Samus because she's one of my favourites in both SSB's and Snake because thats just such a different idea for a character.
But yea I'm looking forward to Pit, something about breaking a bow in half into daggers just sounds mad. And hoping they fix up Ness.

Why wouldn't your parents let you play online? Also, you don't need wireles internet, if you have anything better than dial-up all you have to do is buy a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Adaptor. That's what I'm going to do.
@watch: I absolutely love Ness in Melee, but i agree he could be a bit better. Possibly just a bit faster or something. I've never played as him in the 64 game, what is he like there?

In SSB, my best characters were Kirby, Puikachu, and Link. In SSBM, it's Sheik, Link, and Marth.
As for SSBB...I'd most likely still stick with Sheik, but I'd like to try the new characters out. n.n

No, Kirby was actually fine as he was. For some reason, the creators of SSBM decided to weaken him, making him one of the less decent characters.

Ness was the best. His gusty bat (across A) did alot more damage and his yo-yo was easier to use IMO.
I think he would of been better if TK-fire was kept at plain B instead of across B. His B move takes far too long to do and is only really useful if the enemy has higher damage.
My SSB characters were at the start Pikachu then I used Link, Fox and Ness, sometimes Samus,
My Melee characters were Link and Young Link at the start, now I play random but if I pick a character it's Ness or Samus.
Melee I'll still probably stick with Ness and Samus, that is if they don't 'even' them out anymore.

ster, who do you think that'll be? My highest guess is suprise suprise NOT Pichu, but Dr.Mario.
Dr.Mario is a character I never understood why he was in there the first place. I mean, as a character he's just Mario with a doctor suit who throws pills instead of fireballs. Ofcoarse there are other small things, as Dr.Mario's Forward Aeriel move is a much better attack... The main reason they added Doc is so that they had an excuse to use his theme song, which imo sucks ****.
Other possible characters which will get the axe in my opinion are: Young Link, Roy, Pichu and Sheik. Young Link, because just as Dr.Mario he's just the same character as Link, yet younger... Ofcoarse Link and Y.Link are more diffrent than Mario-Dr.Mario but I guess you get the idea. Same goes for Pichu... Roy was just in there to advertise FE6, and Sakurai wasn't happy with him in the first place. Plus there are newer FE Lords which would most likely replace him.
And yes there's Sheik. A character which is insanly populair and used ALOT in tournaments and by casual players. You might ask why she should leave, but I find it rather oblivous...
Her absence in LoZ: Twilight Princess is one of them. If Sheik would return, she would deffinatly NOT be a transformation of Zelda, as in Melee. Because Sheik was only in OoT, she's not the same "person" as the Zelda in Brawl (which'd be TP Zelda). And I have my doubts that she'll be a seperate character, since she's still OoT Zelda afterall and that'd be confusing.
Another reason is because of her brokeness in Melee. Sure they could nerfe her, but how? For a character as Peach it's easy, change the Downsmash (really that's ALL what's necencarly) and maybe a little less weight. Fox; remove the Shine Spike. Marth; shorten his sword and grab range. Falco; give a whole new moveset... But Sheik? The reason why Sheik is so good is cause of her fast moves, if they'd made her slower she would play very diffrent. Also her Forward Aerial is as broken as can be... If your comming back to the stage and you get hit by it... It's over! Unless ofcoarse your name is Jigglypuff... >_< So... What would the devlopers do to STILL make the fans of Sheik happy? Add a whole new character with the same style. Which'd be Zero Suit Samus!
I think we can all agree that the whole idea of Zero Suit Samus is based of the Zelda/Sheik character in SSBM. Even the character Zamus herself... She's just as Sheik, the faster and "weaker" counterpart of the main character. But Zamus is more balanced, since she has lower stamina and power moves than Samus as stated on her profile at Smashbros.com. Sheik is supriour to Zelda, which is the big reason Zelda is overshadowed by her... Samus/Zero Suit Samus was a good idea to balance Zelda/Sheik out...
But ofcoarse I might be wrong. Any thoughts?

