How do you make a forum in a website?

Most require PHP and a MySQL database. I haven't seen a hosting plan that has a decent offer of these for free so far.

PHPBB is the best free one out there, but if you're willing to pay, go for IPB or vBulletin.

Interests:Drums, Guitar Hero, pretending to play guitar, getting awesome at the one song I know how to play on bass, school(yeah, I'm such a loser) music, mohney, etc. I suppose I'll give you an abbreviated list of bands that I like: Relient K Switchfoot Guster Angels and Airwaves Arcade Fire Porcupine Tree Weezer Mae It's sorta a weird mix of mainstream and not so mainstream. I like a lot of single songs too... Bands I need to look at: Plastic Constellations Cauterize Patent Pending And a bunch of local bands that you'll probably never hear of. Pandora rocks. I'm running out of things to say here. Perhaps I like duct tape? Yeah. This likely won't be touched for another year when my tastes have completely changed.

There are a couple different forums you can use: InvisionFree, Proboards, etc. From there you simply put a link to the forum from the website. It's really easy.

Remember, a forum takes a huge deal of commitment as well.

One thing to add: phpBB is not necessarily the best free one. SMF is also good and free. I've used both and I can easily recommend either one.

You need a web host with PHP enabled. If you don't have one, you'll have to go with a remotely hosted forum such as ProBoards or InvisionFree.

To make a site for beginners, use dreamweaver or frontpage~ Or get a crash course on HTML~

It sounds like a host of some sorts. But you need a host for one, (preferably one that has PHP support) and the good one's cost money. If you want a site to go with your forums, I'd highly suggest going here to learn HTML. If you just want the forums, set one up with invision free.

You're welcome. :) It's probably the best website for learning just about any web based language.

But you just need to go to www.invisionfree.com. Other than that, I havn't made a forum. My specialty is in the website itself. I do know that you should probably know PHP, but you should check out the website first.

Not that I know of. I've never used invision free, so I don't have a lot to say about it. But I assume you won't need your own server space.

I don't think so. Just go try it out and see. It's free, so you only risk wasteing a few minutes of your time.

Anyway, you might want to get a banner and a new skin, instead of just using the default. www.ifskinzone.net Has a large database of buttons, skins etc that you can use.

And to increase traffic to your webiste you could join a topsites website or get some affiliates. You'd need a code to add an affiliates box, but you can find that on Ifskinzone as well.
