I highly recommend joining this website. It's similar to other websites, like MySpace, etc., but FaceBook is highly sophisticated. And plus, it's on a global scale; people from all countries can sign up.

Again, it has a really simple, but mature layout, compared to a lot of social networking sites out there.

It's nice, but I don't like how you can't add personality to it like myspace. Also, though its quick to load, It can be dificult to figure out.

Honestly, MySpace is pretty much doomed. The governments are going to just shut it down from the overflow of online predators.

If you mean the "Notes" feature, then yes, it is read by your group of friends.

The blogs (which you can import from other sites, btw), I think, can be seen by every member, though I'm not sure about that.

It was very interesting to see the feature article of this week's Sports Illustrated revolve around Ohio State and their many facets. Facebook was created there and is used by every student!

It seems like facebook is becoming the new myspace, but I think pretty much all my friends are still sticking to the latter. I'm really starting to use Facebook now and the best part of it is the News Feed, that keeps you updated on what your friends have done with their profiles and how your profile has changed since you last logged in.

It's a much better networking site than anything I've seen, and I have nothing wrong with the new layout (though it seems like a lot of people do).

Same here, I actually found the new layout to be a LOT more functional and accessible... the older one was a bit confusing with the placement of the links.

It's more streamlined now, and even though some people were upset over it (they even started an anti-new layout group, lol), all it needs is some time.

For the record, FaceBook is no where like MySpace - in FaceBook, the only people that can view your profile/information are the ones in your "networks" (and by networks, I mean things that you're actually associated with - things like your school, the place where you work, your region, etc.)

It's different from MySpace, where everybody's profile is exposed to anyone and everyone to see.

I am a facebook ADDICT. It's the best way for people to get in touch with me because I use it so much. I love love love how only people can look at you from within your network, and even that can be restricted. I really like Facebook, actually. So many people I know from the high school I just graduated from and my band friends have joined. Some of which I never get to see anymore. (like the seniors of the years before, and some of the seniors of my class who went to far off colleges.)

I don't see why people hate these networking sites so much. I find it as a great tool to keep up with people. It sure beats losing contact with everybody that you knew in high school.

If you sign up for a Facebook (in a college network), you've most likely received the registration e-mail in your college e-mail address (i.e. @nameofcollege.edu), so check that first.

I got a Facebook account sometime in July. I guess I got it because I wanted to see what it was like to have one of these networking accounts. It's actually pretty cool. The reason I like Facebook more than MySpace is that most MySpace accounts are so gaudy and too "decorative". I prefer the simplistic style of Facebook.

But it's not all messy like you cant make boxes stretch randomly or add your own theme to make it impossible to read and stuff, and it actually is pretty clean o.o; all you really need to know is where the stuff is on your page and where you friends comment box is. Something similar happened to me actually - I was best of friends with one guy, Henry, (we were pretty much brothers) who I met first day of Kindergarten, and we were in every grade up until 6th. He moved away, and we both lost/didn't have the new contact info, so we lost touch for almost eight years - until he randomly sent me a message on Facebook/AIM, and now we're making plans to see each other next time I'm back in NYC.

Useful for lazy, uneducated people who don't want to change because they are used to what they have. Gateway for virius's and spyware

Facebook = FF
Clean, simple to use graphical interface, harder to get used to, but better in the long run. Majority of other users are more intelligent individuals.

Facebook is pretty annoying now, and I don't have that much friends there. Riad, I feel sorry for you.

Everytime I log on to Facebook, I get some 30 requests to some Fighters Club, What OS are you, etc. It was fun for a while, but it's annoying now ^_^

I have about 150 friends, and I only get about 3 requests every couple days. It all depends on who you make friends with, I suppose.

I'm in SoT's position to be honest Eugine. And yes, after a while, the appeal of Facebook dies down, but it's still important to me simply because it's one of the ways I can stay in contact with my old friends, especially since moving to another city entirely for college.

Exactly. Thanks (in part) to Facebook, I got together with a bunch of my elementary school friends last week to visit some old teachers. It's a great tool for seeing what old friends are up to, because you can't stay in the same school forever.

I'm not going to lie, I love facebook, but 'funwall' and 'superwall' are the worst things that ever happened to it. If I add it I get spam, if I don't I get flooded with requests for it.