Same goes for Ness/Lucas. Same moves(though make him a bit better), but newer character.
Does someone dare disagree?
#48
Posted 17 January 2007 - 08:42 AM
As for Ness being replaced by Lucas... Why? Why not have them both in there? I mean, Ness is just as Marth a LEGEND in his franchise. Even though Ness wasn't in Mother 3, he surely wasn't completly gone. He made a small cameo, and the strongest weapon of the game was Ness' Yo-Yo... So I think chances are big we see him back again.
#49
Posted 17 January 2007 - 10:46 AM
Ness was the star of the second of three Mother games. Why would he be included? If Ninten had been included in Smash Bros. you would be saying he is the legend. Having Lucas in Brawl might even make the chances of Mother 3 being released outside of Japan a bit bigger. Oh, and don't say both of them should be playable... They look almost exactly the same, and Earthbound just doesn't deserve to have more than one character, plain and simple.

I don't see the problem of having both Marth and Ike. The castle stage we saw in the trailer still was from Fire Emblem 1, so changes are huge that we'll see Marth back. And no, the castle isn't from PoR since the emblem doesn't match. It isn't the Daein crest, it's more like a black dragon...
Also, Marth is a retro character. Much like the Ice Climbers, Mr.Game and Watch and Pit. And seeing as they added a new retro character, why cut current ones? Besides Mr.Game and Watch, since the "OMGZ WTF"-ness is gone from him... Thus making him less original, but still a lovealbe memory.
#54
Posted 18 January 2007 - 06:35 AM
Just because an FE1 castle was included doesn't mean Marth will certainyl be in the game. I don't know from which Zelda the Huryle Temple arena was taken from, but it certainly wasn't from Ocarina of Time, on which the four(five) Zelda characters were based off.

That being said, no, that pic doesn't turn me on. I prefer the real thing, thankyaverymuch. Though if it were a real costume, I'd probably use it. xP As for a kinky Peach? No. Just....no. Don't even go there.
Now as for the character I'd use, It's either be Pit or Meta Knight. Seeing as Meta Knight's super quick, he might be my first choice. As for SSBM, Kirby, Roy, and Fox are my most used characters.
#63
Posted 18 February 2007 - 04:59 AM
Pit was my first choice, but I doubt he's gonna have the power I want. Hopefully he will be like Marth, but with projectiles and wings. I'm pretty good at handling heavy characters like Ganondorf ( who will hopefully have a sword this time round) Hopefully at least 1 new metroid character can be introduced, hopefully somebody from Hunters
#64
Posted 18 February 2007 - 07:18 AM
I have an extremely strong feeling that Pit will be one of my favorites. His moves are just so awesome! I'm always amazed when I watch him in the trailers.
Who is the first character you're going to use? I first wanted to use Meta Knight, as he is fast(I usually use fast but weak characters) and extremely cool looking, but I'm thinking about using Pit first, for the reasons stated above. My brother's gonna use Wario, because he likes slow and powerful fighters, and Wario is just an ownage character.

And I personally think that Snake should, and will be, a character that you have from the beginning. Part of the reason why there's a lot of hype for Brawl is because of the inclusion of Snake, so I think it would be best to appeal to gamers and just include him from the beginning.
But that's my reasoning.

SoT, Jigglypuff rules and rocks at the same time! If you know how to play him, like I do, than he is one of the most powerful fighters there is. He's certainly one of my favorites, although as a character I hate him.
And I agree with GL, Snake should be playable right away, not only for the reason Riad said, but also 'cause he has already been confirmed. If you ask me all unlockable characters should remain a secret before the game is released.
Split, Brawl doesn't have a release date yet. All that is known is that it'll be released this year. And maybe even that is unsure. Oh, and Blue wasn't talking about a party, he was talking about a tournament. Congrats, Blue!

Frankly, no. Fire Emblem isn't important enough for Nintendo... It isn't the first thing you'll name up after hearing the word Nintendo. 4 characters is ALOT! Assuming Dr.Mario is gone and not counting Yoshi and Wario (I didn't said DK on purpose cause if any of you call him a Mario character I'll stalk you and shoot you in the neck kthnxbai) even the huge Mario franchise would have only 4 characters... Also, Pokémon perhaps one of the things that made Nintendo survive through the dark upcomes of Sony and Microsoft got only 4 characters to represent in Melee...
I say 2 characters is still more than enough. Roy was there to advertise FE6 in Japan, and since it would've been the first FE game international aswell it explains why Roy is there... But yeah FE6 was too hard for us as Westerns since we where rather unexperienced with the franchise back then so it was cancelled. Marth could've easly go off as a retro character like the Ice Climbers.
And Aqua, I really doubt that either Sothe or Micaiah are gonna make it to Brawl. Yeah, they are the main lords of the game FE10, but only for the first "part" of it. Elincia will take over in the 2nd part, and in the 3rd part we have noone other but... IKE!
http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/1051/read67445sm2.jpg
However I hate the hair, his stats are actually pretty good for a lv 11 Hero (his class this time instead of Ranger/Lord).
There's also a 4th part, but we don't know yet who's the main character for that one. So yeah, I'd pick Marth and Ike for Fire Emblem representitives, since they are the only characters that stared in 2 games as actual main characters.

