Been curious about how the new box arts for Wii will be?

IGN has posted the first eight revealed box arts for Wii launch titles, including Zelda and Red Steel.

Personally, while it may seem odd at first, it's definitely a break from the usual vertical/horizontal bar that appears on current-generation systems, and definitely looks fresh, innovative, and most imporantly, suitable for a console as different as Wii.

Well I think the Zelda one looks mad, I love the shared head between Link and that Wolf. But the rest of them, besides Redsteel look very childish.

        Kwee!

Simple but it's quite nice. It's still sort of a baresh design but it looks like a profile too. I like it. ^-^

I had the feeling Zelda was gonna keep the gold background. Plain, but powerful. Red Steel, if you cover up the bottom half, looks a lot like an iPod commercial. The panel with the name on it looks great, and just as streamlined as ever.

The design looks just so suited to the Wii. And yet, I can't help feeling a sense of deja vu.

I think they look pretty good. The Zelda one is great, with the golden background, but I guess you expect it to look good by now.

They look great! The Wii logo just looks really smooth after you look at it alot.. I really think it's a great name.

You may also want to note that all the other ones pictured are either Disney Pixar, Nikelodeon or just kids cartoons. Whatever game it is, on Wii, it's gonna be great.

I was mostly only paying attention to the Wii part of the box art. It is simple, but it is still sleek.

It reminds me of what Apple's box art would be if they had a console.

Apple have put gaming onto Ipods, so no boxy.

Those boxes are all lame. I like how the Wii logo is placed, but they all just suck.

That's probably because you've seen the picture of link on his box art before. His head has already been shown elsewhere. The Red Steel one also looks like another game's box art, that's on the shelves already.

I like the box art, but the only thing that's different about it is the logo, and the way it's placed. The reason it looks childish is because of the games like Barnyard and Cars, and that's only because they're from animated movies. The Red Steel and TP ones look cool though.

The Wii logo/bar on the top also looks like the Wii remote viewed from its side, somewhat.

                        Just something to consider.

I was talking about the Wii strip.

Wow, that's the funniest accidental joke I ever made.

I've already seen these, I didn't think it worthy enough to make a topic about. Never mind, I'm glad it is.
The TP box is quite cool, though the GC TP box is better. The Wii one is all gold, while the GameCube box is gold where Link is and silver where Wolf Link is.
The others aren't anything special. The Red Steel box is suitable for the game I guess, but still not very interesting. Can't wait to see the Mario Galaxy, Corruption and especially Brawl boxes one day!

I like the simplicity though. Same goes for the possible Wii Remote box...

Reminds me of the Wii stand. Yet again, simplicity can go a long way.

What is that image? Is it a charger for the remote? And yes MD, it does look very similar to the stand for the Wii console itself.

It's the box for the Wii Remote, I beleive. Because of the lack of protection the box gives, I'd say it is the one packaged with the Wii.

Well, it doesn't really show whether or not it had a plastic screen, but it does look as though it is very vulnerable.

It does look like something that would be in a bigger box, though. Sould this be the box of the Wii remote alone, I'd say there would obviously be a better outer covering. eitehr that, or, like I said before, it's the section of the packaging for the Wii itself.

What is that image? Is it a charger for the remote? And yes MD, it does look very similar to the stand for the Wii console itself.

I think I remember Nintendo saying the Wiimote won't have a charger. It will work on batteries, probably two AA batteries.

EDIT: Just found out. It will use two AA batteries which will power it for 30-60 hours depending on which functions of the controller you use.

Actually, its been recently found out that that is actually just a non functional model handed out by Nintendo.

Yes, those were the nonfunctional ones, but it's believed the same box will be used for the final console, and much like DS games, they'll either be kept behind the counter, or in glass cases, or security cases provided by the store itself (much like what Fry's does).

Oh quit whining, it's only a few inches bigger. :P Besides, it's still much lighter and smaller than either the 360, or the PS3. I don't know if they'll have different colors available at launch though. I hope they at least have black, because that will fit in with our TV better.

The difference is negligble. The Wii is one of the smallest home consoles ever to be launched, and certainly a lot more compact than either PS3 or Xbox 360.

And Mr. T, white is the only color the system will be launching in.

No, the difference is NOT negligible. Those few inches are the difference between the Wii nicely fitting, so incredibly subtly, in full of DVDs and Games, and it sticking out like a sore thumb.

...then again, I shouldn't care, since I'm not going to put it in my bookshelf after all. Which would have been nice, but now that there's a TV in my room and all, I think I'll stick with using that one instead.

Most of the boxes are really crap, the only good ones are TC, Metal Slug(it's awesome!), Twilight Princess(though the GC box is better) and NFS: Carbon, though not so much the last one.

They all look simplistic, but not necessarily all stylish AND simplistic. If they can pull that off, like RS and TP have, then yeah, awesome box art.

I guess that in that, there's a level of simplicity to it, as the Wii title at the top seems to encourage the placing of the title in the upper half. Certainly makes things easier for us that way.
