd like it if the japanese looked a little better in my avatar, but I learn to live with it.

The filesize of my avatar never caused me any problems. But then again, mine is dangerously close to 25KB. I can imagine that this would be a very easy option to change?

The one I want to use is 36 KB, so even 40 would be fine. I used a lot of blurring and brushes, so it came out larger in file size than I expected.

I don't upload mine. I uploaded mine to a seperate file hosting site and linked it here. If you are having prolems, it won't hurt to use ImageShack.

AHA! It took some trial and error but I got my avatar up. I'm not sure if this requires further discussion.
Thanks, MD.

Although the topic has been closed, let me add in some additional explanation in case anyone finds this topic in a search:
The avatar file size limitation is set at 25kb to reduce the amount of bandwidth it costs to run these forums. Avatars get loaded on every page that you post on, and if you upload your avatar, then it is being downloaded from the server. This costs us money, and so if we doubled the allowed size, it would double the amount of bandwidth being consumed.
Thus, if your avatar file is too large, then host it somewhere else and provide the URL for it instead.