It wouldnt make the game bad or anything, quite the opposite, but players who have never played GS would be thinling ' Who the hell is that character?' and Nintendo dont want that.
In a way though, they do as some people might go out to buy the game with the unknown character, thinking ' If its important enough to be in SSBB, then it must be a good game'
So I have mixed opinions on having GS characters in brawl

I too believe Diddy is the best Smasher of GSSF, so I just can't wait to fight him in Brawl and see just how good I really am compared to him. I like to think I'm pretty good at Melee, but I guess I'll only know for sure once Brawl is released.

And I agree, Brawl will likely be too different from Melee, and most will have to re-learn it. I neveer could SHFFL though. :(

I've been playing a little in my spare time, and I'm a little better. I still hate anybody who C-sticks, those cheap bastards.

Thou cannot use thea sacred power of the SHFFL properly without using thea o-mighty C-Stick! And I'm being serious here...

But seriously, what's the difference between SHLLF and wavedashing, and how do you do them?

[EDIT] And I use the C-stick from time to time myself, but really only when I'm fighting my friend. It's the only way to keep up with him since he also uses the C-stick. Besides, it's not cheating if it was built into the game. ;)

That's true GL, but the C-stick is much easier to use. Takes up half as much brain power.

SHLing aka Short Hop Lasering= Basically, short hopping Falco's B move the pistol. This way you execute it way faster and you can approach your opponent easly with it. Especially useful agaisnt large characters as Ganondorf, DK, Link and Bowser.
Chain Throwing= A throw which has very little knockback but sets up for another grab. Sheik's Down Throw in the American version is a good example. Also, if your ever grabbed by an experienced Ice Climber you know what I mean.
Pilaring= Another Falco technique. Also excuted with the Down B move, also called the Shine. Falco's Shine hits you right up, and just as with Fox's move you can jump out of it after the first frame. By doing this you must use Falco's Down Aerial move, which hits the opponent straight down. Now Falco is the fastest faller in the game, so you must follow him/her and do the same.

Some of you may know this already: http://www.nintendow...cfm?artid=13377
So Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid, says Brawl feels complete and is very fun. Although that might not mean a lot it's still interesting to know. Maybe a 2007 release is not out of the question after all? But is online play out of the question?

but what would make the nxet SSMB game kick-*** would be if it had free roam envronments and larger scale multi player like in halo. only you could still have computer controlled foe. unlike halo.

Yeah right... You even know how to SHFFL or Wavedash? Besides, my Donkey Kong eats Roys for breakfast and it's probarly the easiest matchup for me. Prepare to get totally destroyed after the first grab I get on you.
Roy is a newbie character for newbies only. Not many pro players play him, and he's almost never seen in High Tier tournaments cause his matchups there are horrible. He's a decent Low Tier tournament character though, but you'd do better with Link, Luigi or DK.

The problem with Roy is that he's slow. Speed is most likely the most important aspect in just about everything.Fox and Falco are both very fast, and because of that, they're high tier characters.

Fox and Falco's shine is also a good finishing move. But above all, speed is the best thing to have in Super Smash Bros. If you're fast enough, you can take down anyone.

Completely agree with you there. I'm sick of reading how the so-called "experts" say that one character is very good, while another is awfuly bad. Every fighter can be powerful if you learn to use him well. Some are just better for a certain kind of situation than others. But as Split says, no character sucks. So keep on using Roy if you want to, escout.

"Higher standards?" What does that mean?
Although I like speedy characters over slow but powerful ones in almost every game, I think Toasty is a bit underestimating fighters like Ganondorf. My brother's favorite character is Ganondorf, and he's very good with him. He can often beat me when I'm using Marth, who is one of my faves. Ganondorf has such crazy power, that not even an agile fighter can always defeat him.

Bowser is a slow-but-powerful character who is bad, though. And actually, I find Fox to be pretty bad, no matter what the "experts" say.