Other than that I think facebook is amazingly useful. For instance I'm moving to New Zealand soon, but I don't have to worry about moving all my pictures from computer to computer because they're on facebook :lol: it's helpful for the lazy

Facebook is nice simply, like others said, because you get to keep in touch with old friends. About a month ago, a friend whom I haven't seen for six years added me as a friend.

It seems some people are having trouble viewing my photos on Facebook because of my privacy settings, but I have them set to viewable to all friends and networks, can anyone suggest something I can try so they can be viewed?

Are you sure the people you're linking the photos to have a Facebook account?

They are people from this forum on the GSSF facebook group that are registered as friends,yet they can not view my photos. Would a few other people check to see if they can view them?

EDIT: I've tried changing the setting again, but if you still can't view them, then I'm sorry. I'll try to upload a few others over the next few days. It may be possible that you can't view because they were tagged by one of my other friends from thier profile and that is the cause. If that is the case, I'll try to have some of my own up in the next day or two if I remember.

I'm so sick of the stupid vampires/pirates/ninja requests. Some of the requests are okay, but when you get fifty of the same ones, it gets annoying.

Superwall and funwall are extremely annoying. I tried posting this one mock-chain letter that Kate sent me one time (remember the parentless-legless-armless-goatless boy foundation? XD) but it didn't let me send the whole thing =.= I was hoping it would get my "friends" to stop sending those stupid chain letters. "if you don't pass this on, the spirit of oogabooga will come and kill you at 10:01 tonight!" Please do, then at least I won't have to receive any more of your stupid chain letters.

I thought it would be fun to draw some grafitti on my wall, but then when I went to hit "undo" I accidentally hit post, and it went to every one of my friends x.x;;

To be honest, I've had more "drama" on facebook than myspace. In fact, I've never had any drama on myspace, and I also like myspace because, being interested in digital and graphic design, I can customize the look of my layout. I've made about 10 of my own; I should actually start publishing my layouts.

I don't know why there's so much new Facebook layout hate. I mean, it definitely looks different and all, but the tabs are really nice after you get used to them, they keep track of a lot more.

I got used to it; granted, I've been using the new layout for a while now.

I'm not throwing this out of nowhere - I'm basing all this after having used it for a day. One of the things about the old Facebook was that everything was condensed to a single page - you got to determine what content was on it, how to rearrange things, how to make it look your own way.

Why are wall posts and mini/news feeds combined now? It's counter-intuitive. If I want to see a person's wall posts, I would go to that section under the old system. If I wanted to see what the friend's done recently, I go to his mini-feed.

This is just convoluted. I can't tell what are wall posts now - and status updates integrated with it too?

And the tabs are good in theory, but just makes it so much more convoluted to go through. This isn't a dating website we're on, good lord.

Yea I think I'm in like 4 or 5 anti-redesign groups or something. The new one looks too flash and like they're trying to copy Myspace's front pages. Old layout may not look all great, but it's nice and simple to use.

The only thing I thought wrong with the last one is that you had to have it in the default colours, and there was no skin customization.

I agree with GL that the news-feed and mini-feed are a little convoluted now, but I find the "boxes" tab to be a huge advantage considering the number of my friends who add thirty thousand applications and make it impossible for their page to load.

Now that's on a separate page so I can ignore it!

I do miss actually having a wall and being able to see how many wall posts I have. However, by clicking on "posts by others" I can see purely wall posts and posted pictures by other people, which I suppose is okay.

There was nothing worse than going to someones page, jam packed with what superstar they look like, what kind of deoderant suits them, what kind of lover they are, and what profession they would be if they lived on Mars. At least now there's a dedicated page to every update that every freind does. I can imagine people with well over 500 friends might find this a tad annoying. To them I say, how many of those do you actually know? For us who only add people who are in fact freinds it works very well.

And... I'm guilty as charged. Well, 413 friends. Not 500. But still. Some of these peeps I wouldn't be able to recognize on the street if I passed them. Repeatedly.

But even then, I don't find all the updates irritating; of course, sometimes "important" things are covered up, but then again, not much is important on FB anyway. I'm fond of the Facebook layout, and I figure that the anger about layouts has, by now, dissipated. Hopefully.
