I'm not familiar with the mechanics of the iPod Shuffle, but if there's some sort of reset function, try using that. If you can access your Shuffle's directory through your computer, go through the folder(s) and delete any music files that may be lingering. Then load all your songs back onto it.

Restore is supposed to be the last resort, and if that doesn't work, I'm not sure anything will. Apple is smart, once the one year warranty is up, your iPod will be a liability. They rarely last any longer than three years (except the hard drive video, they could last forever if you treat them right).

1stgen Shuffles are known for problems. Apple has a complete fix for Shuffles on their site; since restore doesn't work for so many people. I forget where I saw it, but its there.

However, try this, it works for mine (sometimes): Plug into computer, right click the drive in My Computer, click format, let it format, then disconnect, start iTunes and plug it back in. It will appear as a new iPod. Try that.

Well I finally got that fixed...so I should be happy right? No.
            It has messed up again...differently...
The iPod is broke...kinda, if works perfectly fine...but it wont charge...
You charge it by plugging in the bottom to a usb slot..when I plug it in the comp doesnt recognise that theres something there...also, I sometimes charge it in my Wii (it has 2 usb slots in the back) and when I plug it in there it doesnt charge either...so I guess its time is about up...

Try re-installing it on the computer. Worked with my nano
