[Split Infinity]

This is kind of old news, but it came as a surprise to me when I was looking up Ubisoft on Wikipedia. There's a slightly less informative article on GameSpot as well. Apparently the game will be played from the viewpoint of an additional character, and will feature a new storyline from the creators of the show.

Speaking of GameSpot, if this game is ever developed, I want it to look like this!

Usually games that are made based on a film/TV show/book aren't really good. Of course, there can be exceptions(sp?) like Spiderman.

It probably won't be a very good game, since the show will add so much in the three years it has left on the air. But even without it, the track record of TV games just isn't in its favour.

That's true. However you have a certain level of expectation that a series with as much quality as Lost can produce a game which reflects these qualities.
However it could just be crap.

Quality from a TV show never reflects in their games. They're are always made to cash in on a fad. It will be a bad game, though I would really like it to be good.

To be fair the 24 game was a good game and reflected the exciting aspects of the show. I would agree though that most games like that will usually be bad.

I think Locke would be more interesting than some of the other characters.

I think that's the first valid use of spoiler tags we've seen on this forum. Anyways, the dilemma is in which seasons it will play through. The show isn't over yet, so what could they choose?

Well I believe they said they'd continue the series for a long time, so maybe they could make sequels to cover the different series.

Wouldn't that be a great way for ABC to make more money. But the question is, do they really need it?

I guess not. It would be a fun add on if done right, but would be pointless if done badly.

maybe it would start at the begining and you play as some sort of custum character and you work with the castaways through the series and your choices would have some sort of impact on what happens latter in the game, like do you keep inputing the numbers into the computer or let the clock run out and see what happens.

something else that might be cool is if you can play from the PoV of the Others.

That's a good idea actually. You could learn more about the Other's and why they are there.
Just so you know, if I start talking about something and you're all like 'What we know why they do that!' It's because I've not seen series 3.

They wouldn't do that because it would reveal things about the show that haven't been revealed yet. It wouldn't be from the Others' perspective, I'm sure of that.

I wish we could just get two episodes of Lost every week instead of getting a game. I think everyone would want that more.

Doesn't bother me too much. Since I missed Lost when it first came out, I've had to catch up on DVD instead.

That's my biggest beef against it. I hate episodic games, I like my freedom to go around and do whatever the heck I want. (ala The Elder Scrolls games)

If it were done kind of like Myst where you solve puzzles and try to find some bearing on the island, with some combat and resource management (you gotta eat) it could prove interesting. I'm not an active fan of Lost though so I don't know what would be for the best.

Pointless in the gaming sense. It would be brilliant for marketing no matter how good or bad it was. Heck they could make Lost toilet paper and it would sell.
