The Canadian governemnt has given hunters the go-ahead to kill 270,000 baby seals in the worst possible way, through torturing and slow and painful death. They've already done this in 2006 and are again doing it for their fur. The skined carcasses of these seals are thrown onto a pile to rot as there is no market for their meat.

If you are against this please give your signature on PETA's international petition to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. I've already done it, and the more people to sign this the better.

I didn't think that it was legal for seals to be killed in that way. I thought it was illegal.
Still I'm unsure how successful a petition can be. Usually it won't have much effect unless a lot of people back it, and even then people might not change.

I know, but signing this petition is still better than just sitting around and feeling sorry for the little seals. And it's not like you have to pay anything, so I don't see why people wouldn't sign this.

Okay, now if they just put them to sleep by gassing them painlessly, I would feel better. I still wouldn't like it, but I would feel better. But bludgeoning them to death, I'm left without words.

I signed the petition. At the very least they could use chloroform (or whatever the doctors give you to put you under) before they beat them to death. It'd even be better if they shot 'em instead. At least then it would be over quickly.

But hopefully enoughy people will have signed the petition to stop the slaughtering.

I didn't send it to anyone else, and it isn't required. That's what I first thought, but actually what they mean is that stating the E-mail address of a person you're sending it to is necessary. Your signature has already been sent when that page comes up.

Anyhow, my respect for you guys went up a notch.
