What if you had a choice to be good or evil? Chaotic or lawful? GS1 & 2 had somewhat of a bias on lawful, goody-two shoe moral thing.

I think it'd be cool if you could rob stores and stuff. (I'm aware that you could check people boxes or something for things) I'm not meaning Grand Theft Alchemy: Golden Sun Stories here, but if you have powerful psynergy at you disposal I think that we should have the option to... I dunno, abuse it a little.

Somehow, you remind me vaguely of the Fables games for the Xbox, where you can control the actions of your main character, good or bad, and these actions have rewards or repercussions.

How would that work into the plot though?

Unless you could choose your set of characters - imagine choosing between either Isaac or Felix as the protagonist, or maybe carry on with Alex. The plot could be explained from both sides, just like it was for GS1 and 2.

I like the idea, but it's not the most original concept. Maybe it would give an interesting slant on the game though.

I'd choose whichever side bribed me with the most chocolate. Or I might decide to be neither. I'd be like, a new class of non-evil ne'r do wells!

Don't you mean a neutral? That would be pretty dull.
"The world is going to be destroyed!"
"Hmm. I better sit and contemplate the situation, before proceeding to do nothing."
Guess it could be worse. You could be a NPC and be forced to say the same line over and over again.

I'm going with chaotic good. That way I get to break stuff and terrorize people, but I still get to feel good about it.

Well, remember guys, in GS you had tons of opportunities to say "Yes" or "No". While it never really effected the outcome of anything, it was a nice touch which gave your position in the story a bit more depth, as opposed to games like Final Fantasy where everyone does all the talking for you.

But what I'm thinking is that GS3 could expand on "Yes" and "No" a bit more where it actually has an impact on what goes on.

Since GS3 will still probably be a pretty linear game, options of picking who to be (we still don't have a topic about what characters we think will be in GS3!) is probably out of question, but I can still think that options of what to say could unlock side-quests or other things depending on your character's moral alignment. Come to think of it, if this does become a reality we can expect some new characters to play as, since everyone from the original GS games were all goody-two shoes, except Felix who was a bit more chaotic than the rest, but he still had good intentions.

A game can still be linear but with lots of options of what to do when you're in towns, like robbing stores at night as I said earlier (Chaotic). Now that I think of it, GS didn't have many things to do besides the main storyline. We should be able to do side quests for people in towns! (Good)

I think that giving people those kinds of choices like in Baldurs Gate or Fable or Elder scrolls kind of distorts from the game. I agree how cool it would be to be able to ultise psyenergy and the dijinn to do your willing (hell take over Lunpa or w/e you want) but it would relocate GS into a different genre. I think because of it's traditional turn based RPG style on a system which lacked what GS was, was the reason why it was so successfull.
But nice idea, it would be cool.

I Like the idea, being able to chose which side you want to be on would appeal to more gamers(I think) but i have an idea to expand on WD's. What if you could do side quests after you completed the main storyline? Like something that will get you to play the game even though you already beat it. And With the good or evil thing, there could be different options like you have a bad reputation with Vale but a good reputation with Contigo, And with different reputations comes different options.

Just a thought. (i really do like the idea WD :D )

In almost every game where it had been possible I wanted to be the bad guy but I just couldn't. At the crucial point I had always chosen the good side instead of being evil, dunno why. Oh well, except Fable (:

Actually thinking back, this mostly likely won't happen. More of a WRPG thing. JRPGs are too linear for this kind of thing. =P

It'd work if you could play through as the group of protagonists or antagonists, and see the whole story from either viewpoint, possibly even ending up with a different ending depending on the group you chose (i.e. protagonists = good ending, etc.). There are JRPG's out there that have had multiple endings due to decisions made in the game, so it's not entirely unlikely.

Though I don't really see Camelot going down this route as it's not really their style, and GS would seem kind of awkward when played from an antagonists' point of view IMO.

And yes, I realize that the previous post was made last year.
