Blizzard has finally made the official announcement of StarCraft II.

I thought ghost had been finished, at least, I think thats what one of my gaming mags said, but I can't remember which. It can be hard to keep facts stright when you get five different mags a month. I think it was released for the 360, or atleast that was the plan.

Starcraft 2 already looks nice just from the little clip they're showing. I'm curious about the new units they're adding in. It better be more than just pretty graphics.

I think adding new units is evidence that they are trying to make it more than pretty graphics. The last thing we want is for it to be Starcraft with nicer graphics. It needs to live up to the name, sure, and obviously keep alot of the fundamental parts, but they also need to move forward with the concept and not just cling on to the original to please the rabid fans.

It was put on hiatus for a while, and then they decided to just cancel the project completely. They could still revive it at some later date but it's unlikely.

I went to BlizzCon to play this game and my cousin works for the company. She said it's definately not coming out in '08, and it's still pre-alpha, so there's still a ways left to wait. It was very fun at the convention thoguh! <_<

Am I the only person who doesn't believe a word of that. Well it probably won't come out in 2008, but the fact that his cousin works at Blizzard. Everybdoy that seems to have non proveable information alwasy says "so-and-so works at the company". My dad works for Microsoft but he knows **** all about the gaming stuff, he just does programming for the computers. I find it highly unlikely that alot of people on almost every forum, have family working for gaming/movie/music industries.

Well I used to visit two forums daily a year or so ago, Square Insider and D12 World, both or which are awsome forums, but every now and then you would get some idiot saying "my dad works for Sqauresoft(when infact it would be Sqaure-Enix) and he let me try FF13, it's awsome" or "my uncle is Eminem's gardener and he has heard some songs off of Em's new album". It just gets frustrating.

Anyway, back to the actual game. Have you read much about the Protoss Phase Cannons? Those make brutal early-game rushes if you don't have a defense built against them.

So far no new races are being made, though there may be a few unique units for story and SCUMEdit purposes. It's already been decided that only the three original races will be available in multiplayer.

As for dodging, I do not wish to cause any conflict. There is no reason for me to prove anything and you are entitled to your opinion. Besides, it's off topic.

When Starcraft 2 coems out, and if there is new races, this will make you look foolish.

But to stay on-topic, I find it foolish for Blizzard to not include new races. This game has been MANNNNNNY years in the making, and all they are including are a few new units, that seems like a very stupid business move, if it is indeed true.

If that is your view, then we all may be foolish. Blizzard tends to change a lot of details last minute and from week to week. Evidence what happened to the Tempest.

It's not only a few new units, a lot of old units are taken out or completely revamped. There's a whole slew of new units for each race, too. I can't wait to fly that Mothership around!

There is a perfectly good reason forrevamped units. SC2 takes place ten years after the events of Brood War, there for, there has been plenty of time to improve on the techs that existed at the time. I think the new siege tank kicks ass.

The new Tank is awesome. There's been a ton of debate over the new siege animation, but it looks great in-game.

As far as I know, if Blizzard were to add a new race it would have to be the Xel-naga. But seeing as there all but extinct, I highly doubt that will happen.

Basically: certain things will cost you money, but it's just extra "optional" crap. Nothing more. You should be able to play Diablo III for completely free online at least.

I'm not saying this is a good thing, as everything on battle.net used to be free... like Blizzard honestly needs the extra money.

I had a mild interest in the game to start with. Now it's completely gone and I doubt I'll buy it, unless the three games in the "Star Craft 2 trilogy" cost a 1/3 or so of a normal PC game. Though I doubt they will be. I'm not about to spend $150 on a game that I wasn't too interested in at all.

50 dollars is the standard price for a PC game here, dunno what messed up price you guys pay on a standard but I'm not going to go on a fanboy rush to pay whatever arbitrary price is placed on a game. Starcraft was fun but the truth is I'm not a big fan of RTS anyway, Total War and Civ are more my cup o tea.
